Stylish, Functional, and Surprisingly Handy Storage Ottomans
I picked up this set of two Royal Winsdor Round Ottomans without expecting much beyond some extra storage, but they’ve quickly become some of the most versatile pieces in my living room. Not only do they look great—especially in their soft grey velvet that matches my couch perfectly—but they’re also incredibly practical in ways I hadn’t anticipated.Let’s start with the design. The set includes two ottomans of different sizes, and they stack neatly if you’re short on space. While they don’t take up much room individually, the storage inside is deceptively spacious. I use the larger one for throw blankets and pillows, and the smaller one holds random odds and ends like remotes and chargers. It’s nice not having those things cluttering up my space anymore.The reversible tops are a fantastic touch. On one side, you have a cushioned surface, which makes for a comfy footrest or seat. Flip it over, and it’s a sturdy hard surface that’s perfect as a side table. I’ve even been using the smaller ottoman as a makeshift mouse pad and the larger one as a laptop stand while sitting on the floor. It’s a simple idea but so convenient.What stands out the most, though, is the quality. The velvet feels soft and luxurious, and the foam on top doesn’t lose its shape even after sitting on it for a while. The construction feels solid, and they’re light enough to move around easily but heavy enough to stay put when in use.There’s very little to criticize here, but if I had to nitpick, I’d say the smaller ottoman isn’t ideal for heavier items like coffee table books—it’s stable but might feel a bit top-heavy if overloaded. Also, while I love the grey color, it might not fit every decor style, but that’s more about personal taste.Compared to similar ottomans on the market, these feel like they punch above their weight in terms of both quality and functionality. Most storage ottomans I’ve seen either look too utilitarian or don’t offer the versatility these do with their reversible tops.If you need extra storage, a stylish accent, or just something you can use for multiple purposes, this set is a winner. I took a picture of the larger one next to the electrical outlet and turned the lid upside down so hopefully a reader can get a sense of the height for these. The smaller one fits just inside the larger one so it’s slightly shorter and slightly smaller in diameter.I have the larger one next to the bed as a small nightstand for now. I tend to get unexpected guests so I thought I would use the smaller one to put essentials in for guests while also keeping the room free of clutter when it’s not being used. I put 10 paperback books in the smaller one and there was still plenty of room to put more in there.These are made of very sturdy wood. Honestly, they are much better quality than I was expecting which is always a pleasant surprise. They are covered in brushed velvet which means the fabric has a nap to it. If having perfect lines are important to you then you’ll appreciate the ability to brush this all in one direction (I did not do that before taking photos).The lids fit perfectly on the top. They aren’t connected to the ottoman itself so they are easy to take on and off. I personally wouldn’t kick up my shoes with the fabric side up since that might be a challenge to clean, but the wood on the other side is more than sturdy enough to handle having feet propped up on it.These have
