Benefits & Use Cases
The ULTRALOQ U-Bolt Pro is well-suited for homeowners seeking a reliable, feature-rich smart lock that balances security with everyday convenience. Its direct Wi-Fi capability eliminates dependency on third-party hubs, reducing complexity and potential points of failure. The inclusion of multiple access methods—including biometric fingerprint scanning—ensures quick entry during busy mornings or when carrying groceries, while anti-peep keypad technology safeguards against shoulder surfing. Remote eKey sharing allows trusted individuals like housekeepers or contractors to gain access even when you’re away, with options to set expiration dates or revoke permissions instantly. For those invested in smart home ecosystems, compatibility with SmartThings and IFTTT enables customized automations such as activating door chimes or lighting sequences based on lock activity. The auto-lock and auto-unlock functionality enhances routine efficiency, particularly beneficial for people who frequently misplace keys or forget to secure their doors manually.
Important Notes
This model supports only 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks and will not function on 5GHz connections. Users must ensure their router broadcasts a 2.4GHz signal for proper operation. While most customers praise the lock’s intuitive app interface and robust build quality, some have reported occasional connectivity issues with Wi-Fi stability—particularly in areas with weak signals or interference. It is recommended to place the lock within optimal range of the router and avoid thick walls or metal obstructions between the device and network. Installation requires a standard deadbolt preparation on the interior side of the door; compatibility should be verified prior to purchase based on existing hardware. The package includes all necessary mounting hardware, instructional guides, and a physical key backup. As with any smart device, regular software updates via the app are advised to maintain performance and security. Backed by Ultraloq—a leading brand serving over one million satisfied users across the United States—this product comes with dependable manufacturer support including a lifetime mechanical warranty covering internal mechanisms and an 18-month electronic warranty addressing circuit and Wi-Fi module components.

Great product, good support
Installation was straightforward if you have installed any other lockset previously. The function was good and app worked well for setting up pass codes, fingerprint and app access. I was surprised at how good the fingerprint ID worked. My lock is inside so I cannot speak to how well the fingerprint would work in exterior environments. I really like that attached to the WIFI I can access the lock, allow access to the office to users and verify the door is locked when they leave. The App is very intuitive, professional and clean. The lock did stop working after a week. I thought it might be batteries as I had used the ones shipped with the unit (recommend using new batteries not provided). Unfortunately after a bit of testing it seemed something had failed. Good news is that Ultraloq support was very helpful and immediately sent out a replacement interior control unit. It took about a week to receive which was not optimal, but leading up to the holidays I can’t hold that against them. Follow up by customer support was also very good and they handled shipping and return. Replacement part installed and re programmed and all is working well for a number of weeks now. I will continue to monitor as this gets daily use and see how it holds up to the test of time.Overall very happy with this purchase and the support by Ultraloq. They asked me to review after assisting with my issues and I am glad to do so.

Great lock, almost perfect!
We have owned this lock for 1 year. (I wrote this review at 2 months, but we still love the lock, and even bought the cheaper code only version for the back door, since we could share the wifi bridge with multiple locks.)Ok, first of all, installation was a breeze. We were replacing a manual deadbolt, and I’m not even sure we looked at the directions – everything went together without a hitch!Setup was pretty easy too, though if you set it up from the lock itself, and then you want to use the app, you’ll have to reset the lock and start over. But even with setting up, resetting and doing it again from the app, we were up and running in about 30 minutes. The lock detects my and my wife’s fingerprints just fine. My mom, who is 92, not so much. We assumed her complaints about not being able to grip with her finger tips any more was a grip strength issue, not a friction issue, but maybe not – this lock just does not recognize her fingerprints. It allows her to save them, but when she goes to open the door, it rejects her every time. But as she doesn’t go out on her own any more, and her code works fine, so it’s not a big deal. The fingerprint is more so we can get in quickly if there is an issue, without having to have her key in hand, so it is fine for us.The app is good, and simple to use. Sometimes it doesn’t connect on the first try, but it’s like it times out too early, as the second try is always successful. There are indicators in the app as to what method it is using to connect, which is good to see what it’s trying to do.It’s very simple to add a user to the lock, and I like that you can choose for each user if they have a code, a fingerprint, or the app, or any combination. Each user is allowed two fingerprints. (I saw another user saying “only two?” but for me, based on height and doorjamb, I really ever only use my thumbs to open the lock, and 95% my left thumb. It’s too awkward otherwise.) You can also disable a user without deleting that user. We have a code that is shared with the neighbors if we go out of town, but when we are in town, we disable that user. A user can also have scheduled times or days when it works; for example, you could allow a health worker access between 9 and 12 every weekday, but nothing else outside of those hours and days. You can set up a temporary code for say a repair person, that expires after one use. I’ve never seen quite so many options on a lock! The only “connected” service I’ve tried this with is IFTTT, and I’m disappointed in that. I have motion sensors set up in the house to “see” if my Mom is moving around (in a non-invasive way) and the triggers feed a spreadsheet. I’d like the lock to do the same thing, and IFTTT is set up correctly to do so as it works occasionally. Maybe 1 in 10, but that’s generous. I know that it *should* work, because the text notification I get seems to work 100% of the time. So I don’t really have a theory as to why the other fails – both are internet based – if one works the other should. To respond to a few other reviews I saw: It’s never given me a “lock jammed” warning. It’s never lost its memory on “handing” – whether the lock is installed left side or right side. I don’t use the “automatic unlock” feature. We purchased this lock to give us anytime access to the house without having to find the key, and to allow outside access to the house if necessary – she wears a medical alert device, and now the responders can get in if needed. So everything else is fluff, and we are very happy with this lock!

Good lock overall, but with some issues
This is a pretty good smart lock. You can set it to lock the door when you leave automatically. It can also unlock the lock for you when it detects you have arrived home. This feature seems to work well for my wife but spotty for me. We also setup finger print and lock code access. That also all works pretty well. The issue we we have had was with the door lock sensor. After about two weeks this stopped working. I attempted to fix it a few times but did not get very far with it. I then figured out a week or two later it was a battery issue as the whole unit died. Once the batteries were replaced that worked again. Issue is it only had batteries in it for 3 or 4 weeks at max since install. It also has some good customization options.Installation was pretty easy, although I found it needed to be very careful when installing each screw as it did affect the locks ability to close. I had to get in there with a chisel and clear some material out to make sure the bolt closed freely. If yours has issue closing check with the door open to ensure it is not a fitment issue between the door/lock/frame.I did reach out to customer support with some of these problems and I found them very responsive and helpful.

I’ve had a few other door smart devices before and this one stands out with all the functionality and the app. Everything works really well. There was a small error on my part, I thought the model I had ordered came with a sensor that allowed the lock to detect when it was closed, but unfortunately as I discovered later on once I touched base with Utec support team I discovered the one I got doesn’t support the sensor so it locks with the timer only. It’s not a big deal as I’ve other doors I can use the one I ordered and I can get the correct one next time.Support was super responsive and knowledgeable, including advising what model I should get to have all the functionalities I wanted.Definitely a nice product.
