I like the thickness of these placemats. And they looked really nice. However, they are rather small . I found that the straw was constantly coming off so it was kind of a messy placemat. I gave them away after having for a few months.

I bought these to make a plastic nightstand softer and quieter and give it a little bit more style. They fit perfectly – true to size! They smelled a little bit strong at first, but it seemed like the natural smell of the material and it was gone after a day. Love them for this use, cannot speak to them as actual placemats.
