Barn door hardware works perfectly
I built this barn door for my living room and purchased the Smartstandard hardware kit. All of the items were included that I needed to hang and the instructions were 99% accurate. The hardware is sturdy and does the job holding up an 7’x4′ door. It slides smoothly and quietly. It stays on track except for when a grandchild pushes it a bit too hard, one of the two rollers will unhook occasionally but, the other roller stays put and it has never fallen. I may be able to adjust that so it doesn’t happen again. The door I built is quite heavy and the hardware holds it very well. The color is as described and is beautiful against the light-colored door. I have had no issues, other than that described above, and I’m very happy with the product and would encourage you to buy it. I had a question about the product and Amazon was quick to answer and I received the help I needed.

Good quality, everything you need!
This review is for my 6′ door hardware kit, even though the product above says 7′, it was a 6′ kit and was my first barn door install and this kit fit an cased 24″ opening perfectly! My locally sourced door, with this SmartStandard kit. One thing to note, is the rail is a “two-piece” rail that “interlocks” at one of the mounting bolts. My second kit was the 7′ kit and fit a 36″ uncased opening perfectly as shown in the pic!Pros – seems to be very well made kit, not flimsy; easy to install, even for my “first” barn door install, I give the instructions a B+; complete with handle (in pic); also includes two floor guide methods, one for the floor if you door is grooved on the bottom or a roller guide to fasten to your wall base. Both are shown in the pics for the kit. I had to shorten the bar a few inches for my installation, repaint the end w/black paint but that wasn’t an issue and was install specific to my room/door measurements.Cons or initial concerns is more like it – not “crazy” about the two piece bar. It took a bit of adjusting tho. When hanging A) make sure you have both pieces level and B) make sure that joint where they mesh together is as level and close together as possible so that you don’t feel the rollers as they transition from one bar piece to the other. That’s why I would have preferred a single bar. Less to mess with.Lastly, I’ve done home remodeling for over 20 years but a note to barn door rookies like me, make DARN sure the bar is perfectly level! The rollers glide so smoothly and effortlessly, that if you don’t get the bar/track perfectly level, the door might drift on you! I know that sounds obvious, but there’s pretty much no room for error. There’s a minor amount of adjustment between the diameter of the mounting screws/bolts and the bore of the standoff spacers, but make every effort to mount the bar level so you don’t have to redo! That’s not a nick on this kit at all, I’ve still given it 5 stars, just giving the mounting advice for what it’s worth!!

Solid construction. Good instructions. Beautiful kit. Had to buy a larger rail which had nothing to do with this kit, but the rail alone was $40 at Menards. This kit gives you everything for just a bit more.

All materials well made with the possible exception of the rail itself. I expected this part to be full length with solid metal similar to the other parts. I assume this part came in multiple lengths that had to be pieced together due to shipping concerns. Other than that a good product.

Well made, well packaged, great instructions
I replaced a closet door with a barn door and ordered this hardware kit for it. My 5ft track came in 2 pieces which joined together perfectly. It was an easy install with great instructions, and it ships with the mounting hardware for multiple scenarios (drywall vs concrete, thin/thick door). My door was made with 7/16 barnwood backed with 1/4″ plywood so the shorter bolts came in handy and fit just right. The wheels roll very easily – we decided not to use the included handle because it rolls so well. Very impressed!

Quality and Value
I liked everything about this hardware package with one exception. The track is three sections assembled together with a metal insert at each of the two connection points and screws to secure together. The track material is some type of metal alloy. It’s important not to over-tighten the six mounting bolts to the wall, as you will ‘pull the bolt into the track. I would strongly recommend a wood backer piece such as a 1×4, or 1×6 to avoid the track mounting piece from being pulled into sheetrock. BACK to the track, these three pieces were designed about as thin as they could possibly be and still provided the neccessary support. I would have preferred they be a bit more robust, heavier.
