Love These Knives
I was concerned seeing they were “Made in China” so I wrote them. return message was “Please note that our Henckels Forged Accent 20 Piece Self Sharpening Knife Block Set with Black Handles is made in Germany at our original factory in Solingen, however, the assembling is done in China for mass production.” also Cutlery and More is a verified third party seller so rest up there. The knives are sharp, the whole set is gorgeous and so easy to use. If you aren’t used to a sharp knife be seriously careful working with them at first. I’m used to sharp knife and cut myself (nothing serious) a few times by not using them right. If you are looking for a GREAT knife set without paying over a thousand bucks…stop here, purchase this! I hope this helps someone.

Great value roll of the dice.
Let me start off by saying that I appreciate good quality knives (my everyday pocket knife is a carbon fiber Benchmade Osborne, which now costs the same as I paid for this entire set), but I am no way a knife snob. Ideally, I would have preferred to get a nice set of forged German knives, but unfortunately my wife was not willing to spend 2.5k on one. I was torn between getting a set of German made stamped knives or a set of Chinese made forged knives with hopefully German steel, engineering, and oversight. Ultimately I took a chance on this Henckels 20 piece set. It checks almost all the boxes on what knives I need in a set while having minimal or no extraneous/novel knives. However, I would have loved to see a birds beak pairing knife included in this set.On first inspection, the fit and finish is good, not great. Most of the edge grinds were close to equal and are useable. The utility, boning, both paring knives, and all of the serrated knives were not paper cutting sharp out of the box. The tip of the 6″ utility knife was bent almost a full 1/8th inch out of the box which resulted in an unequal edge grind (see photos). This was clearly bent at the factory prior to final edge grinding of the knife. A casual user, including my wife, would probably not notice this defect. I may try to get a warranty replacement, if possible, but probably won’t take a chance at bending it back at the risk of snapping the tip off. When comparing against a German made Wusthof Classic, the machining and finish of this set is a step or two below, something that is to be expected with Chinese manufacturing. Hopefully extended use will not reveal any durability issues, especially with the handles, with this product. The block for this set is almost a full 16″ long, 5″ longer than what it needs to be to accommodate the longest knives. On a standard 24″ kitchen countertop, it makes the portion it sits on unusable for anything else. I will likely end up cutting 5″ off the back so it doesn’t visually look so out of place. I would have also liked to see a version without the ceramic “self sharpening” inserts in the block, as I feel they are a gimmick and potentially would do more harm than good to the knife edge.Ultimately, at the $300 price point I paid, I think this set represents great value and maybe at the $400 mark as well. Really it is just a roll of the dice on your particular set you get from the factory due to poor quality control. One star reduction for the bent knife tip. Otherwise, the quality is what is to be expected for an inexpensive Chinese made knife set that punches above its price point. Overall, I would recommend getting this set.

Henkels knife set
I always knew that Henkles made really good knives but I had no idea they were as sharp and so well balanced as they are. These knives are sharp as a razor.

Phenomenal!
I did a lot of research for a great set of knives. I watched a ton of videos. My wife is a wizard in the kitchen and on the grill, and we’ve been dealing with the same junk knives for a long time. I ended up choosing these, and they are the best knives we have ever used. The self sharpening holders are not only very handy for keeping the knives continuously sharp, but it’s a lot of fun putting them in and taking them out. Just make sure to wash them by hand and use a shammy cloth. Definitely worth the price.
