These place mats seem well made and sturdy. They are also generously sized. However, they have an odor that was very unpleasant. Some reviews say the smell dissipates after a period of time and another review states the smell never goes away. I wasn’t willing to find out so I’m returning them.

Next time I will order one size larger. I ordered 13″ and they are slightly bigger than the dinner plates. I think for the layered look, a 14″ would be great, too. It depends on the size of your table. Layer these with white napkins and white dinnerware for a high end look, or dress the table down more casually with printed dinnerware and napkins. They are fun to try different things with.. I would buy these again in a heartbeat!
