Product Overview
The Fellow Atmos Vacuum Coffee Canister & Food Storage Container is a thoughtfully designed, airtight storage solution built to preserve the freshness of your favorite dry goods. With a 1.2-liter capacity—perfect for holding up to 16 ounces of coffee beans—this canister combines elegant minimalist aesthetics with practical vacuum sealing technology. Whether you’re storing freshly roasted coffee, aromatic spices, or pantry staples like tea and nuts, the Atmos delivers a modern upgrade to traditional food storage. Its transparent design lets you see contents at a glance, while the twist-lock mechanism creates a reliable seal that helps extend shelf life by reducing oxygen exposure.
Key Features
- Airtight Vacuum Seal: The Atmos features a powerful silicone ring integrated into its lid, which forms an airtight barrier when twisted shut. This mechanism removes air from inside the container, significantly limiting oxygen contact—the primary cause of staleness in coffee and other perishable dry goods.
- Versatile Storage Solution: While ideal for coffee beans, this canister also excels at preserving the flavor and aroma of loose-leaf tea, whole spices like peppercorns, nuts such as peanuts, and any other dry ingredient you want to keep fresh longer.
- Sleek, Minimalist Design: Crafted with clean lines and a modern profile, the Atmos enhances kitchen décor whether displayed on a countertop or nestled within a pantry. Its transparent body allows easy visibility of contents without needing to open the lid.
- Food-Safe Materials: Made from food-safe 304 18/8 stainless steel, the container ensures durability and safe storage for everyday use. The high-quality material resists corrosion and maintains integrity over time.
- Hand Wash Recommended: To preserve both the vacuum seal and the finish of the stainless steel, it’s best to wash the Atmos by hand rather than placing it in the dishwasher.

Benefits & Use Cases
The Fellow Atmos shines in its ability to maintain the peak flavor and fragrance of coffee beans by minimizing oxidation—a major contributor to staleness. Many users report that coffee stored in the Atmos retains its fresh taste significantly longer between uses, especially when compared to traditional open containers or standard lidded jars. The vacuum-sealed environment helps lock in the essential oils responsible for rich aroma and complex flavor notes, making every brew feel as vibrant as the first cup.
Beyond coffee, the Atmos serves as a versatile pantry organizer. Spice enthusiasts appreciate how it keeps whole peppercorns, cumin seeds, or cinnamon sticks fresher for months, while tea lovers find that loose-leaf varieties retain their delicate flavors better when protected from air and moisture. Nuts and grains also benefit from reduced rancidity and improved texture over time. The stackable design makes it easy to create a cohesive, space-efficient storage system in cabinets or on shelves.
One of the most appreciated aspects of the Atmos is its visual appeal. The combination of clear glass or transparent body with a sleek metal lid offers a contemporary look that fits seamlessly into modern kitchens. Users often mix and match different sizes or colors to build a personalized storage set that’s both functional and stylish. Whether placed on display or tucked away, it adds a touch of sophistication to any kitchen layout.
Additionally, the ability to quickly check contents without opening the lid reduces unnecessary air exchange, further protecting stored items from degradation. This feature is particularly useful for coffee drinkers who prefer to measure beans on demand without compromising freshness.
Important Notes
While many customers praise the Atmos for its attractive design, ease of use, and effective initial sealing performance, feedback on long-term vacuum retention has been mixed. Some users report that the seal does not consistently maintain pressure beyond a few hours or days, especially if the lid isn’t fully tightened or if the silicone ring becomes worn. Environmental factors, such as temperature fluctuations or frequent opening, can also impact the seal’s effectiveness.
It’s important to ensure the lid is twisted firmly and completely to engage the vacuum mechanism. Regular inspection of the silicone ring for signs of wear or damage is recommended to maintain optimal performance. Although the container works well for short-term storage between coffee uses, those needing extended preservation—such as for commercial settings or long-term grain storage—should consider whether the Atmos meets their needs.
As with any vacuum-sealed product, results may vary based on usage patterns and care. Following the hand-wash recommendation helps protect the finish and prolong the life of both the stainless steel and the internal seal. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh detergents that could degrade the silicone over time.
Overall, the Fellow Atmos Vacuum Coffee Canister delivers a compelling blend of style, functionality, and practicality for home baristas and kitchen organizers. Its ability to preserve freshness and elevate countertop presentation makes it a popular choice among those who value both form and function in their daily routines.

A delight, and great customer service
love this canister. And as youâll see further down, Iâve come to love the company, whose customer service is astounding.I first heard of the Atmos when I saw it praised on YouTube by a marvelously thorough British coffee expert, James Hoffman. Who did wonder about paying $30 for a storage canister, but found it kept coffee fresher than any other option.I say that if you care about coffee â and maybe spent at least this much on a scale, and much more for a grinder â thereâs no reason you wouldnât want the Atmos. Which, on top of how well it works, is elegant, and a pleasure to use. After you close it, you twist the cap back and forth, until a button on top goes down, showing green from the space around it. This expels air from the inside, so your coffee sits in something approaching a vacuum. Then, when you want some coffee, you press a button on top, and air whooshes in. Now you can unscrew the top. And smell fresh coffee.Of course it wonât keep coffee fresh forever â nothing will â but it does a great job, And gives you confidence that it does, because itâs both elegant and solidly built, and because you feel the air going out as you twist (the twists keep feeling firmer), and because you can hear the air whooshing out.So, customer service! So many points for Fellow. When I bought this, it didnât work. The seal wouldnât stay sealed, for more than a few hours. When I told them about this, they replied the next day â on a weekend (!) â explaining what the problem was, and suggesting a fix.And then on their own initiative, they emailed two days later to ask if the fix had worked! It hadnât, so they immediately sent me a new top for the thing , even sending email updates, as few smaller companies do, tracking the shipment and telling me when the item would arrive. The new top works. Happy customer. One note to anyone buying this, and a suggestion to the company. Expelling air from the thing can take as many as 30 twists. Nothing that comes in the box tells us that, so at first I thought the seal didnât work at all. Maybe Fellow doesnât want to scare us off, but still, since this is a fact about the canister (as they confirmed to me), we might as well be told. If anyone thinks 30 twists is too much for fresh coffee, thatâs your choice. But Iâm not bothered. I could even say Iâm helping out with my coffeeâs freshness, and getting a little morning exercise. ðHighly recommended, especially for coffee obsessive. I also btw have Fellowâs Ode coffee grinder, a truly thoroughbred piece of gear.

Effective cansiter for lengthening freshness of coffee beans.
I like these canisters because they keep freshly roasted coffee beans at peak freshness until I’ve used them up (usually 10 days from opening a bag). Some say the seals don’t hold, but that’s not ever been my experience (with three of them, over four years) — what happens is the beans outgas CO2, which is a gas actually protective of coffee bean freshness. Freshly-roasted beans outgas quite rapidly, but this process slows down considerably (even for a year or more). The only reason for outside air to enter through the seal is if bean chaff or other small particles get stuck in the rim of the canister by the lid – hard to see, but running a fingernail covered with a facial tissue gets this crud out (usually, if you’re pouring beans out of the canister vice spooning them out. Mine have worked wonderfully. The 700cc size canister will usually hold the coffee from a 12oz bag – in cases where it doesn’t, using some of the coffee right away solves this problem (I never open a bag unless I’m going to use some right away anyway).

Received two, both defective
I ordered one of these in late November 23, and by early February 24, the indicator seal was decompressing on its own after a day or two – the container was defective and wouldn’t hold a vacuum – its sole purpose. Initially, customer service said that they would have Fellow (the seller) contact me within 2 business days about a refund. I never heard from the seller, so I reached back out to Amazon.Although I was technically outside the Amazon 30-day return window, it’s absurd that a $40 vacuum seal container would stop holding a seal after only about two months. I contacted customer service, and although they didn’t have the option to issue a return directly, they suggested I purchase a second container and said I could reach out as soon as I received it for customer service to issue a “returnless refund,” functionally replacing the initial defective one for no cost.I received the second canister, which seemed to work…for almost two weeks. Then, I noticed that the vacuum indicator button remains depressed – indicating the canister is under an airtight seal – even when the lid is fully off. So, this second canister is also defective. And, since I technically already had a refund issued for this second “purchase,” I can’t return the second canister for a third canister (or for an additional refund). So now I am stuck with two defective canisters, having paid for one and wanting neither. Fellow products look lovely (with a price that reflects that keen design), but this item doesn’t work for the one thing it is supposed to do.Learn from my loss: don’t put yourself in my situation where you’re stuck with a piece of pretty junk you can’t return that stops working almost immediately after the Amazon return window closes.

Do it. Calms your OCD and makes your coffee happy
How to store that $24 pound of beans so the last grind is as delicious as the first? Bada. Boom.Big winner across the board. Function, capacity, aesthetic. All get five stars only because there isn’t a sixth. Is it expensive? Yes. Will you regret it? Nope.I’m five grinds in and I still giggle each time I seal in the contents. Love the design, look & feel, and the quality of the materials and finish. Just big enough to hold 16oz of beans. Very subtle – almost stealthy – appearance. It makes your grinder look more sexy.I recommend without hesitation.

We bought a small container and were hoping that the vacuum would keep the avocado nice and green but unfortunately it made no difference and it turned brown.

*updated review*Read and watched several reviews on this product before I pulled the trigger.1. The canister was already vacuumed out when it arrived, who knows for how long, but hopefully a sign of what is to come instead of the negative/faulty reviews on this product.2. Emptied out my freshly opened 454g (1lb) bag of beans, but it does not hold all of it. Good enough for me as I scooped out about a week’s worth of beans to make enough space, and to test whether the canister can maintain about a week.of vacuum while I finish up the beans I scooped out.3. Regarding the faulty vacuum that I’ve been reading on many reviews, I can only hope these people had freshly roasted beans to put into the canister, as beans will release CO2. Maybe these beans were releasing CO2 enough to pop the vacuum seal? Guess I’ll find out whether this happens to my canister.Otherwise a good looking/feeling product, not a slippery canister to me as some people mention. The air release button is very satisfying to push, what with the whoosh noise the canister makes when it breaks the seal.*My initial vacuum lasted from Thursday PM to Sunday AM. I contacted Fellows support to ask about this, and they told me that this will happen, and they usually suggest re-vacuuming every 4-5 days. I missed this in their product description on their actual webpage, and it clearly states that you will need to revacuum every 4-5 days. Once I revacuumed my beans in Sunday morning, the seal lasted up until I needed to open it on Friday morning (5 days).I am very happy with this product, but would definitely contact customer support if the vacuum lasted less than a day like some reviews I’ve read. Hopefully this item lasts longer than a few weeks, and I’m going to be conscious about not over-vacuuming to hopefully preserve the sealing mechanism.
