Product Overview
The Amazon Basics Grade 3 Electronic Touchscreen Deadbolt Door Lock is designed to provide a reliable and convenient entry solution for residential doors. Built with security and user convenience in mind, this lock features a touchscreen interface that allows keyless access without the need for physical keys. It is ideal for homeowners seeking an affordable electronic upgrade to their home’s entry system while maintaining a solid level of protection.
Suitable for interior doors, this deadbolt offers a modern alternative to traditional locks, combining ease of use with basic electronic functionality. Its design integrates seamlessly into standard door preparations, making it a practical choice for renters or those upgrading existing hardware. The lock operates using batteries and does not require hardwiring, which simplifies both installation and maintenance.
While the product delivers on core expectations of a budget-friendly electronic deadbolt, real-world performance can vary based on usage environment and installation quality. Customers have reported mixed experiences with long-term durability and responsiveness of the touchscreen, so it is best suited for low-to-moderate traffic areas where maximum security demands are not critical.

Key Features

Benefits & Use Cases
This deadbolt is well-suited for interior doors where keyless convenience is desired but high-security demands are minimal. Common applications include basement doors, closet entrances, laundry rooms, or any secondary entry point within the home. Its lack of external power requirements makes it ideal for locations where running wires is impractical.
For individuals who frequently misplace keys or prefer not to carry them, the touchscreen code entry offers a straightforward alternative. The lock also supports multiple user codes, which can be beneficial for households sharing access or for temporary guests. However, because it lacks advanced smart-home integration or remote access capabilities, it is not compatible with Wi-Fi systems or voice assistants.
The reversible installation feature adds flexibility during setup, allowing the same model to adapt to varying door configurations without needing a specialized install kit. This reduces installation time and cost, especially for DIY users.
Important Notes
Customer feedback indicates some units may experience reduced reliability over time, including issues such as unresponsive touchscreens or mechanical failure after limited use. These reports suggest variability in build quality across production batches.
The touchscreen interface has been criticized by several users for being slow or inconsistent in responding to inputs, particularly in humid or cold environments. This could impact usability for certain households.
Functionality, ease of installation, and overall durability have received mixed reviews. While some users appreciate the simplicity and affordability, others report dissatisfaction with long-term performance. Installation requires basic tools and familiarity with lock mechanisms, though no professional help is strictly necessary.
This product is packaged with the deadbolt, mounting hardware, and instructions. Batteries are typically not included, so users should prepare them before beginning installation.

Love this deadbolt/door handle set!
We love this door handle with a touchscreen deadbolt. The first deadbolt we received didnât work correctly, but the company was great about sending a replacement keypad. The replacement has worked great. I couldnât find anything this affordable in the local home improvement stores with this contemporary style.

CAUTION! Try something else!!
Installation and setup were okay and the overall look is nice. The instructions left a little to be desired but I got it installed and programmed eventually. However, itâs been less than 3 months and anytime thereâs the slightest bit of rain the exterior keypad is triggered causing button clicks/sounds at all times of the day. The first few times I genuinely thought someone was trying to guess my code and break into my home. Tried wiping it down but it didnât help. This constant false triggering of the keypad also drains the batteries quite a bit, Iâve already had to replace them once in the first two months. Extremely disappointed in the product and would NOT recommend. Spend a little more money for a quality product and for the peace of mind. Iâm half afraid the rain will one day guess the right code and my door will unlock for anyone to come in and take what they want. Lol.

THE KEYPAD IS SUPPOSED TO SHOW ONLY SOME NUMBERS
At first, I thought that the keypad was broken like a lot of reviewers on here, but I continue to read the instructions and found out that it is a security feature. Only a few numbers and/or the arrow or unlock key will show up before the full keypad shows up. You have to touch each number or symbol that shows up on the digital screen and then the full keypad, with all the numbers, will appear so that you can enter your code.Other than having to figure out that feature, it is an excellent lock and door knob for the price. It works great, nothing sticks, and it looks sleek, especially from the outside. You cannot beat it for the price. My only complaint would be that the screws are a little obvious on the interior side of the lock and door knob, but that is probably why it is so inexpensive. All in all, though it looks better and works better than my previous quickset lock and handle that cost hundreds of dollars.

It is good butâ¦
I really think this product is a great value. It is significantly cheaper than the name brands and the electronic features work great The only downside is that the screws for the door handle component strip easily. I was very careful and used a roughened bit, but they still stripped. As a result, the handle tends to shift to the right, when you engage it. I get how some people have left. Their own devices would torque the screws down and the deadbolt wouldnât work. But as they are design, they are somewhat problematic.Iâm going try the rubber band on the bit trick when I have a chance and hopefully will be able to tighten them down a bit more so that the handle doesnât shift when you use it. I wouldâve sent it back, but short of drilling rhe screws out, I donât think I can remove them in their current stripped state.

Make sure the batteries are strong
Ok – so I want to like this deadbolt — It’s a pretty good price (I even got the ‘Like new’ Amazon Warehouse deal for a hefty discount) and it looks the part of a good dead bolt. So, the installation was very much like other deadbolts (It replaced a Schlage Wi-Fi dead bolt that decided it was no longer going to function after a couple of years of good service). This was a fairly easy install – I even did it without instructions (paper instructions were not included in this Amazon Warehouse used package). It was set up very very much like the Schlage it replaced. I finally did need to find the instructions (which Amazon provides online in a .pdf). I needed the instructions to figure out how to program it. I followed the programming instructions (almost*) to a ‘T’ and everything was working as designed… If you are having problems with this dead bolt please make sure you read the instructions – particularly about the random numbers that present themselves before you enter the programmed user code – this is a ‘feature’ that aims to make it more difficult for people to observe the password you enter (and prevents the keypad from wearing out specifically on the numbers in your person code – for example if your code is ‘9797’ then of course the 9 and 7 keys will show more fingerprints and indications of wear). Note that you can disable this (it’s also in the instructions). Now, everything was working correctly for a few days – and then the lock seemed to go crazy — like it lost its programmed mind. I would enter my code and it would beep 3 times at me and not unlock. It wouldn’t lock. Different keys would light up and it made no sense at all. I finally decided it must really be defective and was going to return it to Amazon (and still might depending). But then I thought of something. Remember when I said I followed the user instructions to a ‘T’ — ALMOST. Well, I didn’t have any alkaline batteries handy – so I put some rechargeable batteries in (they were charged up — which I checked). So I got to thinking — maybe the lock is trying to tell me the batteries have issues? and the motorized lock did sound like it was struggling a bit before it started acting all crazy. So, I bought some new strong alkaline batteries and put those in. Now everything is working again and the motor sounds strong when it locks and unlocks. Now I need to see how long these batteries will last … maybe the rechargeable ones just wore down to fast. One thing, this lock has an auto-lock feature which locks after a default of 30 seconds (this also can be configure for time and disabled). With the auto-lock the lock is doing at least twice the amount of work that mu Schlage was doing (because we would lock the Schlage only by hand).I will need to monitor this lock a bit more and may be increasing/decreasing my rating accordingly. If these new Amazon Alkaline batteries only afford a couple of weeks or less of power, then I probably will be returning the lock.If the batteries hold for a while (the Schlage with a similar 4 AA Battery setup would last about 6 months on average I think), then I may bump this lock up to a 4-star rating. I think the programming interface could be designed just a bit better, and perhaps the lock should just have a low battery or level indicator(s) and not act maniacal when the batteries are low? That would be much preferred. I don’t think I saw much in the instructions on how to determine that the batteries are weak.

Great product
My husband and I bought this for our townhome. We love it!! So easy to use and perfect to not have to hassle to get a house key out! Weâve have it for 2 years now and worked no problem. I think weâve replaced the batteries (4) one time!

Not the easiest to use
I couldnât wait to swap this lock out for a new one after installing and using it for a few weeks. The handle works well, the lock itself is subpar. Constantly gets stuck no matter how many times I readjusted it and chiseled the hole in the doorframe. The keypad goes into a pointless security mode that only shows a few numbers before allowing you to input your personal code to unlock the door.Overall the best thing about this is the door handle and the appearance of the lock. Functionality wise, not impressed by a long shot. Gets 2 stars just because of the handle, outside of that not worth the buy.
