I ordered this Rio Salto 76″ Bi-Fold Sliding Barn Door Hardware Track Kit to solve a particular problem with lack of space.I have framed out a knee wall storage area and it requires some 30″ tall doors. We are space saving conscious for in front of the storage as well as requiring as much space inside the storage area as possible. I figured that sliding doors on a track would be the easiest, but 1/4″ material, 30″ tall will probably sag and not work well. I need doors that won’t sag, yet are thin enough so as to not take a lot of space.This Rio Salto kit is built for door panels to be between 1inch-1.75 inches wide.An alternative is a Bypass Door system, but it’s track is like 4″ wide and requires doors to be between 1&3/8″ and 1&3/4″…but at least most of the hardware is hidden.Bottom line for this Rio Salto 76″ Bi-Fold kit is that the hardware is exposed and the doors stand out from the track attachment point.This kit is best suited for a taller opening than what I intended to use it for. This is due to the overall size of the finished installation…The door straps extend down the door panel 6.5 inches, the roller and strap are just over 12″ long.The exposed hardware was the deal breaker for my wife. We decided to use this kit on a taller opening in the future.Five stars for this kit. The hardware and gold finish is outstanding. The machining is wonderful…I like how the track fits together like a jigsaw puzzle. The rollers really glide well on the track.The third picture on the product page shows an overall track length of 76″, but then it shows a “Door Opening of 72″ or Less” (indicating 2 door panels), with a door panel being 18″ wide maximum. The “Door Opening of 72″ or Less” is incorrect as shown. The picture should show the distance indicator including 4 door panels…not 2.

Glides nicely
These are easy to install and glide smoothly. Pretty heavy duty so they should have no problem with weight from any type of door. The gold is a lot more yellow than expected so keep that in mind if you are color coordinating with other gold finishes. This is just the frame so you will need to purchase the doors separately. Make sure to measure to get the correct sized doors.

Solved a tricky problem in mounting an insulated door on my goat shed.
I had been trying to figure out all summer how to mount an insulated flexible door over the doorway of my male goats’ shed, and this hardware solved my problem.I like that it is aluminum and will not rust. The hardware is appropriate, although I had to supplement because of my situation, and the rollers move smoothly.I provide a large plastic shed on a raised platform with a ramp for my male goats. The hanging plastic strip freezer type door that I use for the girls wouldn’t work to block drafts coming through the door but allow the boys to come and go as they pleased, so I got a flexible insulated hanging door with a midline magnetic closure. This hanging door is the width of their door opening, but this barn door track is twice as long. I had to mount two 1 X 4’s above the door, sandwiching the thick plastic wall between them, and mounted the track to this.So, in cold weather the hanging door stays positioned over the door opening and the boys can walk through the center magnetic opening. When the weather is nice, I simply slide the hanging door aside and leave the door opening uncovered. My door does not fold because there is enough room to slide the entire door aside.So far, I’m loving this door. The goats aren’t commenting, but I’m pretty sure they appreciate the extra warmth. I recommend this product.

Upon opening the box, it was apparent that great care was taken in the manufacturing and packaging of this barn door hardware kit. Every piece looks fantastic, and all are well-machined. The instructions are illustrated and very detailed–the best I’ve seen for this type of product. The photographs tell the story. I can hardly wait to put them up in my garage so I can open up my 1-bay woodshop area when I need more space!
