The DHP Full Kids Metal Bunk Bed in Black is a modern, space-saving solution designed specifically for growing families or children who share a bedroom. Built with a sturdy metal frame, this full-over-full bunk bed provides two comfortable sleeping areas in a single structure, making it ideal for siblings or accommodating guests during sleepovers. The sleek black finish adds a contemporary touch that complements a wide range of interior styles, from minimalist to industrial-themed rooms. At 78.5 inches wide, 56.5 inches deep, and 72 inches high, the bed fits comfortably within standard room dimensions while maximizing vertical space—perfect for smaller homes or rooms where floor area is at a premium. With a weight capacity suited for standard full-size mattresses up to 6 inches thick, this bunk bed combines practicality with reliable performance.

Key Features

  • Durable Metal Construction: Made from robust steel, the frame resists bending, warping, and wear over time, ensuring long-term stability and safety for daily use by active children.
  • Integrated Safety Rails: Guardrails are permanently attached to the top bunk, offering continuous protection against falls without the risk of being removed accidentally.
  • Built-In Ladder Access: A securely fixed ladder is included and designed for easy, safe climbing, eliminating the need for separate step stools or external accessories.
  • Metal Slat Support System: The bed features horizontal slats that provide firm mattress support directly, removing the necessity for box springs or bunky boards while enhancing overall durability.
  • Full-Over-Full Layout: This configuration allows two full-sized mattresses (sold separately) to be placed side by side on each level, supporting two children comfortably in one compact unit.
  • Sleek Matte Black Finish: The powder-coated black surface resists scratches and fading, maintaining its modern look through years of use and cleaning.

Benefits & Use Cases

This bunk bed is especially valuable for families with two children sharing a room, offering a secure and organized sleeping arrangement that reduces clutter and optimizes available space. The vertical design makes efficient use of square footage, which is particularly beneficial in urban homes or apartments where every inch counts. Parents frequently highlight the peace of mind provided by the permanent guardrails and non-detachable ladder, both of which help prevent accidental falls and reduce the risk of injuries during active sleep or playtime. Many users appreciate how well the bed fits into typical bedroom layouts—neither too bulky nor awkwardly shaped—allowing for furniture placement around windows, closets, or play areas.

Another major advantage is the elimination of additional foundation needs thanks to the metal slat system. Unlike traditional beds that require box springs or bunky boards, this design uses slatted support bars that distribute weight evenly across the mattress, promoting better airflow and prolonging mattress life. This also simplifies setup and maintenance, as there’s no need to source matching box springs or worry about compatibility issues.

While some customers note occasional noise such as squeaking or creaking when moving on the upper bunk, most agree that the bed remains stable and functional under normal use. The consensus among buyers is that the DHP Full Kids Metal Bunk Bed delivers strong value: it’s well-built, stylish, and practical for everyday family life. It’s commonly used not just for regular nightly sleep but also as a go-to option for weekend sleepovers or unexpected overnight guests, thanks to its compact footprint and dual-level comfort.

Important Notes

  • Mattresses Not Included: Two full-size mattresses must be purchased separately and should measure exactly 75″ x 54″ with a maximum thickness of 6 inches to ensure proper fit and support.
  • Noise During Movement: Some users report mild squeaking or creaking sounds when climbing or shifting on the upper bunk, likely due to metal-on-metal contact under load. Tightening all bolts and fasteners after initial assembly can often minimize these noises.
  • Stability Considerations: While most customers find the bed solid and stable, opinions vary slightly regarding long-term rigidity depending on floor type (e.g., hardwood vs. carpet). Placing the bed away from walls and ensuring even support beneath all legs can improve performance.
  • Assembly Required: The product arrives in multiple parts and requires full assembly using the provided instructions and tools. Adult supervision and assistance are recommended, particularly when securing joints and attaching the ladder.
  • Age & Weight Recommendations: Designed for children ages 6 and up, assuming they can safely climb and navigate the ladder independently. Always monitor younger or more active sleepers to ensure continued safety.

    Excellent construction for the price!
I’m pleasantly surprised with the overall craftsmanship of the metal pieces! Every piece of the unassembled beds had nice solid powder coating throughout (I purchased the blue color beds), I didn’t see any flaws in the paint or welding. The metal bars/slats aren’t flimsy at all! My 7&10 year old sons and I put it together easily in roughly 2 hours, according to the easy-to-follow instructions. Yes, it wobbles some, but for the intended use by young children it’s a great buy for the low cost! It’s tall in an 8’ ceiling, so my 7 year old fits fine. I’ve even been on the top bunk (5’9”) with my son reading and felt secure!

    Good buy
I purchased this bed as a second option to another bunk bed I saw on Amazon. Not only was this one a better price, it was super easy to put together. I will say, the bottom plastic pieces caused small cuts on my hands from trying to fit everything together, but no other injuries to report. My only complaints arethis bed wobbles, not badly, but the bed makes noises whenever someone is climbing to the top bunk of moving around on the bottom and the mattresses don’t fit the frame perfectly..see picture. These are your standard full size mattresses. Holding up so far though.

    Great value, mid quality
This bed is aesthetically pleasing and extremely tall. Most bunk beds sold online have been shorter than expected, so it was nice to find a tall full sized bunk with decent room between levels. It’s priced perfectly, in my opinion, as the bed could have slight improvements.Additionally, the sturdiness lacks as it wiggles when climbing up. I would recommend this bed for a carpeted room to help with slight sturdiness issues; mostly because there’s nothing to hold the bed in place on wood floor bedrooms beyond the weight.Overall still would recommend purchasing this bed. It’s a great find!

    Bunk bed
I bought this full over full bunk bed for my two sons and it was easy to put together but it is very wobbly and does not feel very sturdy. Every time my son climbs up the ladder to the top bunk, the whole bed sways back and forth a little. It’s good for the price and it’s doing its job but I wish it was more sturdy. It’s all loud and squeaks at times.

    Great product. Easy build
But it’s for my two girls ages nine and three. And they could not be happier. Took us about two hours to build it but that was with all four of my kids in the room and grabbing things that they shouldn’t. You should be able to build it in less than two. My only complaint is that it does wobble ever so slightly when my daughter climbs on and off of the top bunk. We have it in the corner so it bumps up against the wall when she’s climbing up and it’s annoying sound but otherwise very sturdy

    The structure moves a lot…
It is true that the size is perfect. Everything would be perfect if it weren’t for the fact that the structure moves a lot. What I want to convey to future buyers very sincerely is that if the person sleeping upstairs moves or turns over in bed, the entire structure moves a lot at the slightest movement (like a jelly 😁). And now, let’s skip to the “good” part: the assembly. The large pieces are easy to put together but OMG…when you have to assemble the bed base it is horrible. A million if small plastic pieces…it literally takes you two hours to finish and you leave half your fingers fitting little pieces together. It’s crazy. It comes with almost no spare parts (in a move, if you lose more than three screws, you’d better throw away the bunk bed). I bought this structure for the price, but once assembled, I can say that it does not seem like a good quality product. I don’t recommend it.

    Juro lo que buscaba
Estaba en busca de una litera pero que pueda poner un colchón más grande en ambas partes. La litera no es complicada de ensamblar y me gusta que sea tamaño full arriba y abajo.

Bought this full bunk bed when it was 2 days Prime day! I am happy I bought it! It gives so much room space for my kids to play in their bedroom. The bottom bed has so much head room that I, as an adult can sit on the bed and not hitting my head on top of the bed. It took me and my husband 2 hrs to install it. Delivered as date expected and the courier brought this heavy metal bed infront of my doorstep. Assembly is quite easy just don’t get mixed up with the screws everything is attached to the paper board with their sizes just check it first. My boys are 9 and 10 and they don’t complain about the ladder hurts their feet going up. It’s sturdy and great looking bed. The only thing is it’s a bit wobbly. If you don’t want it wobbly you can secure/bolt it through your wall. Overall we are very happy!

The colour is grey as someone else commented, not silver. Otherwise, it’s a great bunk bed. It’s sturdy and easy to assemble. My mattresses fit really well. Mind that we have pillowtop thick mattresses; surprisingly, the fit. This is our guest room. My only suggestion is to add the steps to the side; these steps are hard and small for chubby people. Also, the steps location limit the options to position the bed. I wish I didn’t have to cover the light coming from my window. It’s the only negative opinion I have.

Bed was pretty easy to build, came with all the pieces and even some extras. Over all the bed is ok, the ladder squeaks some and the bed is wobbly. I was scared to sleep on the top bunk at first with how wobbly it is, but once I got up there I was fine. The weight capacity for the bed does live up, I’m 215 and the top bunk holds 300. The ladder could be a bit wider though, for those who are on the bigger side. I decided to cut up a pool noodle and put it on each rung of the ladder, it does kind of hurt the feat to climb up without shoes on. I’m not sure if I’d say its “small spaces approved”, but I was able to make it work with the size of my room. It did take a heck of a hassle to get here, but I blame that on the current world event. I honestly don’t think I’ll buy again because of trouble I had to go through to get it, but I’m happy with the overall results.

Came with lot of little plastic pieces to attach the slates (poles) together. And no matter how tight you tighten the bolts, they loosen up and the frame becomes Unsturdy, shaky and noisy
