The screw heads seemed to fit in the bracket slots ok before I installed. After putting the screws in the wall and hanging the shelf it was easily dislodged from the wall. I tried leaving different lengths of screws out to see if more or less if the screws would make it more stable but nothing helped. I tried to use one anyway and it fell off the wall and a large piece chipped off the shelf making it unable to be used.

The shelves themselves are fine and exactly what we expected, but the screws are terrible. The heads break off really easily which is not ideal for installation or to hold anything on a wall that will hold weight. We ended up getting better screws at home depot and using those instead.
