CHEF’S KNIFE
Is a multi-purpose knife designed to perform well at many differing kitchen tasks, rather than excelling at any one in particular. It can be used for mincing, slicing, and chopping vegetables, slicing meat, and disjointing large cuts.
SANTOKU KNIFE
Is naturally built for creating thin slices of meat, seafood, cheese, fruit, and vegetables. A row of shallow dimples on the side of the blade. These depressions, called Kullenschliff or a Granton edge, reduce friction and help prevent food from sticking to the blade.
BREAD KNIFE
The serrated blades of bread knives are able to cut soft bread without crushing it. Its shaped similar to the Santoku knife with 2 differences, it is serrated teeth and is much longer. The idea behind the length of the blade is it allows the cook to cut large surfaces in long,smooth strokes.

So, to start, I got this and didn’t read the description well enough and was surprised to find that the blade angle is 25 degrees…was not expecting that as the largest i typically see for kitchen knives is 22, with 20 being more typical and 15-18 being what I typically get. So that makes me concerned for how hard the steel is and if these knives will need to be resharpened more than normal. That being said, the knives come of the box pretty sharp. I tried all of the knives on paper and all of them sliced through it pretty easily. The sharpener, meh, I think you have to turn the block around to get at it effectively and I’m not convinced it will really do much, but it’s there. I really liked the handles on these blades though, they are soft and grippy. And they all have a nice light balance and weight. Not a lot of heft to these. The santoku is probably my favorite but I think the blade width is a little smaller than normal (so less room to crush a garlic clove), the chef’s knife is pretty good too. The slicing knife is sharp, but I wasn’t really getting thin slices when carving up a turkey. The paring knife struggled when I was peeling brussel sprouts. Didn’t like how that went. I don’t typically like serrated steak knives, but that’s what they are. They do double nicely for slicing cherry tomatoes in half though. All in all, I think this is a nice starter knife set, but probably not a lifetime set…I would probably get a better paring knife right off the bat though.

Good starter knife set
I got the black knife block which is solid wood with a nice smooth paint finish. It had all the necessary slots for the knives that came with the set. Very easy to clean and look sharp.The set of knives comes with everything that youâll probably need to cut with. I mostly use the chefs knife. The knives are nicely made one solid piece of metal. All of these knives are extremely sharp. Not sure how long it will be before I have to re-sharpen. The finish is very nice cosmetic wise with the all stainless look. The handles are big and round but sometimes it feels like it rotates in your hand while you cut something hard like a sweet potato. The blade portion seems to be a little thinner than my other knives from Germany. The knives are well balanced as the center of gravity is right where the blade meets the handle. The only issue I had was the paring knife as the handle is somewhat larger in girth and length than my previous pairing knives it was a bit awkward to handle the knife. Other than that all the other knives function well and easy to clean.

Excellent Value
Excellent quality knives, I can tell I have something really special on my hands.This is a good in between set compared to others. There are some knives that are super fancy and expensive but you only get like 3 knives and they’re probably too fine a quality to have hanging around if you have a family or younger members who are in the kitchen. This set gives you a large enough number of knives that each one is tailored to a specific task without being overly fussy. I especially love the number of steak/butter knives that I was given because I think that’s what my kids basically are grabbing the most.The quality of the knives is good. Their handles are a bright shiny silver and there’s a good quality weight to them, the handle is very ergonomic and I loved how its been shaped so precisely. Using them was a breeze and they felt so comfortable in my hand. Super sharp and cuts through things easily. I used both the chef knife and bread knife to cut myself a tomato sandwich and the knives glided through them like butter.I like that you get a pair of scissors alongside the knives which are also good quality. I chose the black box and it ties together nicely with them as well as brings a classy appearance to the knife set. Was easy to clean. They’re marked as dishwasher safe and due to the blade and handle being stainless steel I felt comfortable popping these into the dishwasher.Cleaned easily and came out beautiful. Highly recommend this set.
