Much better that others in this price range
I installed a less expensive set a few months ago on a spiral wood staircase. They were thinner and more or less just a pad with a bit of traction and an image of color. These treads are fully bound like real carpet would be. I therefore wouldn’t cut them to fit on spiral stairs.I vacuumed the wood stairs ( 1850’s era ) then wiped down with rubbing alcohol and a dry cloth. Used my laser level ( red line left side of pictures to get alignment ).Lessons learned:- Put down all treads in a test layout. Pattern has some very slight variances. I realized that third step up. Picked up the first one for use later and chose one that looked better with the second and third one where any variance is most notable.- Score the short sides of the backing when removing. The adhesive protective backing is on the carpet before the edging is sewn on. Its very thin, just a light score with a knife on short edges, ( pic 3).- Pull backing off slowly and keep hand near the leading edge. The backing is very thin and will rip or leave small pieces behind if you just try to grab one end and rip. Seeing that slight curl as it passes the stitches on the long edges meant it was coming off fully ( pic 2 )- Backing material is very clingy/static. Keep a trash bag handy and enough light to see if any bits aren’t removed or jump back on, especially around the edges so they stick and stay down.- Align/Secure one short edge then pull the other end slightly to get alignment and eliminate any wrinkles.- After install, step on each four times ( left edge, left center, right center , right edge ) to flatten and sealAll in – easy process once I was through the learning curve above. Happy with the adhesion on these old stairs so I saved the two sided tape they supplied should I need it down the road.

Adds a touch of safety to our bedroom stairs
We have a small set of stairs in our bedroom that separates our main room (lower level) and the dog’s “bedroom” / door that leads to the rest of the house (upper level). For whatever reason, since a few weeks ago, one of my dogs have developed a fear of those stairs after living in our house for 4 years lol. I think she was going down and she couldn’t grip onto the stairs and slipped and fell 🙁 I thought it was time to finally get stair treads for all our sakes since honestly, it’s not just her that slips on those steps, it’s me too OOoOof. The set comes in a pack of 15 pieces all measuring to about 30 inches wide and 8 inches deep. PERFECT size for our steps. The bottom side has a film that you remove before applying, and we found it enough to keep the treads in place without having to add extra adhesive assistance. We were able to apply and reapply without any problems since we did have to adjust them a couple times. They’re very sturdy and they don’t budge or slide. The carpet / rug material does add that much needed security when going up and down the stairs and the dogs find it much easier to climb or descend. The only thing to be careful of though (if it matters to you) is that the color is not true to the product photo, they look a bit duller and muted in person but it worked out better for us in the end anyway.
