Brilliant idea, good execution, but battery life is lacking
This deadbolt is a great addition to any home, especially if you have people who forget to lock the door or who come and go often. It has some really great features. We have it set to automatically lock so no one forgets to lock the door. We also love the ability to unlock the door with our palm. It’s almost a hands-free operation. You can add a variety of unique codes to provide different individuals with access. You can even set a duration of time that the code will work so that it turns off after a certain time. All these features can be added or removed via an app. My only complaint is that the rechargeable battery doesn’t seem to last very long. We installed it in the fall and it does seem as though the battery has died more quickly now that it has gotten cold. I wonder if it will have a better lifespan in warmer weather. Regardless, right now, the battery dies really quickly, so it’s critical that we always carry a key with us.This lock is my husband’s favorite of the 3 different electronic locks that we have tried. I personally prefer the name brand lock because the instructions on use are much clearer. I love the variety of options on this one, but it’s really difficult to figure out how to modify anything using only the keypad, even though instructions are provided. The instructions just aren’t that great and don’t account for all the things you can do. Additionally, the app isn’t entirely intuitive. You can figure it out, but it certainly has room for improvement. It seems like something that was made in another country, although it was made quite well. I personally would rather have very clear instructions and an app that is easy to understand. I imagine there’s probably additional functionality that we’re not able to take advantage of because it’s not clearly stated in the app or in the instructions. Regardless, it is an excellent lock with lots of features.
