Product Overview
The Panasonic FlashXpress NB-G200P is a compact, high-performance toaster oven that has earned its reputation as a kitchen essential since debuting as CNET’s “Best Toaster Oven Overall” over ten years ago. Now in its second-generation anniversary edition, this updated model builds on a legacy of reliability and innovation with thoughtful enhancements for modern kitchens. Designed with small spaces in mind—whether you’re in a studio apartment, dorm room, or busy household—the FlashXpress delivers powerful cooking performance without sacrificing speed or convenience.
What truly sets the FlashXpress apart is its advanced double infrared heating technology. This means no waiting, no energy waste, and consistently faster results for everything from toast to frozen meals. The sleek stainless steel exterior not only complements any kitchen décor but also ensures durability and easy maintenance.
Key Features
- Double Infrared Heating Technology: Eliminates preheating time by delivering immediate, consistent heat across the entire cooking surface. This preserves moisture, enhances flavor, and reduces overall cooking duration—perfect for busy mornings or quick lunches.
- Six Auto Cook Presets with Illustrated Controls: Intuitive one-touch buttons guide you through six preset programs: bread (toast, waffles, bagels), frozen foods (pizza, hash browns), and reheat options (rolls, breads, leftovers). Each preset automatically calculates the optimal time and temperature, removing guesswork from everyday cooking.
- Dial Temperature Control (250°F–500°F): Offers full manual control for customized baking, toasting, roasting, or reheating. Whether you need gentle warming or high-heat browning, the precision dial lets you fine-tune your settings for perfect results every time.
- Digital Timer (Up to 25 Minutes): Ensures consistent cooking times and prevents overcooking. A clear countdown display and audible beep alert notify you when your meal is ready, so you never have to babysit the process.
- Square Inner Tray Design: Optimized for space efficiency, this unique shape accommodates up to a 9-inch pizza or four slices of bread side by side—ideal for families or individuals who want maximum capacity in a small footprint.
- Removable Crumb Tray & Interior Light: Makes cleanup effortless and allows you to monitor food visibility during cooking. Simply wipe away crumbs after use, and enjoy clear views of browning progress thanks to the built-in light.

Benefits & Use Cases
The Panasonic FlashXpress shines in everyday scenarios where time and space are limited. Thanks to its no-preheat infrared system, you can pop in frozen hash browns, toast bagels, or warm leftover pizza straight from the freezer—no thawing required. The six auto-cook presets simplify decision-making while ensuring reliable outcomes, whether you’re making waffles for breakfast or crisping up last night’s stir-fry.
Its compact 0.5-cubic-foot capacity makes it an excellent choice for those with limited counter real estate. Despite its small size, the square tray design maximizes usable space, letting you cook more at once than many larger models allow. Users frequently praise how quickly it heats up, how quietly it operates, and how well it fits into crowded kitchen layouts without sacrificing accessibility.
Beyond basic toasting and reheating, the manual dial gives you the flexibility to bake small casseroles, roast vegetables, or even make personal-sized desserts. The interior light and transparent door let you watch browning progress without opening the unit, helping prevent accidental burning or undercooked spots.
With its combination of smart presets, intuitive controls, and robust performance, the FlashXpress is more than just a toaster—it’s a versatile mini-oven designed for real-world convenience.
Important Notes
Because the FlashXpress uses infrared technology, it does not require preheating. You can place food inside immediately upon turning it on, saving both time and energy. Always allow adequate space around the appliance for proper ventilation. The removable crumb tray should be emptied and cleaned regularly to maintain hygiene and performance. While the exterior is constructed from durable stainless steel, internal components—especially glass and metal parts—should be handled gently during cleaning to preserve longevity.
This model is PFAS-free, reflecting Panasonic’s ongoing commitment to safer materials and sustainable manufacturing practices. It’s certified to meet current safety standards for residential kitchen appliances and is suitable for home, office, or educational environments.

FINALLY a toaster oven CAN TOAST!
I have endured a tragic series of horrendous toaster oven lifetimes. After each merciful death I tried a new brand, naively hoping for satisfaction. Oh NO. Each rivaled the last in being the stupidest, most godawful waste of engineering effort ever expended. My massive and most recent torturer, made by a formerly high-end French company, took ten minutes to effect any change at all on a slice of bread. The result was never the same twice, no matter how carefully I tried to manage the knob one had to turn each use to set the duration. It was invariable however in the way that it was always terrible: whether raw, burnt, or partially raw _and_ partially burnt! It clicked like a bomb timer in a cartoon and seemed perversely dedicated to burning human flesh.I am ashamed to admit I couldn’t even wait for the end of its natural lifespan â I gave to a neighbor’s son getting his first apartment. ð (Vis-Ã -vis this review… I’m pretty much hoping he doesn’t have Internet connectivity, or better yet, can’t read.)The FlashXpress heats in TWO ways at the same time, using both ceramic and quartz heating elements. It gets to temperature almost instantly, you don’t have to preheat at all. It gets incredibly bright â probably a good idea not to stare like DJT does at the sun â but I’m not tempted, so I can just enjoy the fact that it’s heating from the inside almost like a microwave and crisping from the outside at the same time. The second photo I took without flash in normal lighting. The intensity of the light so threw off the light balance of the camera that it looks like it’s in the dark! This Panasonic â I LOVE this thing.[NB: It meets some of my specific requirements beautifully, but if you have different desires it might not work so well for you.]Firstly, I live in a small space. Think of outfitting a ship.Second, I have an actual oven so I’ll never use this to make lasagna or multiple batches of cookies or roast a chicken, i.e., real baking.Thirdly, day to day, I often don’t feel like cooking (I live alone and can do whatever I want ð) so I heat up a portion of something (like the items above) which I’ve previously frozen. It’s got a tiny footprint. It actually sits safely on top of my bubbler, so it robs me of zero zilch nada of my precious counter space. It toasts uniformly on both sides super fast. It melts cheese and heats single portions of frozen stuff like nobody’s bidnez. It automagically thrusts the grill rack slightly up and out when you open the door, and coming up on our 6 month thingiversary, it has yet to hurt me in any way. Now, if this were going to be your only oven, I would say nononono don’t get this. It doesn’t cook long enough, it’s presets are limited and it just won’t do a good job at cooking anything that needs to be particularly large, moist, low-temp, or slow. For me, it hasn’t quite been David Ortiz hitting a winning double-run homer in the 12th game 4 when you’re down 3 games in the series… but close. After all, my toast losing streak has only been around since the death of the upright steel toaster, sometime in the 70s. ð

Highly recommend this toaster over, especially for great TOAST!
I don’t usually write reviews, but I wanted to offer a review of this little oven because it works so well. I bought this oven primarily to make toast. I have been cycling through numerous toasters that have been extremely disappointing in terms of toast quality – the toast is uneven and patchy, often one side isn’t even toasted, English muffins need to be flipped and toasted twice, and so on. So, I searched the internet for reviews of toasters and found an excellent article in a trusted newspaper in which they reviewed toasters and toaster ovens. Long story short, the article recommended this little oven as the best oven for making great toast, so I took a chance. Overall, this oven is outstanding both as a toaster and for warming/cooking food. As mentioned above, I mostly use it for toast (I cook larger items in my air fryer oven). What do I love about this toaster? First, it’s small in size so it doesn’t take up much more room than my 4-slice toaster did. Second, and most important, it makes GREAT toast and is twice as fast as any toaster I’ve ever used. Truly, the toast is made in lighting speed due to the double radiant lights. Third, I love that the toaster lights up inside (bright) while toasting so that I can see the toast get darker and can stop it a few seconds earlier if needed. I also like the small “ding” when the toast is finished (there is also a timer that shows how long the item will take). Fourth, it’s super easy to use, push the ON button, push the TOAST button, and (if desired) push a button to increase or decrease darkness. The toast comes out gorgeous – evenly brown, crispy, and toasted well on BOTH sides!! Finally, I love that the oven will fit 4 small standard pieces of bread or two very large/long slices (sourdough, corn rye). The toast shown in the photos is an over-sized slice of rye bread that used to stick out of the top of my old toaster (and needed to be flipped to fully toast). Amazing!! Other items cook equally well and fast – reheated pizza slices and frozen snacks (this is what I’ve tried so far). Bottom line, I highly recommend this little oven even if you only use it for toast!

Quick and even toast
I had this toaster for a bit more than eight years. A family member left something drip and catch fire inside, so we figured it was time to replace it. But our choice was to get the same toaster again. We mostly use it for toast, and this is the fastest toaster oven I’ve used for that. A cycle is around 2.5min, resulting in even color. Select darkness from Light to Dark, or just keep your last setting and tap “toast”. Sourdough or Rye tend to take a second cycle. We don’t do as much other cooking in here. If you’re cooking tater tots or reheating pizza, it gets the job done. The controls for non-toast are a little quirky. You select a temperature using arrows, which are converted to Fahrenheit from Celsius, and then select a time (also with arrows).Part of the heating is done with bright light, so it’s, again, a bit quirky to see your toaster emitting the light of a few suns (maybe not quite a thousand). We find it a bit endearing, and it also functions to make the toast visible if we want to watch for perfect doneness. One factor for us in returning to this toaster oven is its small footprint. Of the ones in our consideration it took up the least amount of counterspace by a decent margin, without it feeling lacking in capacity. The small footprint and weighting toward quick and even toasting made this one the decisive winner for our family.

I absolutely love this little toaster oven. We moved to a home with limited counter space, and I have celiac disease so I can’t share a toaster with the gluten-eaters. If we had kept the microwave and separate toasters there would be no room left on the counter to make food! This little toaster oven does the job of all three and in half the space of a microwave, and I haven’t had to use the regular large oven that guzzles electricity. It gets used at least twice a day, sometimes three or four times for reheating and cooking meals.Pros:- no preheating- small and compact, takes up very little counter space compared to a microwave- easy to use controls, the membrane buttons are easy to wipe clean- multiple preset heating options plus custom heat and timer settings mean it’s very flexible- removable crumb tray makes it easy to clean up the crumbsCons:- it does heat up quite a bit on the top and sides, but as long as you keep thin plastics away from it and teach kids not to touch it’s not a huge problem- the light that turns on and off while heating is quite bright, but you get used to it- it won’t fit anything larger than a 9-inch frozen pizza or anything tall, but the interior size is impressive given how small it is overall- no broiler setting; I’ve successfully made nachos using the toast setting, however, so I don’t miss it.- it takes a long time (10+ minutes) to reheat things like soupSo far we’ve used this little toaster oven to make toast, nachos, grilled cheese, frozen pizzas, hash browns, and roasted tomatoes; it’s also been used to reheat leftovers from takeout pizza to rice to pancakes, and I’ve even made s’mores in it. I haven’t tried it for baking yet but if I do I’ll update my review. You have to use it differently to reheat some foods compared to a microwave, but adding a tad extra liquid and stirring halfway through works just fine for reheating foods without burning the top or drying them out. I does take a bit longer than a microwave, but for foods like leftover pizza and french fries the crispiness this toaster oven gives is completely worth it.I’ve heavily used the tray that came with the toaster oven, and it’s become severely discoloured from oils and I can’t get it looking clean any more even with vinegar soaks or a baking soda scrub â however, that’s an aesthetic issue and not a function issue. If I got another one I’d line it with tinfoil just to keep it from getting stained so quickly. The rack is stainless steel and much easier to clean, even when it’s covered in baked-on cheese from pizzas. As far as using this toaster oven for both gluten-free and non-gluten-free foods, the rack is removable but it’s a little bit fiddly, and it’s too hard to clean well enough to just clean before every use; instead I use the included tray for my gluten-free bread, and save putting food directly on the rack for the gluten-containing foods (a silicone mat might work as well, if there are any made in the right size). When using the tray instead of the rack I have to flip my bread to get both sides evenly toasted, but it works out okay; ideally I’d get a second rack to have one for only gluten-free use and just switch back and forth, but I haven’t been able to find anywhere I can get just the rack on its own.

This mini oven is kind of magic; the flash element is very bright and gets the oven very warm almost instantly; no need to preheat. Compared to my convection oven I save almost 15 minutes at the highest temperatures. It is really fast to cook or reheat. You have to be careful when reheating food because that flash element can burn fast. On the down side, the controls for toast colour and time are a bit rudimentary and there’s a 30 minutes limit. Cleaning the oven and grill is easy but the provided metal tray got brown and there’s no way I found to get rid of the stains. Also, this is a small oven so space and height is limited inside. This oven is great to warm up food and bread, toast of any size, pizza and the top to keep warm plates. Great to reheat frozen french fries or any type of frozen fried food. They say not to use cooking paper but if you are careful, you can use it too. A great mini oven for the kitchen.
