Benefits & Use Cases
This brewer excels in scenarios where quality takes precedence over convenience, making it ideal for discerning coffee drinkers who want café-style results at home or in light commercial settings such as offices, studios, or small cafés. Its 40-ounce capacity accommodates multiple servings, reducing the need for frequent refills—perfect for shared spaces where coffee is consumed throughout the day. The thermal carafe ensures that coffee remains hot and fresh without being reheated, which can degrade flavor over time. Many users value the ability to adjust the brew basket to fine-tune extraction based on bean origin, roast level, or personal taste preferences. Unlike fully automated machines with preset programs, the Moccamaster 79112 gives you direct control while still delivering reliable consistency. The absence of digital screens or complicated programming allows for straightforward operation, especially appealing to those who prefer mechanical simplicity. Overall, it strikes an effective balance between automation and customization.
Important Notes
To achieve peak performance, proper preparation is essential. Using too coarse a grind, insufficient coffee grounds, or inadequate tamping before brewing can lead to low pressure and under-extraction, resulting in weak or sour-tasting coffee. Conversely, overly fine grinds may clog the filter and restrict water flow. Since the amount of espresso-like concentrate extracted varies depending on grind size and coffee quantity, users may need to reprogram their technique when adjusting these variables. For best results, follow recommended ratios and ensure even saturation of grounds during the bloom phase. While the machine is praised for its brewing accuracy and thermal retention, some customers note concerns regarding long-term durability and whether the investment aligns with perceived value. Regular cleaning and adherence to care instructions will help maintain optimal function and extend the life of both the internal components and the thermal carafe.

Simple but suburb!!
I have had this Moccamaster for over a week now. Prior I used a French press. After listening to America’s Test Kitchen results of drip coffee makers (don’t like drip coffee at all) I decided to try the Moccamaster. The machine was easy to unpack, excellent packaging. Directions were clear and easy to follow. The coffee is DELICIOUS!!! I followed the recipe directions and results are excellent!! This coffee maker is all ATC said and better. It cannot be preset, it only turns on and off. It makes a full pot in just minutes. The stainless steel carafe keeps the coffee hot nicely and the coffee is still warm(not hot, just warmish) hours later with the brew stopper still inserted into the carafe. I have not used the other stopper (for keeping the coffee hotter longer) so cannot address that result. This coffee maker is expensive, but for me, well worth the price!! It is well crafted and preforms beautifully! If this one ever wears out (not too likely) I will happily but another!!UPDATE: I love, love this moccamaster! On my first review I did not know there was a safety feature. Had to update! I am barely conscious before my first cup of coffee in the AM. The safety feature saved me a big mess! If the carafe is not snugged up to the white button on the coffee maker it will not turn on. No hot coffee all over the counter because the carafe was not in position!! Yay!!! Excellent coffee and morning zombie protection!:-) Great product!!

Simple but Delicious
This drip coffee maker is exactly what it should be — straightforward, quick, and makes good coffee.I’ll reiterate what others have said about the “stop” switch on the filter basket: it’s great to be able to stop mid-brew and quickly pour yourself the first cup that comes out so you don’t have to wait for the entire pot to brew. That being said, it only takes ~5 minutes to brew a 10-cup pot, as the boiler heats quickly and gets right to work, so while some might complain about the lack of a timer, you can get your first cup in under 2 minutes, which is about as long as it takes for me to rummage around and find the cup I want anyway. (If you *really* need to get it going on a timer, get a smart plug that turns power on at a certain time and flip the machine’s switch before bed.)Stainless carafe is great, as you can brew a huge pot that doesn’t taste burnt or cold that you can drink all day.Pricey? Yes, wait for it to go on sale, and don’t bother unless you’ve got a decent grinder, since that’s half the battle.

There are certain elements of this coffee maker that have been very well thought out. I think the most critical part is the boiler, which is located in the stainless steel tower, which very rapidly brings the water to the precise right temperature for an ideal brew. The second element that really impressed me is the stainless carafe. It’s easy to fill and keeps the coffee hot for the duration of my wife’s and my long Sunday mornings over a pot of coffee. I’ve read several reviews saying that the pot lacks thermal qualities and that their coffee got cold too quickly. That was not at all my experience. Most of those reviews were from a few years ago, which makes me wonder if the design was improved since then. Other reviewers comment on the relatively large footprint of the KBT… it’s actually more compact and elegant looking than the Cuisinart model we replaced. It is; however, much taller, which could be an issue if placed under a cabinet (not our case). Overall, I really love the look of this machine. The plastic parts are meant to be replaceable over time, which is good to know such an expensive appliance will be supported over the long term. Some say the plastic is cheap. I’m pretty fussy and I think it’s okay. Not Red Dot design award great but certainly not an issue that detracts from the package as a whole. Now, the most important part: how’s the coffee? It’s definitely a lot better than our previous machine from Cuisinart. There’s some science behind getting the water temperature just right and using the right ratio of water to coffee. The Mochamaster comes with a guide that I feel waaaaay overstates the amount of coffee to use. I brew Kicking Horse Three Sisters and using the recommended 6.66 double scoops of coffee for 10 cups nearly sent me into cardiac arrest! It’s actually recommended to cut the strength with hot water rather than to reduce the brewing ratio but I have backed off the potency to my taste. The point being, this takes some trial and error to get just right for your brew. The one thing I noticed right away is how much smoother the coffee tastes and the absence of the bitterness I used to experience with my old machine. Part of it might be because this machine is new/clean but I suspect it’s just a lot better. As the adage goes, you get what you pay for. This machine isn’t cheap and value is a very personal measure. For my part,I’m very happy with my purchase. Five-stars to the people at Technivorm for being passionate about brewed coffee. Not everyone wants coffee from a puck! 🙂

We bought our moccamaster six months ago and are still loving it! We wanted to make a switch from the keurig so as to stop using all those coffee pods. Now we have a new routine with our coffee grinder and moccamaster side by side on the counter. At first I was tempted to buy a machine with lots of programmable features but, like others have said, fewer features mean less parts to break down. This machine makes a pot of coffee in 6 minutes or less. Once we found the right beans to grind and amounts to use, we now enjoy a perfect cup of coffee every time. The main thing about the moccamaster is that it heats the water up to the perfect temperature. The coffee in the carafe stays very hot for a few hours – but a pot made in the morning would only be warm, not hot, by afternoon. I have no issues with how it pours – you get to know how far to twist open the lid before pouring. Iâve never had it clog up. Works great every time. And I just love how it looks!

Before buying the Moccamaster, I had the Bona Vita coffee maker. While Bona Vita made good coffee it lacked the finish and body that one aspires from coffees at a mom and pop store. Thus eventually I returned the machine. And going through some positive reviews, I ended up buying the Mocamaster.Let me start with some sore points about the coffee maker:The plastics are light and cheap. The water container is also plastic due to which it might develop scratches over time. The thread of the carafe lid is “not so friendly” (this wasn’t a problem with Bona vita), will take time to adjust. The body is aluminum, not really stainless steel.Seems like the cup size is not standard in between the US and Europe. As 10 cups in Moccamster is equal to 8 cups of water in Bona Vita. The spoon provided is not an exact measure of perfect coffee. The measure varies depending on the type of coffee, ground size and water. Now the good part:After some trial and error, I think I got it right.Used Organica Zavida coffee from Costco.I poured 10 cups of water in Moccamaster.Set the ground level to 3 (from the start) and the number of cups to 8 in my Cuisinart coffee grinder.Seeped the coffee till the water level in Moccamaster went down to 6 cups (from 10 cups) and released the coffee. Results: Wow. The coffee had a nice body, tasted a bit buttery and had no bitter undertone. I was amazed, never thought the coffee could taste this good. I never experienced the flavor in Bona Vita. I will keep the machine and try different coffee beans :)UPDATE AFTER A MONTH: I was only able to get the optimum flavor twice in a month. I upgraded the coffee beans to kicking horse, filtered water and right kind of filter yet the flavor was quite mediocre. I ended up returning the unit and bought the Breville pour over coffee maker. Let’s see how it goes.

I bought this for my hotel breakfast buffet. It’s simply too slow to be useful. Very disappointed
