nice set of knives for my big girl kitchen
This is such a nice gift for someone or even yourself. I really like how it gives the basics of what a decent home chef needs and a sharpener in the same piece. I don’t know if I love seeing the names of each knife on the butt end, but it does help a lot as you’re getting used to which knife does what. They are already pretty sharp and I haven’t yet needed to sharpen the knives but I am sure it will do a good job. The wood block with the stainless cover on the specialty knives looks very nice on my counter. I only would say that you should learn the angle at which to insert the knives so you don’t surprise yourself / hurt yourself if you’re not being careful.

Switching from my old Cutco set to this Calphalon knife set was a surprisingly great move, as Cutco is a well known brand. I was a little hesitant at first, since Cutco is so highly regarded, but these Calphalon knives have truly exceeded my expectations. They come with a self-sharpening block, which is a great feature and a huge win over the long term. The blades definitely stay razor-sharp every time I use themâno more sending my knives off to be sharpened, as I had to with Cutco. The self-sharpening slots do the job smoothly as you take the knives in and out, making it super low-maintenance w/o the worry.This set includes a solid variety of knives for all my cooking needs, from slicing and dicing, prep knives to solid steak knives. It even has a set of shears, making it a well-rounded option for anyone who enjoys cooking. The full tang design is a standout feature; each knife feels durable, and I can tell theyâll last for many many years. With the Tang design, the metal part of the knife is fully built into the handle. Many that you can buy at retail, the metal part only goes an inch or two into the handle. The handles are comfortable, with a slightly tacky texture that gives a secure grip, so they never feel slippery.One detail I love is the labeled handles. I can quickly spot the knife I need without lifting every one outâjust a small touch that shows attention to detail and goes a long way for me with being efficient in the kitchen and not using the wrong knife accidently making it dirty. For anyone setting up a kitchen or looking for a high-quality gift, this Calphalon set is a perfect pick! Makes a great house warming present for anyone buying their first home, which is what I did. I ordered a 2nd set to give to a friend who bought their first home.
