It works
I used this to drill 6 4″ holes through a 18″ thick rock wall to help drain a parking lot. I have to admit I didn’t have much hope for the bit that came with the machine. But I will admit my fears were misplaced. The flexibility of not being stuck to a stand allowed me to position the drill on an angle. The bit lasted all 6 holes without having any of the “teeth” break off. And other than having to reset the saftey gfci switch numerous times, it kept tripping because of fractured peices of stone making the bit get stuck, this drill worked amazing well and at a really reasonable price point.

Solid drill
I have been in the trades for 20 years. Iâve used a core drill plenty. This one keeps up with the Milwaukee ones for sure. I have about 35 holes with it so I far and it has done fine. The stand is cheaper than a big name brand and it doesnât have an amp meter but really who needs one of them. You can hear of its bogging down.

Great value and works well, but make sure you are getting the bit you want
I purchased this because it was about the same price as a rental without all the hassle and then I would have the tool if I ever need to drill another hole. And it worked. Very well. But a few things you should watch out for if you are new to this work. First, a 4″ dryer vent needs a 4.25 inch hole. Not a 4″ hole. I suspect this is the perfect size for a metric country with metric ducts, but if you are looking to install a 4″ dryer, the hole will be really tight and it will be hard to insert the exhaust cover let alone get the duct through the hole. The seller was absolutely clear on the hole size, but the customer (me) did not appreciate its significance and it is really hard to make a hole larger! The second issue is that the spring on the trigger is pretty strong. My foundation was 12.5 inches of poured concrete. It took quite some time to drill the hole (with breaks) and by the end my hand was cramping. Clearly more time in the gym and less writing Amazon review would probably help. One solution might be to have a lock, but with the potential for the bit to bind, this could be quite dangerous. I think a softer spring would be best solution. This brings me to the next concern. There does not appear to be a clutch on the drill. Twice the bit bound in the hole and it is quite powerful. My hole was 6 inches above ground so this was not a risk, but if I was on a ladder, it could have been quite scary. So definitely don’t get the bit out of angle or you will quickly find the drill twisting out of your hand.Starting the hole can be tricky because the bit is water cooled and does not have a pilot drill to hold it in the center. To address this, I cut a 4″ hole in a piece of scrap wood and rested the drill in the hole until it started to cut into the wall. This avoided the drill from wandering as it spun and before it started to cut. This take a bit longer but is worth the time!Speaking of water cooled, as some of the comments mention, the drill comes with a fitting that probably works great in China, but for which no US garden hose can attach to. I don’t event know what it is. It looks a lot like the quick connects they have at HomeDepot, but it is a different size and does not stay connected. The fitting the male connector screws into is not tapered and is metric. So unless you have access to metric plumbing parts, you will need a 1/4 inch brass fitting and rely on it to cross thread (which it will with enough tape) and then a bushing and finally a garden hose connector to allow you to connect a US garden hose to the drill. The fitting is stainless steel so brass will deform nicely and work. Donât use steel! This is a simple trip to Lowes or HomeDepot, but will set you back another $30.Last point is that this drill is heavy. If you are young and fit this may not be an issue. But it takes time to drill through any strong foundation and you will have to hold this drill quite steady for a long period of time or it could bind. So take lots of breaks, see if someone can spot you for a time or two so you don’t make a mistake.I don’t regret the drill, but do wish the 4 inch bit was a quarter inch larger. Given the hassle with getting the duct through the hole and converting it to work with our garden hoses, I would probably rent one next time since I only needed the one hole. But if you can work with a 4 inch hole or are using the smaller bits for irrigation hoses or wires (and they work with that diameter) and you will want to work over several days (like most DIYers), this is definitely worth getting because renting over multiple days is quite expensive.Hope this helps.
OH I Bought More Crap!!! –
It had a problem
I though i wrote a review on this product already? Kind of strange they took it down? Maybe because i complained the drill gear shifter from 1 to 2 doesn’t work or doesn’t work all the time. you might have to turn it with a wrench! You will be sitting there fighting with it for a good long while. Sometimes it gets stuck in-between gears! Which means nothing is getting done until you get lucky and get it back into gear. I told them about the problem and they didnt want to send me another one. the drill itself is impressive but at the cost of your sanity.

Handle broke on the first day of use
I purchased this unit specifically to bore a single 4″ drain hole at ground level though a cinder block wall. It started off well, but occassionally the core bit would bite and stick solid and the whole drill would twist due to the torque. Halfway through the job, the drill twisted so violently that the handle broke when it rotated into the ground, and this also caused me to injure my fingers. I needed to finish the job with only the support arm to hold onto and an exposed switch and electrical wiring. OSHA would not have approved of my improvised method to finish my project…lol. It was difficult to use on the ground due to the water that was needed to be used for cooling the bit pooling near the unit with exposed wiring. I give this item 3 stars because I’m sure it would work fine in a vertical position the way it was intended to be used, and the overall quality seamed good. Had I not used it in a manner it was not designed for, I would have probably given it 5 stars. Fortunately, the purchase price of this tool was less than the rental fee at the hardware store, and I was eventually able to complete the desired task. For the price, it was a good value, even though I used it only once and then threw it away.

Great machine! Very stable!
The machine is very good. It’s very stable with the leg support the drill. I used it to drill the concrete hole ground to modify my toilet flange. I got the job done. Without the drilling machine, I was not able to produce a perfect ground hole for the toilet flange. I got the job done with a great drilling machine!

Great Tool for the Price, it Does the Job
I am in the process of adding a shower stall to a downstairs half bath and needed to “dig” a six foot drain pipe trench in the foundation. This probably is not the best tool to do that, but I gave it a try. I successfully drilled numerous 3″ holes to create the trench and used the 4″ bit to dig out space for the shower trap with no problem, this thing is rugged. I did let the drill cool down after drilling every three holes just to be on the safe side. I hit rebar several times, I thought that might eventually dull the bit but it didn’t seem to. I did hit a copper water pipe in the foundation, at least the drill was helpful in getting access to the damaged pipe. I definitely felt I got my money’s worth out of this drilling machine.

The core machine arrived quickly and well packaged. I used it to core 13 holes into precast concrete blocks. Cut like butter without hesitation. I did the holes consecutively and the motor barely got warm at all. Nice sturdy base⦠performed as well as any brand name machine Iâve rented. The only minor issue was that I needed to get 1/2â barb X female hose adapter for the water connection to the tubing, which was about $6. The one that comes with the the unit did not fit standard garden hose⦠I still give it 5 starts based on price and performance.

Good drill strong. Identical to my previous drill. Unfortunately it came with the clutch set to high and I wasn’t expecting the torque. So I got an ouchie. Lucky I know how to adjust the clutch.
