Product Overview
The Max & Lily Low Bunk Bed with Stairs is a thoughtfully designed twin-over-twin bed frame crafted for young children and families seeking both safety and style. Standing at just 50 inches high, this low-profile bunk bed is specifically built to maximize space in smaller rooms while providing a secure sleeping environment for younger kids. The bottom bed sits only two inches off the floor, making it accessible and ideal for little ones, while the top bunk features 14-inch guardrails to ensure stability and safety during sleep. Constructed from solid, knot-free wood, the frame delivers lasting strength and durability, reinforced by plywood slats and a metal support bar that allows each sleeping surface to support up to 400 pounds of resting weight. The included staircase replaces traditional ladders, offering a safer, more comfortable way for children to climb and descend.
Key Features
- Low-Profile Design: At just 50 inches tall, this bunk bed fits seamlessly into smaller bedrooms and reduces risks associated with climbing high ladders. It’s especially suitable for younger children who benefit from easy access and lower entry points.
- Integrated Staircase: Instead of standard ladders, the included stairs provide a safe, gradual ascent to the top bunk—great for building confidence in toddlers and young kids while minimizing fall hazards.
- Solid Wood Construction: Built from knot-free wood, the bed frame ensures enhanced structural integrity and long-term stability, free from weak spots that can compromise safety or durability over time.
- Low VOC Finish: The durable, low-VOC finish supports cleaner indoor air quality, making it a healthier choice for homes with children sensitive to chemicals or strong odors.
- Adjustable Installation: The staircase can be mounted on either the left or right side of the bed, giving you flexibility to fit the layout of any bedroom setup.
- Flush Hardware & Clean Look: Color-matched hardware and slatted headboards and footboards create a streamlined, clutter-free appearance that blends well with various decor styles.
- Superior Weight Capacity: Each mattress support system—featuring plywood slats and a metal under-bed support bar—can handle up to 400 pounds of resting weight, ensuring reliable performance for growing children.

Benefits & Use Cases
This Max & Lily Low Bunk Bed is ideal for families living in apartments, small homes, or shared rooms where space optimization is essential. Its compact height makes it particularly suitable for children ages 6 and up, who are ready for a top bunk but still need a safe, low-access option rather than a traditional high-rise bunk. The integrated staircase encourages independence as kids learn to navigate the bed on their own, all while reducing the physical strain compared to climbing a ladder. The ability to install the stairs on either side adds practical value for tight corners or existing furniture placement. Whether used in a child’s room, guest room, or multi-sibling household, this bunk bed combines everyday functionality with thoughtful safety design.
Important Notes
- Assembly is required and includes all necessary tools and hardware; instructions are provided for straightforward setup.
- The bed is intended for use with standard-sized twin mattresses; ensure proper fit within guardrail clearance.
- Due to its low height, this model may not be suitable for older children or adults seeking elevated sleeping platforms.
- The low bottom bed position is excellent for toddlers transitioning from cribs but should always be supervised during use.

Beautiful bunk but assembly is a pain in the backside !!
I wrote a long review and it got deleted ð¢ so here I go again but shorter .. itâs great once itâs joined sturdy and looks beautiful takes up very little space and is very safe .The assembly is such a pain in the backside though it took us almost 6 hours as the instructions where off and the stairs come in separate box that took us a minimum of 2 hours by itself to assemble .Done if the instructions did not make sense telling us to join part b with f and those parts did not go together . We also constructed the stairs according to the instructions but when we came to attaché them to the bunk one of the side pieces was the wrong one so stairs had to be taken apart again so that it could attaché to the bunk correctly . The bunk can be constructed with stairs on left or right and you have to follow the correct instructions for that but even after doing that we had an issue so in total it took us over 5 hours to join this bunk but my girls love it so I guess it was worth it . I advise maybe join the bunk in one day and stair on another just to break it up . I joined this with my husband so I had help but it still took so long .

Works as designed, but not perfect.
When researching for a low bunk bed, I wanted one with stairs so my child could be safer while climbing rather than using a ladder. Though this bunk bed was on the more expensive side, I took a chance even with all the bad reviews saying itâs hard to put together and some parts came damaged. After receiving the bunk bed and putting to together, I would agree that many reviews here are truthful. There are no words to help with the instructions, but if youâre detailed oriented, itâs not hard to follow. The hardest part of the install is when you need to not tighten the screws all the way, the manual says 80% tightened, but really it should be 50% tightened or you risk scratching your bed posts with the wood inserts. Other than that, the wood pieces come not perfect and there are scratches and dents here and there. But overall it is sturdy enough for a child, though I would not try to sleep on the top bunk as an adult. I am satisfied overall, and it is a cool bed so I still gave it 5 stars if you can overlook that instructions are not the best and wood is not perfect. Buy it if you are looking for a low bunk bed with stairs.

Floor Bunk Beds
We love our floor bunk beds! They are super sturdy! I donât love that they get delivered in two boxes as our stairs went missing but Amazon was amazing and sent us another! It wasnât crazy hard to assemble either but you do need two people!

Almost perfect,but…
Likes: height makes you feel secure with a toddler on top bunk, stair are doable for toddler as they are not too steep and have traction slits at edge of each stair to prevent slips, no sharp edges to wood so no worries about kids ripping their skin if you have one that tosses and turns alot, rustic color, very sturdy no wobbling, weight capacity, light weight and easy to move across hard wood floors at least, stair panels are “customizable ” made a little cubby instead of closing stairs offDislikes: smells like it’s been sitting in a moldy warehouse for a few years

Great toddler bed
At this price point, this is fairly sturdy and dependable choice. It took a few hours to assemble working solo (and might have done faster if not for toddlers wanting to inspect the work at every step). This isn’t going to be last for decades craftsmanship, but at this price you shouldn’t expect it to. There is a little flex if the littles lean into the railings (they are not secured it by screw) which gives me a little hesitancy, but that is an issue easily remedied by some wood adhesive. The finish isn’t of super high quality either and there are a couple spots where the wood was gouged/chipped during manufacturing or shipping. But in general, the bunks fit a twin mattress perfectly, the steps are easy for toddlers to maneuver (and for an adult to use as well if needed). I was surprised how easy it was to assemble solo.

Perfect Bunkbeds
I needed sturdy bunkbeds for my 5 yr old grandsons. I was concerned about the traditional height of bunkbeds and the ceiling fan. This was perfect! They are not as high, very easy to put together and everything fit and all the pieces were there!ðð¼Very sturdy!

Great product
I echo most of the reviews. Beautiful piece of furniture very well designed and engineered. I take pride in my ability to put things together. This one took a while. The instructions are very good with exception of the staircase. Took me a while to understand the schematic. But I do love a challenge. It is a solid, sturdy bed. The staircase makes it a lot safer than the usual ladders. Great product for the price. Also I got it 5 days after ordering. Delivery was excellent. I got texts with a projected time two days before and when they were on way over. Delivery guys offered to take it to the bedroom. Very courteous.

Missing Staircase
The bunk bed arrived in good condition. However, the building supplies to build the staircase were not in the box. I have reached out to the manufacturer and have not heard back. Now my 5 and 3 yr old cannot get to the top bunk with out a struggle.Update: After speaking with the kind manufacturer,, we were told it shouldâve come in 2 boxes. However, the product was from the wear house and I should contact Amazon again. Contacted Amazon for the 3rd time and came to the conclusion that they forgot to ship the 2nd box. We came to a good resolution. The bunk beds are sturdy and perfect for a 3 & 5 yr old. Even the 8 yr old fits on them very nicely. I highly recommend this bed for durability, quality and compact height.
