Whether you’re following a recipe from your favorite show or experimenting with new techniques, this sauté pan combines durability, versatility, and professional-grade performance to become one of your go-to kitchen tools.
Key Features
- Durable Tri-Ply Construction: Built with three layers of premium stainless steel—top and bottom layers for corrosion resistance and a core layer for efficient heat transfer—this pan ensures consistent, even heating without hot spots, critical for achieving perfect sear marks and controlled caramelization.
- Universal Cooktop & Oven Compatibility: Compatible with gas, electric, induction, and ceramic stovetops, the pan can also be safely used in ovens up to 450°F, allowing seamless transitions from stovetop to oven for recipes like braises or roasted dishes.
- Large 5-Quart Capacity: With a deep, spacious design, this pan accommodates large quantities of food, making it suitable for family meals, entertaining, or batch cooking without crowding.
- Includes Airtight Lid: The included lid helps retain moisture and heat during long-cooking processes like braising or simmering, while also reducing splatter when frying or sautéing.
- Ergonomic Heat-Resistant Handle: Designed for comfort and safety, the handle remains cool enough to grip during normal use and fits securely into oven mitts for oven transport, though care should be taken as it may become hot during extended oven exposure.
- Professional-Grade Performance: Praised by users for its robust construction and reliable functionality, it’s frequently cited as one of the best items purchased due to its balance of quality, usability, and longevity.

Benefits & Use Cases
This sauté pan excels in a wide range of cooking techniques thanks to its responsive temperature control and generous size. It’s particularly well-suited for browning proteins like chicken thighs or beef roasts, where achieving a rich fond at the bottom of the pan is key to building flavorful sauces. The pan’s depth makes it effective for braising whole chickens or roasting root vegetables with minimal oil. Its compatibility with all stovetop types means it integrates smoothly into any kitchen setup, while oven-safe capability allows for finishing dishes like casseroles or sheet-pan meals. Users appreciate its ability to maintain steady heat during delicate tasks like blanching pasta or melting chocolate, thanks to uniform thermal conductivity. The included lid enhances efficiency by trapping steam, which is especially useful when poaching fish or simmering soups.
Important Notes
While the pan is dishwasher safe, hand washing with warm soapy water is recommended to preserve its luster and extend lifespan. Always allow the cookware to cool completely before cleaning to prevent warping or damage. Avoid using metal utensils that could scratch the surface; instead, opt for wooden, silicone, or nylon tools to maintain the pan’s integrity. Never place the pan in the microwave or broiler, as these environments exceed its material limits. To remove stubborn residues, soak the pan with water over low heat or use a specialized stainless steel cleaner. Discoloration may occur if excessive heat is applied—use low to medium settings except when boiling. When transferring from stovetop to oven, always use oven mitts, as handles will get hot. Lift the pan rather than drag it to avoid scratching surfaces. This product does not come with a warranty, and care instructions must be followed to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Best Value Steel Pan
My husband and I have been considering buying a steel pan for a while now to replace our old Always Pan that we recently discovered was toxic. We tested several steel pans and were disappointed to see how expensive they were. We stumbled on the Babish Stainless steel pan online and bought it on a whim. It is honestly one of the best items we’ve ever bought for our kitchen. We use it constantly on the stove and in the oven. I love that I can make stews and fry steak so easily. The pan is dishwasher safe and if you prefer handwashing, food scraps easily come off while cleaning. I think the best part is that the pan is sturdy yet much lighter than the other more expensive brands. I’ve had relatives who have steel pans of similar size but they rarely use it because it is heavy to use and a pain to clean.Highly recommend this product.

I now have both the 5 Quart, and 12 Quart Pans. They are Awesome
First I bought the 5 Quart Sauté pan, and I was very happy with the quality of the cookware so I went ahead and also bought the 12 quart Stock Pot.The pans are are very high quality, built well, work great, and look amazing. They both conduct heat very well, and I have had no issues with heat retention or hot spots while cooking. I have had zero issues with any metallic taste even when cooking acidic foods. They are both little work horses in the kitchen. The 5 quart is about the perfect size for one pan dinners, and most dishes that you would cook for the family. I use this pan all of the time, it is the goto when I am making most things that need something more than just a Frying Pan. Though it also works well as a frying pan if that’s what you want to use it for. The high walls are good at keeping oil, or fats from popping out of the pan. It has the metal lid, which is also oven safe. So you can easily move from the stove top to the oven in one go.The 12 Quart is huge, and great for any stock or soups that you are making. When I was using 6 quarts I had to add water to stock while it was cooking… but the 12 quart I can put everything in and have no fuss about not having enough water in it, or even a problem with it boiling over. Even when cooking down 4 whole sets of chicken bones, with aromatics, and everything for my stock the pot was only at about half full. I also use this pot to boil water and sanitize mason jars in before canning, I can easily get 5-6 jars in at a time. This pot comes with a glass lid so you can see how things are doing and is of high quality. The pans are easy to clean if you are already used to stainless steel cookware. These are NOT non stick so if you don’t treat them like they are you will have no problems. Just make sure to use enough cooking fat and nothing will stick and easy clean up. If something does stick, I just let water sit in the pan for a couple hours and everything glides off, or you can boil water in it for a little bit to soften up anything if you don’t have the time. Pans might discolor with high heat, this is normal with stainless steel and can be fixed with Bar Keepers friend and a scrubbing pad. You can use dishwasher if you want, but I have found washing pans by hand extends the useable life of all pans.In all I am ecstatic about my Babbish cookware, it has treated me well… and if I treat it well it should last a lifetime.

Cooks & cleans well. Good weight
I purchased this particular brand and pan because the review said it was lightweight comparatively. I hadshoulder surgery and lugging a heavy stove to oven pan up and down in and out and then washing. It wasn’t something I could do. It’s a very nice pan for the price and cleans well. I’ve only cooked a few dishes in it and they have all been stove to oven and been fine.

Babish 11 inch Saute Pan with Lid
I purchased this 11 inch Saute Pan and 12.5 inch Fry pan. SAUTE PANS HAVE HIGHER SIDES THAT GO STRAIGHT UP NOT flaired. His Fry pan is big 12.5 and has high sides a bit higher than most Fry pans which I appreciate actually his 12.5 inch Fry pan is more like a classic saute pan and his 11 inch Saute pan is well I don’t know. The sides are also a bit higher than most classic saute pans which again I Appreciate but not nearly as elegant as say Sardel 5 ply Saute pan from Italia or Demeyere Belgium. Babish pans have really functional handles that don’t slip. I’m a professional chef. While these are not part of my high end pans they are very useful because of higher sides on both pans. The 11 inch saute pans sides are a bit high for say saute chicken Marsala or chicken franchise. His 12.5 inch pan would be better. The 11 inch is great for large 1 pot meals that require more liquid. Again, his designs are useful. Also the 11 inch is good for 2 or more large orders of say Fettuccine Alfredo or 2 large orders of Rigatoni Pasta Dishes where a classic Saute or 12 inch fry pan wouldn’t hold enough volume. If you don’t mind supporting Chinese made products and not requiring 5 or 7 ply/layers and are ok with 3 ply these are a solid choice for right price. THEY WILL LAST A LIFETIME. ARE THEY AN HEIRLOOM QUALITY. NO but if you have a catering or restaurant and are hard on cookware these are for you if you. They are what I call functional beater pans that work well. 4 solid stars. If you want to get 5 ply look into Sardel italia, Made In Italia, Demeyere Belgium, Heritage Eater, Tennessee USA or vintage Bronx NY made Farberware or Vintage Allclad although handles on all clad are too darn skinny for any pan 11 inches or more. Happy cooking. Babish made my top 10 list and the top 3 three ply brand. Enjoy

Great starter cookware
For the price, you get a well made and really decent cooking pan/pseudo pot. It works well on my electric stove top. The only thing I dislike is the branding on the cookware lol
Fox –
Functional but brand annoying
As a pan / shallow pot, this has become my go-to for almost everything in the kitchen. Itâs well built & very low maintenance. But the branding⦠so much âDid I mention itâs a hipster brandâ logo garbage on everything. Which is nothing a dreamer with a sanding bit canât fix.
Gosh Goods –
Great quality pan for the price.
If you are a one pan cook, like me, buy this pan. However, you have to know how to clean it and season it properly.ProsâSmooth finish, no sharp edges or rough surfaces.âExcellent heat retention.âNo warping after high heat.âCleans easy.ConsâA bit heavy, but I don’t mind it. Just mentioning it.Will buy another when I wear this one out.

Customer –
This is a very good looking pan. The quality and design are excellent, and I feel it’s worth more than the affordable price. The stainless steel lid is much appreciated which I prefer over glass lids. It is durable and has great functionality. This is a go-to pan for just about any cooking task. The font for the logo looks stylish and is in very good taste. This is a very good purchase.

Amazing, best pan ever
Amazon Kunde –
