Emerson MW9255B Countertop Microwave Oven, 6 Pre-Programmed
$109.99
Product Overview
The Emerson MW9255B Countertop Microwave Oven delivers reliable performance with a smart blend of power, convenience, and compact design. Engineered for everyday kitchen tasks, this 0.9 cubic foot microwave combines 900 watts of cooking strength with intuitive controls that simplify everything from reheating leftovers to preparing full meals. Its sleek black exterior fits seamlessly into modern kitchens or smaller living spaces like dorm rooms, offices, or recreational vehicles. Whether you’re warming a mug of coffee or defrosting dinner ingredients, the Emerson MW9255B brings consistent results with minimal effort.
Effortless Cooking with Smart Presets
One of the standout features of this microwave is its six pre-programmed settings, designed to take the guesswork out of popular foods. With just one press—such as the dedicated button for popcorn or frozen vegetables—the microwave automatically selects the optimal time and power level for even, thorough cooking. These presets eliminate the need to manually adjust settings based on food type or quantity, making it ideal for busy mornings or quick snacks. This thoughtful touch saves time and ensures repeatable success, whether you’re heating up last night’s pasta or popping a bag of corn for movie night.
Powerful Performance Meets Precise Control
With 900 watts of cooking power, the Emerson MW9255B heats food faster and more efficiently than lower-wattage models. But power isn’t just about speed—it also means better texture and flavor retention. The inclusion of 10 adjustable power levels allows you to fine-tune your cooking experience: use low settings for gentle reheating of delicate dishes like soup or yogurt, or dial up to high for browning casseroles or fully cooking proteins. This flexibility makes the microwave suitable for a wide range of recipes beyond basic reheating, supporting everything from steamed vegetables to baked potatoes.
Smart Defrosting for Safe, Even Results
Thawing frozen foods can be tricky—either they come out lumpy and uneven or require constant attention. The Emerson MW9255B simplifies this process with dual defrost modes: speed defrost and weight-based defrost. Speed defrost uses time intervals tailored to common food sizes, while weight defrost calculates thaw duration based on the amount of food inside, promoting uniform results without overcooking edges. This feature reduces the risk of bacterial growth from partial thawing and helps maintain food quality.
User-Friendly Design for Everyday Use
The microwave’s interface centers around an easy-to-read LED display, which shows the current time, cooking countdown, and timer function all in one clear view. Alongside digital readouts, physical dials and buttons provide tactile feedback, reducing reliance on memorizing complex sequences. A built-in kitchen timer operates independently of cooking functions, allowing multitasking in the kitchen without confusion. The child safety lock prevents accidental activation—a valuable safeguard in homes with curious young children—while the compact footprint ensures it won’t dominate your countertop.
Ideal for Compact Living Spaces
Designed with space-conscious households in mind, the Emerson MW9255B’s 0.9 cubic feet interior comfortably accommodates standard dinner plates, small casserole dishes, and family-sized containers without feeling cramped. Despite its generous capacity, the unit maintains a slim profile that fits snugly into corners, under cabinets (with proper ventilation), or alongside other appliances. This makes it a practical choice for apartments, RVs, college dorms, or any environment where every inch counts.
Important Considerations
While most users appreciate the microwave’s build quality, appearance, and ease of use, some have noted variations in noise levels and heat distribution compared to higher-end models. Performance may also depend on how consistently the door seals and vents remain unobstructed. For best results, always ensure adequate airflow around the unit and avoid placing it in enclosed cabinetry without ventilation. Please note that only the microwave oven itself is included; no additional accessories such as racks, trays, or manuals are listed as part of the package in available product details.

Emmerson Products
I’ve had great luck with Emmerson Microwave ovens. Seem to last really long. Glad they still make them. Wasn’t able to find them in Walmart anymore so Amazon it is. Very easy to use.Was nothing wrong with the Emerson I had. Has stains in the back of the inside of the oven. Wife couldn’t clean it so off it went.

Good basic microwave
A good choice for our kitchenette. I would chose a larger and more powerful one for our main kitchen. The only complaint I have has been mentioned by others. The button that must be pressed to open the door requires enough force that the microwave would slide back on the counter when the door needs to be opened. In our case, it is up against a wall but I can see how this could be a problem for others.

8 years in use and still working perfectly
I chose this Emerson microwave in 2016, 8 years ago, because it was the most powerful one I could buy with the smallish dimensions. I needed one that was only 10 inches high to fit into the space in my smallish kitchen. It’s been a breeze to use. It has presets for 1 – 6 minutes, which I use most of the time, and also presets for 6 types of food, which I rarely use. It’s easy to clean, operates quietly and is attractive. If it broke tomorrow, I would buy the same model

Emerson is a good Brand
Our first Emerson Microwave lasted almost 15 years, we are expecting the same from this one.

Nightmare
UPDATE: 12/26/19 Still waiting on resolution. I contacted Amazon who said that because I had the Asurion protection plan I would have to contact them. Contacted Asurion who told me to cut the cord off the back of the microwave, peel the item sticker off the back, include a letter with a description of the problem and the case number, and mail to Emerson. Emerson would send me a new microwave.Emerson received the cord, etc. on Dec. 11. I have had no response from them. So I contacted Amazon again. They are trying to be helpful but are not listening, or else not understanding. I have repeated the whole story numerous times. Today I received a mailing label to mail the microwave back and they would refund my money. The microwave went to the trash after it had its cord cut off!! I cannot mail it back, as Iâve said many times! Iâm frustrated and will give Emerson one more chance today. Will keep you updated, if anyone is interested….Initial review, 3 stars:The oven worked perfectlyâit heated correctly, the turntable turned, etc. the problem was with the metal housing. When the oven was in use the housing would rattle loudly. You could make it stop if you pressed against the the side of the oven. But as soon as youâd let go the noise was back. Since I donât like standing in front of the microwave while itâs in use I elected to return it. Iâm currently waiting on a replacement. To sum up: the oven worked fine, the metal housing was faulty.

VERY HAPPY then – very sad now.
UPDATE Dec 25, 2018. Below is my original review. I was thrilled! However, the microwave died yesterday after my daughter went to cook a Trader Joe’s microwavable Chicken Pot PIe. I’m blaming the Chicken Pot PIe, but the microwave had been making sounds before, so, who knows. It lasted just over two years, so I guess I shouldn’t complain.Originally I wanted to get a Panasonic Inverter microwave, but they got such mixed reviews with a lot of negative ones that I decided to keep on looking. I am very happy I found this Emerson. It replaces an old Emerson microwave of the same wattage and size – 900W – 9cu ft.- that I owned for over 15 years. The new Emerson MW9255B is very quiet (my old Emerson microwave was really loud.) I like that the light comes on when you open the door, as well as when you cook. While I don’t cook a whole lot of meals via microwave I do cook vegetables and scrambled eggs and this microwave does just fine. All my microwave dishes and plates fit on the turntable, no problem. I shopped around a lot online and picked this one because I wanted black and I had a size issue with my built-in microwave cabinet – couldn’t be too wide or too deep, plus my experience with my old Emerson made me rather inclined to stick with this brand. On top of that the reviews were good. People did complain about the door being hard to open. It is rather tight, but I just place my right thumb on the open button and grab the side with rest of my fingers and it pops open no problem (however, I am thinking of putting museum wax under the front feet to see it it will hold the microwave in place). I definitely recommend this microwave.

Heats really quick
I’ve noticed that it heat microwave dinners really quick and burns popcorn…lol The door it very hard to open, but noticed you have to push it in the middle. Yes, it does move around when opening and closing. I’m always thinking how to adjust putting certain foods in so they don’t burn, esp. TV dinners. Still have to figure out the popcorn, lol

Les mesures sont mal décrites sur l’annonce. J’ai bien pris mes mesures et je le pensais plus gros.Je le trouve trop petit, mais il fonctionne bien.
