    Solid
I’m very impressed with this and if you look closely, I’m 100% convinced that the same manufacturer builds the rockler and the UK drill guide but with this you can save $100 plus. It’s very solid. Best drill guide I’ve ever had. I needed it because I’m building a large dining table that will require some threaded inserts on the underside and wanted to make sure I drill square. The cool thing is that these rods win at a 90° position stick into the base ensuring very solid lock up. To change angles, you have to loosen the two hex screws on the guide posts and the guide bars themselves can slide up out of base in order to pivot to an angle. I think this is a really smart design to ensure 90 degree position is correct and solid, which I’ll be using 90% of the time.

    Works as expected
Not as smooth as you might like but does work well. A little silicone spray on the rods helps. No reason to not buy, it is a very nicely made unit!

    Very disappointed!!!
The chuck wobbles and moves the bit around making the holes off center which is the main purpose of this thing. The slide itself is not as smooth as expected but not terrible. The product is good looking and great materials, but I was expecting better functioning quality for this price tag. Very disappointed.

Works Well For Drilling Angles or Insuring Your Bit Is Straight With The Workpiece
It took me a bit to figure out why I couldn’t tip the unit. Then I noticed that the rods that hold the drilling rig go through the base, which keeps a good, solid 90 degree angle to the work piece. After I lifted the rods a bit, I was able to angle the unit easily to what I wanted. There are holes drilled and tapped to accommodate screws to hold the rods above the units base to allow you to angle it easily, but the metric bolts for these were not included with the unit I got. (You can see the rods and the machined holes for the bolts in my pictures looking at the orange slide mechanism). The drill head accepts up to 3/8 inch round bits, or 1/4 inch hex bits. In my drilling video, I simply held the dowel and unit in place, but it would’ve been better to mount the drilling unit to a board to make it easier. The unit worked well. I really like the the holders on the base that allowed for round stock to be centered with the drilling unit. The unit seems stout enough, but it is something that needs to be protected when not in use to prevent the bars from being bent or scratched up, which would make the slides not workable.

    shoddy
Shoddy, smaller than the images make it seem. Cumbersome to loosen the rods so you can tilt the jig at different degrees. Not very robust or sturdy.

    High quality!
If you need to drill straight holes out in a field that is beyond your throat capacity of your drill press these tools are a must have. I have had crappy ones in the past that just frustrated me but this Ol’ School model is built nuclear grade! It’s precision made of top notch materials. Adjustments are easy and smooth. I like that it includes a pipe jig on the base so you can be sure to center holes on round stock when needed. The base can be screwed, clamped or simply held in place as needed. The side uprights can be dropped past the bottom of the base to make a perfect self centering drilling jig for lumber edges. The working end can be tilted for reproducing angled holes over and over. There is also a depth stop that seems to be fine although I have not used it yet. The only thing I would change on it would be the chuck. A keyed chuck is so 80’s but I guess the company is not called Ol’ School for nothing! For right around a hundred bucks this tool represents a lot of handy and should last for a long time even if used in a professional environment daily.Update. Wanted to add a few pictures of this set up for some five degree holes. I added a little drop in indexed block for the bottom just to help me keep stuff straight. One thing to be aware of is the vertical rails need to be sprayed with some balistol or some similar lube from time to time to keep it running smooth. I have used this tool extensively in the time that I have had it and reiterate what a fine product this is. I do have a regular drill press but this is just so handy to bring the press to the piece instead of the other way around.

Solid tool, great fit and finish!
I wanted a solution to drill consistent holes in the banisters of outdoor deck stairs for tubular steel balusters, and this has worked perfectly. It’s far better than free-handing, and much easier than screwing around with a small portable drill press. The tool itself is very nicely made. The aluminum body is machined quite perfectly, and the guide rods allow smooth, consistent travel for your power drill. The hardware that clamps the rotating head is solid as well, and the angle maintains its posture perfectly without any slop. The chuck accommodates most of the usual bits I use, and it’s always appreciated that they included the chuck key to tighten it down.I’ve chosen to mount the entire unit on its own wooden base, as this allows for much more stability when you’re drilling sequential holes along a lengthy piece. The base also has molded-in centering wedges on either end to keep dowels or round stock centered. This will come in useful before long, I’m sure. The depth stop is easy to set and easy to secure, and I haven’t had any issues with it sliding during use. To be fair, I am rather gentle with all my tools…like most of anything, if you force it or hit it, it may shift.I think my biggest takeaway from this tool is its overall build quality. The design, the machining, the fit and finish…it’s all on par with some of the nicest tools I own. I’d fully expect this to last the duration of my time and then some.Altogether, this is a very fine and useful tool, and well worth the investment.

Tried this for drilling at 90° and 45° so far by just setting the angle by the inbuilt gauge and the results were spot on. This is the second O’SKOOL tool I have tried so far and the build quality and finish are amazing, better than some of the top leading brands. When using it with the guide rods raised out of the base, for any angle other than 90° there is a slight torque reaction against the two rods which makes the slide bind slightly, doesn’t affect the accuracy and is something which would be helped with a drop of light machine oil or lithium grease on the slides and only using sharp drill bits. I particularly like the way the base has been cast to include a V to hold round stock, the fact that the guide rods can be dropped below the bottom of the base so it can be used to automatically find the centre line and the inclusion of a 1:1 scale template of the base so you can make custom jigs. Not cheap at £98 but a very well made tool which when used with care will give excellent results.

I got this multi-angle drill guide for my husband to use in the garage for his DIY projects, and it hasn’t disappointed. It’s solidly built and does exactly what it’s meant to—keeps drilling precise, especially when working at 90 degrees. He was building a large dining table and needed something reliable for installing threaded inserts, so we both wanted to be sure the holes were perfectly straight. The design is well thought out, with rods that lock into place at 90 degrees, ensuring stability.Adjusting the angle takes a bit of effort since you have to loosen the hex screws on the guide posts, but that’s actually a good thing—it means everything stays secure when locked in place. The base also has holders that help center round stock, which is a nice feature if you’re drilling into dowels or pipes. One thing to keep in mind is that, while the construction is sturdy, the guide bars need to be handled with care. If they get bent or scratched, the sliding mechanism won’t work as smoothly. It’s definitely not the cheapest drill guide out there at £98 (at the time of writing), but the quality is excellent. As long as it’s well taken care of, it should hold up well and deliver consistently accurate results for all his projects.
