The box was thin and I feared the foot stool would be junky. Wrong! Went together easy, great storage! It is also comfortable and sturdy to put your feet up. Great item for price!

Thin collapsable walls. Thin bottom. Heavy-duty cushioned lid.
There are a few different materials involved here. The exterior box sides and lid top are covered by a medium rough textured fabric. I hesitate to call it canvas or burlap as it is still sort of soft. It just also has a roughness feel to it. Whatever it is actually called, it is well made fabric, tightly woven. It has been tightly stretched and perfectly aligned and fitted to the box and lid. The stitching holding it in place is very well done, very neat and orderly with no noticeable frays. The threads look to be of a good, strong thread material as well.The lid of the box actually weighs much more than the rest of the empty box. I can’t see what’s under the fabric to know for sure exactly why that would be, but I suspect there is actual wood hiding somewhere under there. Either way, and in all other ways, this lid is generally made of the same materials as the rest of the box. It is likewise well crafted, the stitching looks great, and it is very well fitted, quite snugly, for the box.The lid surface is padded like a typical footstool would be. This padding is noticeably present, but it’s not super soft either. It’s very tightly compacted and stuffed into the lid. So there’s not much room for softness or spongee cushioning effects, but it’s still way better, in my opinion, than plain bare wood, etc.The box bottom is very thin and appears to only be made of a windbreaker type of material. It is also well stitched and shows no signs of any flaws so far. There is a completely seperate, unattached, additional bottom board. Apparrently made of similiar materials as the box walls, though it does have a more canvas-like texture feel to it’s surface. It’s difficult for me to tell specifically by vision alone, as the fabric in question is a blackest black color.Regardless, this additional bottom does fit perfectly snugly into the box. Pushing it all the way down to the real bottom when the box is fully extended will secure the box in that extended position. No need to worry about getting it back out, if ever need be, since one end of the additional bottom board also has a short fabric tab or finger loop. With this, just grab it and pull, and the bottom board comes right out. When the bottom board is removed, the box can be folded up for storage, in the event it’s no longer needed.But do keep in mind that what makes the box easily collapsable is also what makes me recommend that users avoid piling too much heavy items ontop of it. Especially if the box becomes overburdened by too much piled on weight while there is nothing else filling the box for added support. I’m not saying that it would randomly collapse itself, but the box walls and the additional bottom are quite thin. Therefore, it’s best in my opinion to just not risk it when the box is not full. The box lid by itself is already heavy enough.Otherwise, very well made, great quality, no flaws or other issues so far. I’m slightly questioning of the thin collapsable walls, but if used normally and within reason, it should not become an issue. That is why I give 4 out of 5 stars.
