Drill holes, helps loosen dirt for digging and worked good to mix cement in a 5 gallon bucket.
Auger is tough and versatile. I used it to loosen dirt in bigger holes and then used it to mix cement for a deck footing.Big rocks and tree roots make it hard to hold the drill motor which makes sense because this is a 3″ drill bit.The edge is not sharpened to cut tree roots but it does go through smaller roots.I think it says “commonly returned”. People must have unrealistic expectations on what this should do. It can take a lot of power but IT IS A 3″ DRILL. I used it with a 1/2″ Ridgid cordless drill on low speed, it would get hot after a couple minutes.Good tool to have for random tasks as well as whatever they advertise it for… Planting flowers? 😉

Impressive design and light weight. Works best on higher speeds. Can drill holes fast for planting if soil is pre worked.

If you chuck this up tight in a 3/8 drill you have a great tool for planting. It worked great in north western Pennsylvania soil with rocks in it.

Deploying Jobe’s fertilizer spikes just got much easier!
This is an amazing product, I only wish I’d discovered it sooner. I use it with my trusty everyday cordless drill. Makes quick work of the soil in my yard so I can deposit the Jobe’s fertilizer spikes around the evergreen trees and shrubs. Strongly recommend!

Seems like it would work fine in softer earth, not useful for hard clay e.g. Houston Texas.

This item is well built. It has a thicker shaft than many others offered on Amazon.It seems that it should be very durable. So far over 100 bulbs planted. A great time saver.

In previous years it used to take me 1-2 days to dig holes & plant one side of our front garden (which is by no means big @ 20 ft x5 ft). It took me 1-2 hours with the Drill Augur !! Another advantage is that I could pre-drill holes for plants to check overall design; pop plants (still in pots) in holes, & fill redrill if needed to change the design. loooo-ooove it !!
