Benefits & Use Cases

This smart lock is especially beneficial for households looking to enhance both security and daily convenience. Families can grant individual access through fingerprints or personalized codes, reducing the risk of lost keys and allowing children or pets to enter independently when supervised. For Airbnb hosts or short-term rental managers, the ability to issue time-sensitive digital codes ensures seamless check-ins without repeated key handoffs. The lock’s compatibility with Alexa and Google Assistant makes it a natural fit for existing smart home ecosystems, enabling users to integrate door access into broader automation routines like turning on lights upon arrival. Its rugged build and weatherproofing make it suitable for exterior doors exposed to harsh elements, while the quick installation process means minimal disruption during setup.

Important Notes

The U-Bolt Pro requires a stable 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection and does not support 5GHz networks. It is compatible with doors that follow standard American mortise preparations but may not fit non-standard frames without additional adjustments. Batteries are not included; four AA batteries must be purchased separately. The product includes one U-Bolt Pro smart lock unit and necessary mounting hardware. Support is available via phone during business hours and email anytime. Please verify door compatibility before purchasing if unsure about existing deadbolt dimensions.

    Different models?
Update 6/21/21Just purchased a 3rd Ubolt Pro but this time with a WIFI bridge. The dead bolt on this new one is phyisicaly different from my other two which suggests this company is continuing to improve on there product.. Connection through internet is not the fastest but so far reliable. Fortunately for me since purchasing this 3rd Ubolt I found that my 2nd Ubolt that had the constant blinking when unlocked was actually a malfunction. Blinking while unlocked should only happen when auto lock is enabled. (Doesn’t state this in in manual). I suppose this explaines why that Ubolt’s battery wasn’t lasting long. That lock was fixed by a manual firmware update that was provided to me after I inquired about the lock’s blinking behavior. I no longer use these in Stand Alone mode. They are much easier to manage using the app. My 2 older locks are going strong and I am hoping this new one will do the job just as well. Ultraloq customer service is quick to respond even though it is through email. They have not had any trouble resolving any of my issues. Great product and company!Update: 1/6/21I wanted to wait a bit before updating to make sure the replacement part held up… So a little over 1 month after installing the flat buttoned version it failed. The fingerprint reader died but the physical buttons and of the key still worked. I sent a warranty repair request via email to the company and recieved a replacement part within a few days to a week. Response time was quick and painless. So far so good with the replacement fingerprint reader. Ill keep updating if anything else goes wrong.————————-Original review:Its such a good lock I bought a second one. To my suprise the second one is physically different. There obviously has been a hardware update. But there is no mentioned of it on the manufacturer’s website or the Amazon website. I included pictures of both locks. I’m assuming the lock with the indented inside handle and clear plastic number buttons is the older version and the one with the flat inside lock handle and black rubber numbers is the new version. Both locks are packaged with the same clear button version pictured on the box. Aside from the physical differences they also have firmware version differences. The clear button lock has a version number of V1.51 and the black rubber button is V1.55, both show to have the latest firmware when using the phone app. They work the same on the app and in standalone mode. The only functional difference I have noticed is that the black rubber buttoned lock flashes a red light every 3 to 5 seconds when in the unlocked position. The clear buttoned one does not flash its light when left unlocked. What interested me most was the finger print reader which works incredibly well and fast. I primary have these locks on standalone mode and have no interest in remotely unlocking from my phone, but I did play with the Bluetooth phone app and it does work fast and easily works within 30 feet very reliably.I really wish I knew there were two different versions because I do like how the other one flashes while unlocked. It is hard to see the lock position at night with dim light due to the whole thing being black but the red light makes it very clear it is open. I am hoping both versions of this lock are equally durable and last for many years, only time will tell. Over all at the moment I feel this is a good buy no matter which one you end up with.

A great improvement over the Schlage smartlock zwave version
This is a great little smart lock. My only issue with it was with the installation, as for whatever reason if the bolt does not go all the way you get a doorlock jammed error, and the remote functions of the door are halted until it gets “unjammed”.Basically you need to make sure your the hole in the door frame has at least 1″ depth or you will keep getting the door jammed error message and will be only able to open the door locally. Not only that but while the door is the jammed state you keep getting an annoying beep that will make you fix the thing really fast. With the bad stated, all other functions are really nice. You can add users remotely and provide them access with a code or through the app, which is very neat. Those users can be main users or temporary ones. The main users will have access 24/7, while with the temporary ones you can assign particular times at which they are allowed to open the door. Very nice. The title of this review makes a reference to the Schlage smart doorlock because I bought one of those a few years ago, and while it served me well, it doesn’t come close to the features of this unit. For once, you cannot add users remotely. Actually, there are actually no users in my version of that doorlock. You simply provide codes and cannot eliminate access to those codes as you wish, which leaves that smart doorlock with way fewer use cases than this UltraLock.Connecting to the wifi dongle was fast and I made sure to create a Wifi network with 2.4Ghz only. I was once a network engineer (I actually wrote that I am a network engineer and went back and used the past tense because it’s been a while since I was in that profession) but I am quite sure mostly any apt technology user will be able to install it.The physical installation is as easy as any other traditional, non-smart door lock. If you can manage to install a doorlock you will be able to install this one because it is the same.As for usability and functionality, The users haven’t had any complaints. My mother and sister bought units for them because they liked this so much. Some reviewers have mentioned issues with the fingerprint reader. Often I have to put my finger twice before it recognizes it. Nothing more. For me, it works perfectly as moving the finger a bit is nothing to me, because the doorlock lets you know immediately that it failed to recognize the fingerprint and you immediately are allowed to put the finger again for a second read that almost always final. Before I was able to setup my fingerprints at my mother’s house I used the app to open the door and it was also a breeze. Work perfectly, no problems at all. The firgerprint is faster and more convenient obviously and will be the preferred option for those users with unrestricted access to the house. You can also set passcodes to users and there is a neat functionality that adds security and it is that you can type phantom numbers in the code and the doorlock picks the correct numbers and authorizes access. When I say phantom numbers is that if for instance your access code is 12345, you can type xxx12345yyy (with xxx and yyy being any 0 to 9 digits) and the doorlock will recognize the proper access code and will open. This is useful and a very good security practice as peakers and potential intruders will have a harder time figuring out your passcode, as would those potential intruders trying to figure out your codes based on the wear of the buttons (the most used numbers are likely to show more wear than those not used). What else? I think this it. As you can see, the product is not perfect but it is close, and it doesn’t warrant to deduct a star because it is way better than a 4 out of 5 stars product. If I could give the product a 4.8 stars rating, a solid 95.Highest recommendation as you will be able to let people in to your house from anywhere, and will also be able to stop allowing them to come in. This is golden to those with homes or apartments being rented for short term stays and those living alone who need to grant access to personnel for whatever reason. Only being able to add users and give them specific times to get in is just way too cool of a feature. Great job.

TLDR: It may have its few drawbacks, but they all have solutions amd our Ultraloq Pro with Wifi bridge has been an amazing addition to our home!I did quite a bit of research in finding a smart lock that was reasonably priced, a good fit with our technologically-diverse family, had Google Home integration, was compatible with our different needs and first and foremost reliable. I was willing to chose outside of the big names, but not to go for something that felt downright dodgy. Well, I believe we hit the jackpot in this case!Their website and videos are great to confirm compatibility with your existing door and jamb and to help with installation. If you aren’t sure you can replace a deadbolt, their documentation should give you the confidence to try!The hardware itself and the functionality we are using are no less than awesome!- The fingerprint reader needs you to really take a good first reading all around your finger to work well, but when you do it is very reliable.- The temporary guest feature is very nice whenever someone comes to take care of the kids or the house in general. In this case, we use a code and it’s a breeze. We’ve only ever had amazed feedback from those who’ve used it…- The fact that there is a backup key is a great backup for some, but the deadbolt hasn’t yet made us use it.- The micro-usb plug under the deadbolt to provide emergency power is a great touch too! Definitely more my style…- The battery life is pretty good with our Eneloop AA batteries (always 4+ months with daily use) and the low-battery signal is early enough that it shouldn’t leave you stranded anyway if you want to count on it instead of replacing the batteries on a schedule.- We live in a northern climate and the deadbolt never skipped a beat despite the cold or humidity.Drawbacks exist, but they are few and far between and have a solution:- The original installation hardware we received was a little difficult to install without pinching the data cable between the interior module and the exterior one. It did cause glitches to start happening over time in that original unit, but the costumer service we received from Eli in particular when that happened was awesome! The second unit we were sent had the updated installation hardware and I uninstalled the lock after a few weeks to ensure the cable wasn’t pinched and it’s been faultless since it was installed 4 months ago.I do want to emphasize that these glitches never actually left us stranded outside, but they did get annoying especially the beeping in the middle of the night, but the new unit NEVER did it.- When you have really done your fingerprint properly, the target being rather small isn’t really a problem, but fail to do it right and it can get annoying.- Setting up fingerprints does take a while, which just tends to accentuate the previous issue. Patience is key here, you want to plan a calm 5-10 minutes without interruptions per person.- Something that isn’t Ultraloq’s fault, but needs to be mentioned: Google Home now requires a pin be entered to unlock a door… I understand the extra security this provides and don’t want to minimize it, but having to enter or speak out a pin when running a routine really goes against the whole automation concept that is so appealing with a smart lock.- And finally, the current generation is only compatible with Android phones and Google home or Alexa devices, but the word on the street is that the next one will have iOS integration! All in all, we are very happy with this deadbolt, especially since we have received the updated hardware back in August of 2023.

Received the lock very quickly in Singapore. Installation took only about 20 minutes including taking out the old deadbolt. Set up with the app was also good. Had some minor issue woth app which was very resolved with the prompt help from Support services from the makers Ultraloq. Now have been using this for one week and so far so good. Overall, a very good smart lock.

We bought this lock as it had a fingerprint reader to enable our small children to unlock the door. Living rurally and having small children can be a worry at times, but we were able to have them set their thumb prints so that should they need to access the house for whatever reason by themselves, they can. And it’s been fantastic. They usually run to unlock the door for us when we get home.It was easy to install, works great and looks so nice that we’ll be purchasing again to install on the other doors on our property. The app can be a little slow sometimes but it’s never failed us.-We can give out a temporary code to friends or family should we need to.-We can see whose code/print last accessed the house.-And we can reset it etc. easily, all through the app.I compared models from big box stores and elsewhere for months and when I finally narrowed it down to This vs Schlage, the reviews said it all and we weren’t disappointed.Best purchase we’ve made.Oh AND it arrived before the estimated delivery date!
