Good quality & pretty
I really like the look of the bed & trundle. It’s very sturdy and not to difficult to assemble. Two people are helpful when putting together the main bed but my husband did the trundle on his own. I do wish the trundle could be pushed back under the bed a little further so it isn’t a “toe catcher” when I’m making up the bed etc. I know it’s designed to line up with the bed, but it would be nice to have the option to push it back some.

Loooooove this bed!!
This is perfect! We got our office back! And we have the perfect bed for when our daughter comes for the weekend by herself, AND itâs king-sized for when her soldier husband gets to come with her! Solidly built, easy to put together, and easy to make the transition from twin to king and back again. Looks great, too!

Looks great, easy to assemble, mattress gap
Two things first: these are for regular twin mattresses, the bottom fits a max 8″ thick mattress. The biggest disappointment that no other reviews (from other sites) mentioned was that there is still a 2-3″ gap between mattresses when turned into a king. You’ll need to buy a topper or a gap filler which IMHO is an annoying extra expense.Besides those two points, everything else is great. It feels sturdy, the pop up design is just what we needed for frequent in-law visits and I anticipate using it as two separate twins when the kids’ friends visit in the future.Pricy up front, but I’m thinking it’s a solid long term investment and is a welcome solution to the two level trundle bed options that are so common.

Nicer quality than expected
Aside from a few scuffs (probably from shipping) this piece is higher quality than I had expected from Amazon. The main bed took a bit of time to put together since I did it solo and really need a second person to hold the other end of the bed while putting together, but the trundle was super easy to put together (about a half hour.) Can fit up to an 8â twin mattress underneath. My only complaint are the stickers to number the pieces. Iâll have to get some goo gone in order to get those off, as they arenât coming off easy and leaving behind the residue/some of the sticker.

Inferior glued up wood makes for a bed that’s only good to look at
I knew going into this that it would need repairs, but didn’t think it would be in the first 90 days. However, the first time anyone actually slept on it, it broke in four places. Anticipating a somewhat less catastrophic version of this, I had planned to use the bed as a template for new parts as they broke. Bought maple and oak to replace a leg, a slat and a crossmember. However, if you don’t have a full wood shop, those repairs might be a bit much. I imagine — but did not test — that the manufacturer would have replaced the bed or sent parts (maybe?) but the problem is deeper than that, going to the wood itself so replacement parts (that I didn’t make myself) won’t fix the issue. The bed looks great and I can see why people like it, but I question if the better reviews are actually using it regularly. All in all, don’t buy this fairly expensive bed that won’t last without a major overhaul.

Unusable after 1 year
This bed is pretty but it is flimsy construction and materials. This bed is completely unstable after one use, by an elderly petite family member who weighs 104 lbs. This bed has barely been used over the past year in my guest room. I can count three visits by my elderly aunt. I went to scoot the bed back against the wall after making the bed. The trundle part was across the room. As I was doing so it seemed really loose and just cracked where two screws secure the front side to the head of the bed. See photos. I spent 600 dollars on this flimsy set up and I had to make it with a payment plan after my home flooded. It was a hardship to buy and now I need to pay to have it removed from my home. More money down the drain. I called Amazon and all the company was willing to do was replace it. So I can have another one break and have to pay to replace it????? No thanks. AWFUL. I want my money back. I am going to look on resale sites and find an old one that was built properly and with real wood or metal. DO NOT throw your money in the toilet on any of the Kodiak furniture. They will not help you a year from now when it falls apart!

Nice trundle bed for a guest bedroom
This trundle bed fit our needs for a guest bedroom. Being able to transform it to a King size was a big selling feature. The bed was delivered in two boxes which were each 6-7 feet long. Each weighed a good bit but not more than a 64 year old could wrestle with. Even though the boxes were fairly ‘beat up’ in shipping, I was pleased to see that there was no damage to any of the wood pieces within. There was LOTS of packing material. Each piece is clearly marked i.e. numbered and the included directions were fairly straight forward. The hardware includes an allen wrench for assembly. Having a medium sized flat blade screw driver helped to align the nuts in the assembly process. I guess solo assembly would have been possible but with my wife, it went quicker and greatly reduced the chance of damage done when assembling. We used a cordless drill which helped a lot as there are a number of wood screws and bolts required. As with most items of this nature, it helped to get each bolt/screw started in each sub-assembly prior to tightening down all the way. My wife and I are very pleased with the final out-come of the bed. The 8.5″ clearance between the slats of the lower mattress frame and the bottom of the upper bed frame was just right for an 8″ mattress.Once we have had guests and actually use this trundle bed, I will update this review. At this point though, very pleased with this purchase.

Meh
The quality is good. The ease of setting it up was good. The color isnât what I expected. Iâm not sure what I expected, but itâs darker and more grey/neutral than a warmer wood tone that I was expecting. I bought the walnut finish. Itâs not the same as my other walnut colored furniture, but I just cover it all up with pillows. Overall, not a bad purchase. Maybe Iâll strip it and re-stain it. ?
