Benefits & Use Cases
This hand drill is particularly valued by hobbyists and artists who require a simple, reliable tool for small drilling tasks. It performs well in crafting applications such as making holes in fabric, paper, light wood, or thin plastic—common materials in DIY projects, scrapbooking, and textile crafts. The lightweight nature and compact size allow users to work on delicate surfaces without applying excessive pressure, significantly reducing the risk of tearing or damaging the material. Unlike motorized drills, this manual tool gives users complete tactile control over force and direction, which is essential for intricate work.
Because no electricity or batteries are needed, it offers immediate usability—simply insert a compatible drill bit, secure your material, and begin. This makes it ideal for use in spaces without power access or for quick fixes during creative sessions. Its portability also means it can be stored easily alongside other crafting supplies, keeping your workspace organized and clutter-free.
While not designed for high-volume or industrial drilling, this tool shines in environments where precision and control matter most. Whether you’re installing tiny buttons, creating patterns in cardstock, or assembling small craft kits, the Fiskars DIY Precision Hand Drill provides a dependable solution that balances function with user-friendly design.
Important Notes
Customer feedback indicates mixed opinions on the drill’s accuracy, suggesting that results may vary depending on the user’s technique and expectations. Achieving consistent hole placement and clean edges often requires practice and steady hands. For best results, use sharp, compatible drill bits and apply gentle, steady pressure—excessive force can cause slipping or breakage.
This tool is best used with appropriate safety precautions, including eye protection and secure material placement. Always ensure the workpiece is clamped or held firmly to prevent movement during drilling. No batteries or external power source are required, making it a plug-and-play option for immediate use. Package contents are not specified in available details, but typical retail packaging includes the drill unit only unless otherwise noted at purchase. Compatibility with standard drill bits (typically 1.5mm–3mm range) should be verified based on project requirements.
While some users praise its build quality and convenience, others note limitations in fine-tuned precision, which is common with manual tools. As such, it is best suited for those prioritizing ease of use, durability, and portability over ultra-high accuracy. For advanced users seeking micrometer-level control, dedicated precision tools may be more appropriate—but for everyday crafting needs, this drill remains a solid, accessible choice.

Backup to an electric drill.
It has great precision for making holes when you need to add hardware. Easier on your hand. Great for light projects exe: shelving, drilling holes in buckets for irrigation, and putting in fixtures for paintings on walls.

Better than I expected
This looks and feels like a child’s toy, but it actually works pretty well. It’s way better than the manual drill I had been using for years, which is just a fixed drill bit on a wide handle. I got a DeWalt drill bit set to use with it, because I needed a wider range of sizes, so I actually haven’t yet used the 4 drill bits that come with it. For simple tasks like making screw holes in drywall or wood, I don’t need anything more powerful. And it doesn’t make sense for me to buy a powered drill, because I would only use it once a year or so, and I would worry about the battery just rotting away. One suggestion for Fiskars, I would pay extra if it came with a nice, compact case to store everything in a non-awkward way.

IT WORKS
I bought this to fix pickets on my wood fence. Every now and then a picket will come loose and needs to have a couple of screws put in the picket. This worked so well. Easy to drill a couple of holes for the screws. I am an older lady and electric drills are not in my wheelhouse. I am really impressed with how well this works and how easy it is to use. Would highly recommend to any one.

Amazing!!!
Purchased this for a “handy-man” child. He loves it and it worked very well! We have drilled LOTS of holes! I could definitely use this around the house and on craft projects where the big drill is just too heavy. Perfect for drilling small pieces of wood were you might catch your finger with a power drill or split something fragile. This is a great gadget!!

Perfect for that annoying apt neighbor that complains about noise
We live in apt building and needed to build some shelves. Using the impact drill to drill into the wall studs quickly got us in trouble and multiple neighbors pounding on the door saying itâs too much. We bought this drill and it took quite a bit longer to get the job done but no more complaints after using this drill instead of power tools. My only gripe is the angle of the handle it should be a 90 degree angle not the weird tilt it has on it it makes applying pressure straight and level not feel right and weird and honestly a bit uncomfortable if you have to push really hard. I guess gets the job done and not too expensive but yeah change the angle of the handle and youâll get 5 stars.

Good tool for the non-handyman.
Liked the ease of use. Just wish the drill bits could be stored in handle.

Had an older version of this manual drill that came in handy but eventually the handle fell off. So replaced with this.. seems okay so far. Hard to tell how robust it is, but seems pretty good. The only downside is that this new model uses the same hand-tighten chuck as the old one did. This means you can only tighten the drill bit by hand, and I have already experienced a situation where the drill got stock in the wood and I had to remove it with a wrench. No idea why the donât design this with a proper chuck key mechanism.
