We bought three of the Sauder bookcases. In less than months, the shelves have sagged. We are in the process of removing each shelf and reinforcing it to remove the current sag and prevent the shelves from sagging again. It seems that ease of assembly has been deemed more important that quality and durability. We are disappointed as we purchased knowing it was a Sauder product, a name we had previously aligned with quality products.

J’ai due demander de remplacer une piÃ¨ce le cotÃ© du meuble, le service Ã la clientÃ¨le a Ã©tÃ© des plus courtois et aimable sans compter un service rapide, sans compter qu’il ne m’ont pas chargÃ©e aucun frais.Le problÃ¨me est qu’Ã certain endroit le meuble est pas en ligne avec d’autres Ã©lÃ©ments soit Ã l’horizontale ou vertical c’est pas esthÃ©tique pour le prix payÃ©. Faire le montage Ã deux a pas Ã©tÃ© facile, des piÃ¨ces Ã©tait pas identifiÃ©, il a fallu deviner et finalement on ses trompÃ©, cela a mis 3h et demie pour le monter. La prochaine fois je payerais pour un meuble entier comme dans le temps !

Instructions work well if you follow them to the letter. However, this was our 2nd Sauder bookcase build and these instructions were less clear than those for the Oil Oak Finish bookcase. At one stage in the build, you are required to turn the bookcase over. This I did but it slipped from my hands and landed hard on the carpeted floor, breaking some metal posts out of their pre-drilled holes in the pressboard. I repaired these with some braces I purchased at a hardware store, and corrected the issue. Fortunately, the silver-colored braces are not all that visible. However, I think such braces (color-matched) would make for stronger construction generally in these builds. Other than that the bookcase looks good and is quite functional.

Great bookcase
Great bookcase. It’s very sturdy and holds a lot. I have textbooks, regular books and notebooks etc. There’s enough room that I can even put frames in front of the books for decoration. It looks really good in my home “office.” It took over 2 hours to assemble. You’ll need A LOT if space to assemble it. It is heavy. The side pieces are a little too thin. My husband dropped one side by accident during assembly and the nail went straight through and broke the wood. But it was still sturdy enough that it’s not a big issue. I just don’t overload that shelf. So be careful with it and it will hold a lot!

Excellent quality for the money
This came in perfect condition, took about an hour to assemble, and looks like a much more expensive bookshelf than what I paid for it! It is very sturdy and hold books on the shelves and a heavy plant on top. Would buy again.

This was pretty easy to put together. My son did it for me and it didnât take him that long. Itâs a very pretty and solid. I am going to order another one as soon as the sale I really like The look of it and the color choice. Very satisfied

Looks good but assembly a nightmare
My love for books created a need for a 10th full size bookcase. Unfortunately I canât build one as I did when I had both space and tools so I bought this one. I like how it looked and so when it was delivered on Saturday afternoon I felt confident that it would be up and âbookedâ within an hourâtwo at the most. Iâm pretty good with assembling flat pack furniture and was even more confident when I saw that Iâd only need a hammer and screwdriver to complete the assembly. The fact that the delivery guy rang the doorbell and then was headed back to his truck before I opened the door and demanded that he bring the box inside my home, per the instructions on the checkout page was a bad sign. As if I could lift a 90 pound box.Anyway the assembly started off well but the problem was the cam screws! The hardware is faulty and no matter what I tried I couldnât get a tight fit between the top and bottom halves of the unit. I had to buy L brackets to secure the two halves.The total assembly took four+ hours!Not happy at all with this purchase but at least the books are on the shelves.
