Sturdy and Easy to Assemble
When I first moved into my Kindergarten class, there were 3 sets of bookcases that were more designed for a living room than a classroom. I used those shelves for years. This past week, all of the classrooms in my school were painted. Knowing that I would start the year with a “fresh start” I investigated options for a new way to display my children’s books. I am familiar with other ECR4Kids classroom furniture. I found this birch bookcase for a reasonable price. It arrived quickly, and I assembled it by myself. The allen wrench and all of the hardware were packaged and easy to identify. I just needed a phillips head screwdriver to finish putting it together. I was able to condense all of my books from the three different bookcases onto this one. My classroom has a whole new look!

The Replacement Bookcase is Perfect!
The bookcase assembled without any particular problems but I did not notice the left side was slightly warped outward which keeps the shelves from locking in properly. I’ve been able to work around that problem by keeping the shelves closer to the top and bottom and leaving a larger gap in the center where the gap is widest.I suggest any buyer take greater care than I did to confirm there is no warpage in the pieces before assembly is begun. Other than that the bookcase looks good and is serving the purpose I had planned for it; no children are involved or I would be unable to use it in its present condition.

It is an okay bookcase, shipping was below average.
Shipping was below average, as the box arrived partially opened. Parts could move inside the box during shipping, so as expected there were a few scoff marks on different parts, nothing serious though. My intended purpose for this item was not for children, but merely a middle of the road quality bookcase to storing my art supplies. I picked this model mostly for its dimensions and the ability to adjust the shelves’ position, but there are higher quality options out there, for a higher price of course.Still, for $222.29 including shipping, item description, and materials listed I was expecting a higher quality bookcase (for instance, one of the four shelves was noticeably warped). As for assembly, if you are good with tools, and have skills with your hands, assembly should be pretty straight forward. Only one Allen wrench (included) and one Philip screwdriver (not included) are required. The box is heavy for one person only, but manageable for the average guy. Made in China (if it matters to you). I prefer a better quality, so I would not buy this bookcase again.

Do not buy this bookcase.
Do not buy this bookcase, especially if you are using it for kiddos. This shelf lasted about three days and then collapsed, almost toppling onto a staff member. The problem was the holes for the screws that hold the shelves to the frame splintered and the shelves fell. Return was easy however.

I bought two of these one of the shelves is perfect. However the 2nd one needs to be sanded and gave my dad a splinter from being so rough and having pieces of rough wood! Not safe for young kids.
