This Magnetic Drive Guide features two different guide sizes and a universal quick release. The quick release is also compatible with any drill accessory designed for quick release use. I own several drill bits with quick release shafts, which can also fit into the magnetic Drive Guide without using the quick release, potentially aiding in safe bit guidance.I utilized the longer guide to reach into an area where my hand couldn’t fit, and where I had previously lost a star head 1/4-inch driver tip with a 3 1/2-inch-long wood screw. The self-retracting guide sleeve enabled me to place and drive the screw without any wobbling or slipping, and more importantly, without using my fingers as guides. The small but strong built-in magnetic bit holder securely held my driver tip. I believe this item is definitely worth the $9.99 price tag.

The actual connector for your bit does not extend. Only the sleeve portion which is worthless. It will do what I needed to do but the advertisement is misleading.
