    Worth every penny
This awning saved our recent week of offroad camping. It works really well as designed but we used it on the ground sideways (like a curved wall) to block the cold wind as we huddled around an LP firepit. Once staked down, it can handle an impressive amount of wind. I only wish we’d had another one to block the wind from 2 sides! It goes together in about 2 minutes and back down just as quick. It packs away nicely in a small bag. I replaced the cheapo guyline ropes with 550 cord and I haven’t messed with the suction cups. I love the versatility. This trip wasn’t the first time we used it but with a little creativity it really shined on a couple of cold, windy nights. Every other member of our group vowed to get one of their own before our next adventure.

    Vehicle tent
This tent is impressive the size, ease to set up and cost. A great item for shade and protection from the elements. I haven’t used enough to give reviews for quality but it seems to be pretty strong. It’s large much larger than I thought it’s about the size of my car a little bigger but the fact it only needs two point to to stand up makes it much easier to use. You don’t have to use the poles.

A bit cheap, but did the job!
I got this to cover the side door of my camper van so I can leave it open when it rains. I had to turn it sideways, but it works a treat! The price point can’t be beat, especially compared to a permanent awning (>$1000 + installation). It wouldn’t hold up in a monsoon downpour, but it’s good enough for most rain. It’s waterproof, so no leaking. The material seems really flimsy, though, so handle with care. The suction cups and stakes are absolute crap, definitely buy your own. It only takes me about 15 minutes to set up, and that includes using a ladder to get to the roof and tying the corners off on nearby trees. Take down is equally fast and easy. I’d buy again!

    It’s a great awning!
I bought it to try out with my truck camper. It held up well in the heavy rain (though I had to manage it when water collected in it). The poles are sturdy, easy to set up and break down. It folded up easily to fit back into the carry bag. I like it well enough that I would buy it as a gift for camping family members. I will have to add extensions to the poles to make it high enough for my door to open and close if I want to situate the awning at the entrance to the camper. But placed off to the side it was easy to set up. It comes with suction cup attachments that can’t work on my rig, but on a smooth surface of an SUV it should work fine. Overall I think it’s a nice addition to my camp set up. I’m pleased with my purchase.

Yes, it fits over a horse trailer too!
Set it up over the backend of our old horse trailer, 14′ long x 6′ wide and 7′ high, that we gave a quick makeover into a simple “Freedom Motel” camping unit. Testing it out at our home, so far so good. And yes we can even close the back door while this awning is on. We used all 4 poles in these photos, but 3 poles also work, you just have to be more careful when shutting the door. The suction cups provided, suck!, get better ones. My husband is going to drill holes through the sides of the trailer and anchor eye hooks, and use guy lines with carabineers and do away with suction cups or earth magnets all together. I realize that people can’t do that to their vehicles, but it is a solution that will work for us, making set-up easier and more secure. Over all, we love it. Small and compact and relatively easily to put up. I added plastic pendant flags clipped to the guy lines so people will see them and not accidentally closesline themselves.

Not for anything but perfect weather
I REALLY wanted this to work out. We bought it to put over our galley door on our teardrop trailer to help keep sun off of you when cooking, doing dishes, etc. We have tried twice to set this thing up. Once, the weather was not so great so I chalked it up to that. The second time, there was a slight breeze, but otherwise a perfectly sunny day. The suction cups do not hold well at all and easily become detached. The slightest breeze takes this thing like a parachute and the legs do not stay in place. Perhaps if you setup 6+ guy-lines on each leg, then maybe this thing will stay put.

    Poorly designed piece of junk
I took this to a camping trip on the river this weekend and to say it’s a piece of junk is an understatement.Assembling it was a joke. The poles on the non-car side do not stick in the ground, so if you have ANY amount of breeze at all, it will blow up and away. There’s also no way to secure the canopy to the poles, which makes absolutely NO sense at all. Who designed this **** thing??This thing acts like a sail once tethered to your car, so in order to keep it standing we had to jerry-rig the entire thing by cutting holes in the cover and in the pole caps and using other supplies we had to secure it to the ground. Also, the rain flap doesn’t have any way to tie to the poles, so if you have it down instead up wrapped up (which, it doesn’t stay wrapped up anyway), it just blows around knocking anything you have under the canopy to the ground. The tethers on the car side are not secure either. Every time we came back from the river, we would find that the breeze pulled the tethers loose and we kept having to re-tie it to the car. We didn’t have weak knots either, in case that’s what you’re thinking.I wanted so badly to return it (even with all the modifications we made) but by the time the trip was over I was so angry with it I just threw it away.Worst thing I’ve ever purchased, hands down.

    perfect for car camping
Bought this so I could car camp in the rain with windows partly down and sun roof open for ventilation. Very easy to put up, love that you can adjust it to 3 levels of height. I did buy gorilla tape to put on the places where it looked like the poles might rub (better to anticipate a problem than to have to deal with one), and I bought “real” stakes to use since the flimsy ones it comes with don’t look like they will hold up. Slept 2 nights in wind and rain with nary a drop of rain in the car. It looks really snazzy too! Very pleased with this purchase!

I bought this for my son for Christmas. He is a 4×4 and camping enthusiast. He absolutely loved it. His mates were envious. It works really well attached to the back of his Toyota Prado SUV. Here are some pics from his first time use at a lake side in WA. It packs up really small, so it’s really a space saver in the cargo area. The only thing he thinks he will do is change out the cords to something a bit stronger. He said the nylon material was strong. Great buy. Get it!

reliable weather protection with an easy setup, perfect for camping or outdoor activities. Durable, lightweight, and great for providing quick shade or rain cover.” Great investment for a removable canopy for cars.

I bought this to go over the top of my old Landrover 110 when I am camping. It completely covers the tub and gives about 1 metre extra space at the back so you’ve got a dry spot right there if it rains.

I was sold by the versatility of this shelter – it’s more or less a standalone setup unlike a standard tarp and it sheds water well because of this. It fits well over the back of the truck with the tailgate open as an extra. I like that you can put it up with the standup poles or no poles or shorter sections of the poles. Although i could see you would need to protect the ends of the shelter if you planned on leaving the one end on the ground. I quickly put it up for the first time in the pouring rain having never put it up before and it was quick and easy – although took me a sec to see the inside third tent pole attachment that goes in the middle of the shelter. In the photo i had not put out the guy lines yet but it stayed up anyway since there was no wind. I didn’t bother with the suction cups and just hooked it over the roof rack and tied it to the truck wheels. The suction cups it comes with are rubbish and i took the pre-caution of ordering heavy duty strong ones as per the other recommendations – but didn’t in fact need them. The next time i put it up it was quite windy and it was a bit of a challenge to guy it out by myself to the long standup poles but in retrospect if i had suctioned it on to the windows it would have been much easier. Plus if i had filled the bags with sand and had those in place – but sand is not that easy to come by in most campsites. The pegs were pretty light weight – although they worked. I would suggest heavier ones as others have. By the way, as you can see in one of the photos, i paired this system with the roadie window tents also bought on amazon so that the windows in the truck could be open when sleeping in it without the rain or bugs coming on.
