Great Indoors But Lasted 8 Months Outdoors
This review is for LifeGrip Anti Slip Traction Treads with Glow in Dark Stripe (10-Pack), 6″ X 28″, Best Grip Tape Grit Non Slip, Outdoor Non Skid Tape, High Traction Friction Abrasive Adhesive for Stairs Step. We bought these at the end of May 2022 and installed them in June 2022 when the temperature was around 80Â°F (27Â°C). We should have checked the box closer because ours did NOT come with the rollers so we had to improvise. The installation instructions, however, were very clear on the box and so they were relatively easy to install on our backyard wooden door steps and inside the garage. We did exactly what they instructed: Clean steps thoroughly and let dry before applying, etc. The box advised us not to install over gaps in the steps but we had no choice because we bought a size larger than recommended (we should have boughten 4″ vs. 6″), so it was our mistake so no stars were taken off there. The adhesives on these are fantastic and they stick very well especially in high heat. All was good and we loved these treads all summerâ¦and fallâ¦until winter arrived. By February 2023, some of these treads that were outdoors had started to peel off and even blew away in the storm. Some are barely hanging on and just flapping around in the storm. However, the ones in the garage are still in excellent shape. So, while great indoors, outdoors these only lasted about 8 months for us. We will salvage what we have left and buy 3M Hi-Strength 90 adhesive spray to rectify the situation and see how that works out. They do get quite hot in the summer heat but the traction we get is worth it. They help our senior dog to not slip also which is wonderful! Overall, while these are great for indoors and work exactly as described, outdoors is a whole different story. They just didnât last in our Chicagoland weather with clear four seasons. Therefore, Iâd give them a 3.7/5.0 – 05/01/2023.

I couldn’t be happier.
These are excellent traction treads. I’ve had them for about a month now and not only do they give great traction but they are clearly very durable. I installed these on wooden basement steps so I can’t vouch for how they would work on exterior steps but I suspect they would work fine outside. I installed these after slipping and falling down all the steps (ouch!). Now the steps are much safer and I have complete confidence now even if some water gets on the steps. They were very easy to install and they adhere beautifully. But something really nice about them is that you can pull them up and re-position them for a while anyway. I had to do that with a couple of them when I didn’t quite line them up perfectly on first try. Once they were in place, I ran a rubber roller over them that I happen to have in my shop. I recommend using some sort of roller to get the best results but it’s not absolutely necessary. Also, be sure your steps are clean before installing the treads. Washing them down with TSP might be a good idea to make sure they are perfectly clean. I used the occasion to re-paing my steps before installing them. That wasn’t necesssary but they were due for re-painting anyway. As a side note, I had to laugh at a review or two that warns you about these traction treads if you have a dog. I don’t know what type of dog would be harmed or even dislike these treads. Think about it: Dogs run effortlessly over stones, concrete, sticks and just about anything imagineable without any problem at all so how these treads would bother any dog is a mystery to me. In fact, they probably like the treads. Dogs don’t like slippery surfaces. I have two cats and their litter box is in my basement and they didn’t even seem to notice the treads. Good stuff! Buy with confidence.
