Doesn’t work perfectly with rag rugs. Also works on leather.
I bought several rag rugs. One of these I have on the floor with plush carpet using this product. It is a definite improvement. It still walks some, but I only have to adjust it every other day, and not by a large amount. A rag rug is probably not what it was intended for, hence the 5-star rating, as otherwise, I believe it will be the best I can find. I also plan to stitch the anti-slip product to the rug. I think that will make a difference also.On another note, the other purpose of these rugs was to cover my leather couch and recliner across the tops and down the front sides. I folded them around and tacked them together, but they were slipping off and I did not want to damage my leather. It occurred to me this anti-slip product may help. I tacked the other half I had left to one of my rag rug cover combinations. Again, not perfect, but OMG, stays in place for a couple days before it starts to move. Where she scratches and runs (while playing with the dog) is across the top and down the sides where typical animal protectors do not cover. I ordered a second one to finish the other two.

Works as Advertised but Correct Installation is a Must!
The Magic Stop has been down for over 2 months and has indeed kept the 8×10 Area rug on Berber Carpet from slipping. Prior to the Magic Stop install, I had to get the bumps/humps out of the area rug at least once a week. Post install, it has not moved an inch. One thing to make sure of is a correct install. And believe it or not this product did NOT come with any install instructions. If I had not found them in your customer reviews, I would certainly have installed it wrong. I’m including it here again because it is an important aspect of enjoying this product. —- { I found this at another website and have learned to always check Amazon before buying. The other website had instructions not found here. After reading reviews, I wonder if the instructions were followed, especially the part about removing the clear backing on the area rug side. I am pasting the instructions below.”This pad is used for rugs on top of carpet. Placed between the rug and the carpet, it prevents wrinkling and crawling. A thin, slightly tacky pad which ‘adheres’ the rug to the carpet without damage to either. The pad can be moved many times, even washed to rejuvenate the adhesive. Rounds and odd sizes can easily be trimmed to fit. For installing under large area rugs, follow these instructions: 1. Position the rug in the room exactly where you want it. 2. Mark the carpet beneath each corner of the rug with a piece of masking tape then roll the rug out of the way. 3. With the sticky side facing the carpet and the clear, protective backing facing up, line up two edge of the rug pad about 1/2 inch inside the marked area on the floor. If the pad is larger than the marked area, allow only two sides to extend beyond the markers. The excess will be trimmed later. 4. Carefully lay the rug pad down on the carpet and run your hands over the pad to smooth it in place. Push any excess material to one side of the area, making sure the pad remains within the markers on the floor. 5. Slowly peel the clear backing off the pad to reveal the adhesive facing up. 6. Line up 2 edges of the rug inside your marked area and unroll into position. Smooth the rug into place. 7. Trim or fold under any excess rug pad. Made in U.S.A..”} I hope this helps.

    Perfection!
This non-slip pad is perfection. It does exactly what it was designed to do. I can’t say enough good things about it. If you’re on the fence take the plunge. You won’t be disappointed.Though there were no instruction on how to use it or deploy it, with a bit of thinking you’ll figure it out. Don’t peel the backing off the pad until you get it in place.I have an oriental rug over carpet in my livingroom. The rug was always slowly moving across the carpet and bunching up on my couch. I have a chair on one corner that I thought would hold the rug in place, but that never worked. I would have to move the chair and drag the rug back into place every week. Now that this pad is in place the rug hasn’t move at all. It stayed exactly where I put it. I can vacuum the rug with no issues and haven’t had to adjust it once since using this pad. This is one of the best purchases I’ve made in a long time. Here is how I suggest you set it up:Vacuum the area onto which you’re going to put the pad, and vacuum the bottom of the rug you’re going to use it to hold in place. Both side of the pad are sticky, but only one side has a backing to peel off as the other side is folded onto itself for protection. I put the pad down onto rug I wanted it to hold in place with the protected side down. This allowed me to trim it with heavy duty scissors on two sides to make it just a bit smaller than the rug.Once that was done I rolled up the rug, put the pad down on the livingroom carpet with the unprotected side down while leaving the backing on the other side. This allowed me to smooth out the pad and help remove some of the creases created by it being folded to fit into the packaging.I then unrolled the rug back onto pad. This allowed me to make sure the pad was completely hidden by the rug. It also allowed me to walk over the rug to get the pad to stick to the carpet. I kept checking the pad to make sure it was smooth. If it wasn’t I unpeeled the backing, pulled the pad from the edge, and then allowed the backing to fall back on it so I could keep adjusting both the pad and run.Once everything was where I wanted it, I rolled the rug up to one end, then with it still rolled up, rolled it just far enough towards the center of the pad to start peeling the backing off the top of the pad. Once about a quarter of the backing was peeled away I rolled the rug back to the peeled edge. I knelt on the edge of the rug that was now being stuck to the top of the pad and kept peeling the backing off the top of the pad while unrolling the rug. I did this all the way across the pad. This worked great and the rug hasn’t moved since.

Didn’t work at all on a 9’x12′ rug
I can’t help but think I must have done something wrong because this didn’t work at all for my rug that is on my carpet. I did vacuum and make sure things were clean. But the rug would bunch up and the pad too. I’d straighten the rug and the pad would still have aluminum so I’d pull on it and then the rug would not be covering it up completely. Messed with it for a week before I gave up and threw it away! There has got to be a better solution!

My area rug was always shifting , wrinkling a bunching. This underpad keeps it flat and in place. No slipping or moving since I used it. Since I had a big rug it took some effort to get it in the right place & flat, but totally worth it! Love it works great!

I wanted to stop a small rug from sliding on the carpet. It looked from the description that this would be the solution. Not at all. Does not work on carpet. It does work fine on on-carpet surfaces, but definitely not on carpet.

This underpaid works quite well for my area rug I wanted to lay on top of the wall to wall carpet in the living room seems to hold both the area rug in place very well, we did have to get tape to hold down the edges as well. With this done, the carpet stays in place, no shifting, no curling of the edges. This underpaid was also a great price! I’m very happy with this purchase.

Tried everything to stop my runner moving on my fitted hall carpet to no avail. Finally paid over £40 for this pad 300cm x 60cm only to find it is no better than all the other products. It grips the pile on the carpet but not to the woven underside of the rug. Wasted my money.
