Its clean lines and sturdy construction make it ideal for contemporary homes, apartments, and small spaces where every inch counts. The combination of practical storage and smooth hydraulic operation ensures that the Shintenchi Coffee Table isn’t just another piece of furniture—it’s a functional centerpiece designed for real life.
Key Features
- Lift Top Design: The hallmark of this coffee table is its adjustable lift top, which raises the surface to a comfortable working or dining height while you remain seated. This eliminates the need to hunch over or use a separate desk, making multitasking effortless whether you’re typing on a laptop, flipping through a book, or setting out snacks for guests.
- Upgraded Lift Mechanism: Enhanced with a reliable hydraulic lifter, the tabletop glides up and down with quiet precision. Foam bumpers integrated beneath the surface prevent slamming and reduce noise, while also minimizing the risk of fingers getting pinched during daily adjustments—adding both safety and longevity to the user experience.
- Sturdy & Durable Construction: Built from P2 grade particleboard that meets rigorous environmental certifications, the table is engineered for long-term durability and indoor air quality safety. Solid wooden legs offer strong structural support, and rounded edges add an extra layer of protection in households with children or pets.
- Multiple Storage Options: Beyond its lift mechanism, the Shintenchi Coffee Table includes a spacious tabletop perfect for daily essentials like remotes, notebooks, or decorative items. A hidden compartment beneath the main surface provides discreet storage for less frequently used belongings, helping maintain a clutter-free living room aesthetic.
- Easy Assembly & Cleaning: The table comes with clear installation instructions and all necessary hardware, allowing most users to assemble it quickly and confidently. The smooth, waterproof finish resists spills and stains, making cleanup simple—ideal for busy households or those who value low-maintenance furniture.

Important Notes
While many customers report satisfaction with the table’s performance and design, some have encountered challenges during assembly—particularly regarding alignment issues or unclear step-by-step guidance. It’s recommended to carefully review the provided instructions and verify that all parts are present before beginning setup. Although opinions vary on perceived sturdiness and overall size, the product is designed to balance durability with a compact form factor suitable for typical living areas.
Always ensure the table is placed on a stable, level floor surface, and avoid exceeding the intended weight limit on the lift mechanism. Proper care and adherence to assembly guidelines will help maintain optimal functionality and extend the product’s lifespan.

A little tricky to build but overall good
Once you get it built it holds up well, just getting it built is a little tricky bc the instructions are not super clear. Average coffee table size and can store a lot! Looks great in my space

What a surprise
What a surprise at the quality of this piece. Definitely not the typical “assemble yourself furniture”. In total it took me approximately 1.5 hours to assemble. I love how all of the pieces were clearly marked and all hardware was packaged perfectly and there was even an “extra pieces” baggie which came in handy because I did have a defective screw. I did choose to use a power screwdriver even though the instructions clearly advise against it, I was just very careful to not overtighten. The table is beautiful. Everyone that has seen it has remarked at the quality and they were surprised when I told them I purchased it from Amazon and assembled it myself. I look forward to using it to store my yarn work neat and tidy as I crochet throughout the winter months.

Shintenchi Coffee Table, Lift Top Coffee Table with Hidden Compartment
I ordered the version with the straight legs but got the angled legs instead. It’s too difficult to return this so I kept it. This was my first time ordering a lift top coffee table so I didn’t realize that even when lifted the table is not that high, adds maybe 3 inches. It just enough for my legs to go underneath but not enough for it to be at a comfortable desk height for eating or working. The instructions could have been clearer. The parts they wanted you to use were in a small font which the amount of the piece was in large font, so sometimes I was confused at which part I was looking for. It is nice that the bags are all labeled. My final issue was when installing the lift bar under the table top, the diagram showed that there should be 6 sets of holes for 6 screws on each side, but we could only find 4 indents and then when I aligned the lift bar, only 3 peeked through. When I oriented it so that 4 showed through, I realized I had screwed it in wrong because they were too far from the shelves inside the table. It took over an hour to build and you can’t do this alone. You need at least one other person (preferably 2) for the last step, which is holding up the table top so that you can secure the lift bar to the shelf on the inside of the table. This part is tedious and difficult because the table top is heavy, and with how large it is, it is hard to align with the holes and you would need a flashlight to see.

Holds up
My fiancé and I thought it was so small when we first got it, it was actually really funny we just looked at each other and laughed because we thought it would look ridiculous lol. It is small but It works well with our space and low couch. Its has held up to daily use for the past 5 months and cleans easy

Pain in the a** to build, but serves its purpose.
For the price point, it’s a decently sturdy, functional table. Oh, and it’s not an eyesore. It was a pain in the a** to put together, though. The schematics are sub-par, as well as the holes in the wood and tools it shipped with.

Small but sturdy
Like most reviews, it is a bit of a challenge to put together. The screwdriver that came with it was not very good, so I used my own. Have to use quite a bit of muscle to get several screws in. However, it looks exactly like advertised and it is quite sturdy. It’s smaller than I thought, but that’s my fault for not checking measurements. The storage seems bigger than you think considering the size of the table itself. The hydraulics are tight but I think after awhile they will loosen up. After delivery, there were no defects on the product itself. It was packaged well. I love it and do recommend it.

came destroyed
came destroyed in the box :(update: i got a replacement and I hope you have a drill. i got a replacement and stripped 3 tools trying to put this together. also i recommend wearing gloves, me and my fiance got blisters on our hands putting this together. it took us over 3 hours and we both did not enjoy the process. it did not have enough holes to attach the mechanism, so you have to make them, AND there is a screw behind a bar that is impossible to get to. it looks nice but seems poorly made. make sure you read the measurements. impossible to return if you already put it together.

Missing predrilled holes
The veneer on one leg is loose, chipped and peeling away. Veneer on multiple parts came already worn down. The directions are unclear, which resulted in me having to use the jaws of life to take it apart 3/4 of the way through to flip a piece over. There 25+ screws you need to put in that has no predrilled holes to line it up with, which added to the confusing instructions AND it was HARD to get the screws into the non drilled pieces; its wood veneer and glorified particle board, so I didnât use a power drill for fear it would split the pieces. Some of the screws were completely flat, no indentation for a screwdriver. Once itâs all together it seems pretty sturdy, but I wouldnât buy it again or recommend it.
