The best bed for my North American Nesting Hound
“This is my bed. There are many like it, but this one is mine.” -Creed of the North American Nesting Hound.Yeah, my dog loves this bed. She nests wherever she sleeps, making this product is perfect for her. I’m glad the hoop can come out easily, since she prefers to burrow. She’s been through a few, because I wasn’t quick enough to order a replacement cover before she dug through to the foam on the first bed. We are on her 2nd bed, 1st replacement cover. It’s not because the bed isn’t well made, it is, but she has to scratch and circle before settling in. They last pretty well considering the talons this dog has for claws. We get about a year and a half out of a cover. At ~$20 for a replacement cover, that other products don’t even offer, this is a very fair deal.I like that the cover is very easily washed. If you can wash a pillow case, you can wash this. Wash separately, of course. The fact that you can order a replacement cover instead of a whole new bed is amazing and set this apart from the knockoffs. I did not deduct a star from “chew proof”, but it would be nice to see a tougher surface area that might hold up to claws. I’ve gotten the faux sheepskin previously, but for this new order I’m trying the micro-velvet to see if it’s more durable.She loves this bed. Cold winter nights when I barely have the heat on? She’s in the bed. 112° outside and even hot in the house? She’s in the bed. Snoring. In the bed, on the bed…it’s all good, it’s like having a blanket that magically never shoves over and falls off. Just right for a short dog that’s tired of dealing with stairs to get on the human bed.GREAT product, will continue to buy.

Quality Control Issue
This bed is just great! It’s exactly what I needed for my dog, that likes to sleep under the covers in my bed. You may want to buy a size bigger than suggested if your dog’s weight is on the cusp. My dog is 14.4 lbs and I got the 26″ bed. I would not have been happy if I got the suggested 18″ bed. I am going in for surgery in a few weeks and need to prepare my dog to sleep on the floor, since the folks that are looking after her won’t let her sleep with them. This Furhaven Pet Dog Bed will make the transition seamless. In fact, I may have my dog continue to sleep in it when I return from the hospital.I gave this bed 4 stars because of very poor manufacture and quality control. The access point where I am supposed to be able to put the plastic rod through was completely sealed up. When they sewed the Velcro on, they stitched all the way through. Since I was going to have to return it, I figured I had nothing to lose, so I took my knife and slit the threads holding the Velcro to the bed. All is well now as I was able to get the rod through from one end to the other. I’m expecting, at some time or another, the Velcro to come off entirely. I’ll cross that bridge when I get there.

Disappointed: Smaller than pictured and not a tent
This bed is shown with a Boxer on it. My dog is a small female boxer and does not fit. I wish I would have gotten a larger size. Also the flap does not have any way to stay up, tent-like, as shown. There are no poles included. There’s no way my dog could go inside even if there were – the opening is quite small. The bed itself is cushy and the fabric seems durable.

Some assembly required but ok for the price
This arrived in a vacuum packed package and I had to put it together myself. It’s just a piece of thick egg crate foam that you slip into the case like a pillow, then zip up. That was mildly difficult because it should fit tightly, but I found folding it in half, sticking it in there, then letting it unfold inside the case worked well. The foam itself seems of decent quality, kind of like memory foam, but it doesn’t hold the shape of your hand or anything. Once you get the foam inside, getting the plastic tube thing that holds up the front inside the little pocket that holds it isn’t too difficult. You do have to start at the correct end tho, so if one end doesn’t seem to be working, try the other side. Once assembled it looks just like the picture. My dog was mostly thrilled and liked diving inside at first, but I think maybe it gave him a static shock because I noticed when I stuck my arm in there it did that to me, and he hasn’t been inside it since I first put it together. He still enjoys sitting on top of it tho, even tho the one side sticks up and looks funny when he sits on it like that. Maybe if I wash it with a lot of Downy that will fix the problem.

It fits my 36kg GSP pretty snug, I just have to convince her to use it. Also , it is pretty thin so I need to use another blanket to keep her warm. Pretty dear for what it is. We shall see how long it lasts. Thank you.
