Good replacement for my sliding patio door – it worked
It fit my patio door perfectly. It was easy to install, materials seem good. Will see how it stands up over time. It’s a straight forward product, if this is the design for your patio door, it’s a good replacement.

Great replacement and does the job
We used this as a replacement on our sliding door and it is working out very well. There is an extensive amount of traffic in and out of this door and it continues to hold up. We did have to remove it once to tighten the screws into the back side of the wood handle portion, but that was easy enough to accomplish. Great replacement for our broken one and would recommend.

Installation Help – You’ll Need It
There’s probably no way to avoid buying this item if you must replace the handle set on your sliding glass door because – as far as I can tell – no other company manufactures and sells an equivalent product. In other words, Prime-Line has no competition, and it shows.Worst offense: the 1 1/4″ chrome screws supplied to secure the handle will not work on a 1″ door – you’ll need to buy 1 1/8″ screws instead.Second worse offense: the instructions are abysmal, and include an explicit diagram error. At the bottom of this written-by-an-engineer with arrogant indifference to the customer who actually relies on the instructions is a note saying “Installation drawings are typical for this style of replacement part. They may not show a part identical to the one you are installing”. In other words, “We at PRIME LINE PRODUCTS couldn’t be bothered to write accurate instructions for the part you just purchased from us. Good luck!” If you visit their web site they helpfully ask you to request an installation video if you need help. On second thought, maybe it’s not the engineer’s fault. Anyway you don’t need a rant. If you’ve gotten this far you probably just want some help installing the bloody thing. Here’s what I learned that may save you some aggravation:(1) Installing the lock supplied with this item is optional. If you do not want to use the lock then you can use the black metal exterior-facing pull as you find it. However if you DO want to use the lock then you will need to remove and discard a round metal disc where you will subsequently insert the lock cylinder. You can’t push the metal disc out with your hands; it’s designed to be secure for people who need it to stay put (because they don’t want to use the lock and the disk faces the outside). Here’s the easiest way to remove the disc:- Place two pieces of flat wood about 1″ apart on a hard surface (like the floor)- Place the black metal exterior pull unit on top of the two pieces of wood so that the disc is positioned over the 1″ gap between the two pieces of wood. The black finished side of the pull (the side that you will grip to open the door when it is installed) should be facing DOWN.- Take the largest screwdriver you have and stick it through the cylinder lock hole so that it is resting on the back of the small metal disc that you need to remove. As much as possible you want to center the screwdriver on the disc.- Take a hammer and give the screwdriver a hard whack. The disc will pop out. You don’t want to get crazy but you do want to strike the screwdriver pretty hard. If you just tap it the disc may come partly off and then you might have the challenge of pulling it the rest of the way off with a pliers, and that invites damage to the opening, etc.- Discard the black disc once it’s out. You have to install the lock now or your door will have a hole in it through which water and cold air will enter. You’re committed.(2) There are TWO different washers involved in assembling the lock, and they’re both “thin”. Like all washers, pretty much. The instructions unhelpfully tell you to “Slip thin washer under lock disc on inside of casing, if supplied.” The diagram shows what appears to be the smaller, springier, black wire-like washer inside the locking mechanism but the diagram isn’t accurate and in any case that’s not where the smaller, springier, black wire-like washer goes anyway. Here’s how it works:- the black, wire-like, springy washer that comes with the locking cylinder stays where it is. You do not need to remove it. It’s purpose is to supply tension to help make the cylinder revolve smoothly.- the silver, standard washer that comes in the parts bag (what the instructions call the “thin washer”) is placed over the end of the lock cylinder AFTER you have inserted the lock cylinder in the black metal “outside pull” handle.- You will need to push down the little tab at the end of the lock cylinder so that the washer can get past it. This is an important step and it took me a while to find a way to do it. In the end I used a knife edge to carefully push the tab in far enough that I could get the washer past the tab. Once the washer is past the tab, the tab snaps out and holds the washer in place, which in turn prevents the lock cylinder from falling out.(3) This is getting long. OK: use of the interior wood handle is optional too. if you have a 1″ door and you do NOT want to install the wood handle then use the 2 black screws to hold the unit together in your door. Everything will fit just right. I have a 1″ door so I can’t vouch for the fit if you have a 1 1/8″ door, but it seems to me you’ll be ok too. However if you have a 1″ door and you DO want to install the wood handle then you have a trip to Home Depot in your near future. The 1 1/4″ chrome screws are too long to secure the handle; the screws will not insert all the way no matter how hard you turn them. I am just guessing, but I suspect some of the reviewers whose handles fell off after a short interval used the screws provided and did not realize that the wobble creates extraordinary shear stress on the screws and the handle brackets. That shear stress may account for the short life of their handles for those people. Anyway, buy some shorter screws and you will have a working door. One final note: the manufacturing quality is somewhere between so-so and poor. Two items specifically caught my attention. The lock cylinder seems cheaply made, of light metals that you generally wouldn’t expect in an exterior lock. Also, the interior On-Off lever sits loosely in its slot and requires too much force to click left and right. It’s basically shoddy construction, as if the manufacturing tolerances are insufficiently exact for the parts to fit together smoothly. There are more installation clarifications I could supply but these are the things that slowed me down the most. If anyone reading this can locate a competing product from a company that treats their customers with a little more consideration and respect please post the Amazon link. These guys really need some competition if they’re going to make this into a quality product. I suspect it’s the only language they understand.

You get what you pay for.
The good:This product is a great value being around $25. I was able to install in about an hour. Itâs looks pretty decent and is a pretty good fit and replacement for a broken handle. It functions average. The quality is pretty low, but you only paid $25.The bad:Many people mentioned the screws being too short. Only the screws that go through the handle are too short. If you donât install that, it fits fine. I had to find washers to put under the handle to make it fit.The lock wobbles even when everything is tight. You can see the lock flexing when you slightly tug on the door. The internal pieces are pretty low quality, but now you can see why some handles cost 6 times as much. The instructions are very hard to read and make sense of. But honestly, there are only a few screws, I figured it out by looking at the old handle. The ugly:It required I cut a portion of the door out for the locking mechanism to fit through the opening. Itâs not easy cutting through metal and really hard to make it look presentable if you donât have proper tools. But I needed to lock my door, so I had to cut it out. My handle is 15 years old, so I am sure there have been many similar handles made over the years that are just slightly different. All in all, my door locks and has a wooden handle. It cost me an hour and $25. Plus it was delivered next day for free. Often if life, you get what you pay for. This one gets the job done, but requires a little extra.

This is not a flush mount handle that I thought it was, however company allowed me to return it without issue. When I attempted to install this one it felt like a quality product

Construction is superb, and also as per description. This is a quality product. Includes the wooden handle, the flush fitting, the lock cylinder, all attachments and screws etc. But somehow the measurements of this product did not match my existing fitting cutout in sliding door. I have reasons to believe that this is due to my existing fittings and not this product. Also the hole separation is different in both but like I said it may not be product fault.

The locking pin is too close to the frame and not adjustable, options are available for left hand or right hand doors within the pack. Wasted a couple of hours taking out the old only to find this didn’t work

This worked well. I had one from Homedepot that broke down pretty quickly and never really fit well. This one is very tight and looks good.
