The lift lid comes toward the front
This is a beautiful piece. One thing I would like to have understood is that the lift top lifts and pulls back in the direction of the beautiful front with sliding doors. If you want to use it as a desktop or a tray to eat on as advertised, the front doors will have to face towards your couch and the back faces out into the room. It seems to be backwards if it is to be used the way advertised.

Opens outwards, no way of changing
We love this coffee table. It has lots of storage and even though it isnt made of solid wood, it looks beautiful. The only bad part is that it doesnt lift up towards you if you have the doors front facing outwards. Other than that, it is a very nice piece!

Beautiful lift top coffee table
The item came quickly and is just as described! The doors and lift top operate smoothly. Just be very careful putting together as it only goes together one way. I accidentally put the sides on the wrong ends. The lift top screw holes did not line up.
