I bought two bookcases 2 years ago. They are study and attractive. They are made from real wood and are very strong. Highly recommend.

Real wood, like the description says….
To be honest, it seemed really risky to order furniture, especially big furniture, on line. I do not want cheap, veneer covered particle board and there wasn’t really a way to see if this was going to be the case with these bookcases. But the size and price were what we wanted and so we decided to risk it. When they arrived, we had even decided to jump on the truck to see if the ‘real wood’ description was true before they unloaded them for us — if they were junk, then we could refuse delivery. But, I must say, these bookcases are very, very nice and well worth the price. We love them and feel they make a wonderful addition to our library. They are real wood, even the back panel is a real solid 1/4″ piece of plywood, not that cheap Ikea backing stuff. Several people have commented on them. They did come with a smell however; but it was the smell of honest stain and varnish, not the toxic chinese smell that seems to come with everything these days. The smell dissipated after 48 hours. They are made in Mexico. The seller and delivery companies were very professional and I certainly appreciated that. Kudo’s to Martin furniture.

Refused delivery
I bought one of these because I thought five or six would make a good replacement for my aging 6′ Saunder’s shelf units. So I purchased one to see how it looked about six months ago. unfortunately, it never arrived. I sent an e-mail to Wayfair after two months and they said they would send another. That never arrived either. They didn’t have a tracking number but I they said it was with the shipper. I’ve received no contact from the shipper or the company since. My mailing address is correct and everything from books to a new couch seems to make it to house without issue. I have no idea why the shipper won’t deliver.Now Wayfair has my money and the shipper has my bookcase. I guess that’s a win for both of them. I guess it’s a good thing I didn’t buy five or six right away.Anyway, I don’t really have a review for the product because I haven’t seen it other than the shipping company probably shouldn’t be trusted so watch out.

Not the quality I was expecting for the price
The item was late being delivered, and the paneling inside had large gaps between the series of holes for the shelves in several areas, so I had to drill out additional holes to space the shelves properly. The wood used for the veneer for the shelving was porous and not of the highest quality. In addition, the pins that go into the holes to hold the shelves were not properly machined, so they had sharp edges which required me to have to hammer the pins in. This piece of furniture is not worth what they are charging for it.

Ordered a total of 5 bookcases, and are enjoying them
My daughter needed sturdy bookcases for heavy medical books. We selected two of the tallest model of these bookcases. She was able to load the shelves with heavy books, without visible sagging – at least not in four months. I liked them so well, I ordered three more for my office. I have loaded some shelves heavily, and they are fine.I like the style. They look good for moderately priced units. The facing on the shelves give an upgraded look. The backs are not heavy material, but don’t need to be, since they are generally not seen.One feature we liked is the ability to order this bookcase in the tall height of 84 inches. Many others are available only to 72 inched. The shelves also are deeper, to accommodate more large books.They took a while to arrive, between order processing time and delivery time via a freight company, so be sure you can wait for about two weeks. Two units were packed into the same crate, so it was heavy to handle. We had no trouble unpacking them and getting them in place, but I would recommend that two people participate. There was an odor – like paint or construction material – for several days, pretty strong at first. If possible, give yourself a way to air out the space at first.I like these units, and would order more if I need them.

Heavy duty shelves that hold a ton of my hard cover books effortlessly. They do not wobble or buckle; very satisfactory.
