Looks fantastic and so sturdy
Beautiful but tough to put together. I’m not stranger to all things furniture / woodworking / DIY / Ikea hacks. This took every bit of 4 hours to put together by myself and a lot of sweat. This is also extremely heavy so I’d recommend putting it together as close to the final spot as possible. I did put slider stickers under mine and that was fine but if you have carpet you’re going to have a heck of a time getting it where it needs to go without heavy duty furniture slides and good luck with stairs.We got the “gold” color which you can see in the photos compared to our white oak floors. The whole thing came in 2 large long boxes (approx 65″ x 5″ x18″ or so) and packed very well.Some things to note:-I used my own rubber stoppers for the drawer you pull out that supports the bed base because it did need a little extra height than what comes in the packaging (impact of this shown in the photos with piece 19).-I also wish I would have moved the cabinet latches about an 8th of an inch forward because when I latch it fully it feels way too tight. Honestly wish I would have attached the main part of the latch last so I could measure it myself.-The base drawer is not attached at all – it just pushes in and out. I actually kinda like this because you can fit more in and you don’t have to worry about ruining any drawer slides with the weight of the frame sitting on top of it. They could have made the drawer box a little bigger – you do lose a few inches but I’m only storing pillows and bedsheets in there so it wasn’t a big deal for me (photo attached of the spacing difference)-Some of the pieces did come with a few flaws –mostly just the back panel though. I just moved them to a non-prominent position and it’s not been an issue – nothing structural. Some of the scuffs were honestly me not being careful and assembling on the floor without a barrier.-Use an impact driver with various types of phillips head bit sometime need an extender. Your muscles will thank me later (photo of all the tools needed)-The instructions can be a little confusing but there is an assembly video you can follow along. And there are a LOT of parts.The ONE thing that drives me mad is the top. They don’t really show any pictures of the top of the cabinet with everything closed. It’s weird and has a few big seams down the center. Nothing major, but I expected it to look a little better for the price. Again, everything is SUPER sturdy and this is really if I’m nitpicking it apart. I may end up putting a table runner or something over it while it’s in storage mode.All in all, we’ve slept on it with zero issues. Have had guests stay on it and it’s fabulous. Fits a 6″ tri-fold mattress and you can’t tell any inconsistencies or balance issues at all. Just a super sturdy piece. Also love the outlet on the side – that was a nice touch that my guests love as well. I’d purchase again.
