I, like so many people, pay a lot of attention to the reviews of others here and, after having read a number of very negative reviews of this tower shelf lamp, nearly didnât order it. However, after comparing it with several other options, I decided to take a chance on it.Glad I did. Honestly, I have absolutely no idea what so many others have found to complain about with this unit.Letâs start with what should be pretty obvious (to nearly anyone): the material of this lamp is not natural wood. How, at this price point, would you be expecting it to be?? Seriously.Ok. So the material is not natural wood. But, thatâs perfectly fine. In this instance, the dense, painted, fiberboard that this appears to be made from has been done very well. The individual pieces felt solid, with a nice weight to each, and had a nice finish on them.The unit arrived in a small box. When unpacking it, I found all of the materials were individually wrapped and well protected. Everything needed was there (you will need a Philipâs screwdriver), and it took only maybe 20 minutes to put together. And this was me taking my time. Youâll want to take your time with this, too. The materials are fine, but if you rush, or attempt to over-tighten certain parts, I could see how you could cause damage. This shouldnât be considered a knock against this product. Over tightening fasteners on any piece of furniture is a great way to damage it. Be smarter than the fastener.One I had the shelf together, it felt very stable, doesnât wiggle at all, and the light provided was just what I was looking for in this darker corner.The light pullchain pulls smoothly and also felt good. Overall, this is a very nice, inexpensive, shelf light.You could honestly do far far worse, or spend a lot more for a unit that might not be substantially better.Donât be afraid of the bad reviews. Know what youâre ordering and set your expectations accordingly.Place some care in assembling, and I think youâll be just as pleased as I am thus far.

Good, If You Know What You’re Getting
Coming up with a review for this lamp was… not easy.On the one hand, it’s really a cheap piece of junk. If you’re the kind of person who thinks that all Ikea furniture is flimsy garbage, then just run far, far away. The construction of this lamp/shelf is worse in every way than the cheapest stuff you’ll find there. I’m the kind of person who thinks that well-assembled flatpack furniture ranges from fine to great, and I still find the materials used in this lamp to be unacceptably cheap. The veneer is inconsistent and scratches off easily, the engineered wood is shockingly flimsy, and the whole thing is too light to offer any kind of stability. The shade also absorbs a huge amount of light, so it’s pretty dim, too.On the other hand, you won’t find this style of lamp much cheaper anywhere else, and the slightly pricier versions at big-box retailers have the exact same quality issues. It also looks good… from a distancee. If you want something that can act as a display case while providing a bit of light, then this is a cheap and good option. If you need more light, then a bulb Y-splitter will increase the light level from “poor” to “acceptable.” Assembly is also very easy and the instructions are clear. The cheap materials do mean that you need to be careful during while building it since it’s not hard to scratch the veneer or even damage the poles.Would I recommend it? Sure, with caveats. I wouldn’t use it as a nightstand or end table where you’ll routinely be messing with stuff on the shelves. It’s just too flimsy and it really does feel like you’ll knock it over if you touch it. If you’re going to put it on carpet, then get some spikes or something. In general, I would strongly recommend placing something heavy on the bottom shelf for stability. I’ve got a decorative wood box on the second shelf and I think the box is heavier than the entire lamp. I’d also recommend using smart bulbs just because I don’t trust the pull chain to last.All that said, it’s a nice display piece and it does look really, really good as long as you don’t inspect it too closely. It provides nice mood lighting for a room, and with a bulb splitter it can be a decent primary light for a small-ish space. It’s also not any cheaper or crappier than the very, very similar lamps that cost twice as much. If you know what you’re buying and you’re okay with the flaws, then it’s good for the price.

I like the design of this lamp. It was a little confusing to assemble at first, but after looking at the manual for a while, I figured it out, so I ordered another one. The brightness is pretty good and does the average job or even more. Im my opinion, I think that it’s pretty sturdy, but I would recommend that you keep it still just in case the lamp is not as sturdy as when you are moving it around. Overall, this lamp is great and I would buy it again!

I am super happy with the light diffusion. It was easy to set up but you have to be careful to not split the wood when screwing. It is cheap wood but it is expected for the price. It is a bit wobbly. Wouldnât survive around kids and pets. If you want to set it in a corner and never touch it though, it will do the job.
