Whether you’re managing guest access or simplifying your evening routine, this smart deadbolt delivers reliable security without compromising ease of use.
Key Features
- Multiple Unlock Methods: Enjoy five distinct ways to unlock your door—fingerprint scan, PIN code, smartphone app, physical key, or voice command (when paired with a Philips Wi-Fi Bridge). This flexibility ensures you always have access, even if technology fails or batteries die.
- High-Accuracy Fingerprint Recognition: Unlock in just 0.3 seconds using advanced biometric sensors that recognize your fingerprint with up to 99.99% accuracy. No more fumbling for lost keys—just place your finger on the sensor and gain instant entry.
- Smartphone App Control & Temporary Codes: Use the free Philips Home Access app to generate unlimited one-time PINs or set timed and recurring access codes for guests, cleaners, or service providers. One-time PINs are automatically deleted after use, preventing unauthorized reuse and enhancing security.
- Auto-Lock Functionality: Integrated door position sensors detect when the door is closed and trigger automatic locking based on your preferred timer—adjustable from 30 to 180 seconds. This feature helps prevent accidental unsecured exits and adds an extra layer of protection, especially helpful for forgetful users or those carrying items.
- Voice Assistant Compatibility: Works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for hands-free operation. Note: A separate Philips Wi-Fi Bridge (sold separately) is required to enable voice control functionality.
- Easy Installation: Installs in minutes using only a screwdriver. Designed to fit most standard doors with thicknesses between 1-3/8″ and 2″. No complex tools, wiring, or professional assistance needed.

Works well for the price and for what I need
I didn’t need anything fancy, I just wanted to lock and unlock my door easily and allow my kid to get into the house in an emergency with his fingerprint (he actually likes the code better). For that, it works really well. Here’s a breakdown:Ease of installation – it’s dead simple if you already have a deadbolt. Just pay attention to little things like which screws go where and how the old one is setup. I also recommend changing out the strike plate (the metal part connected to the doorframe) with the Phillips one because it seems bigger than my old one. The other one screwed up the unit and made it lockup but worked fine after I changed it out. The hardest part of the whole thing is figuring out the cord between the two units. Oh and the door sensor instructions are not clear. Just put it level to the top of the unit and it should work. I had to move mine because it wasn’t clear where they wanted it.Ease of setup – pretty easy as well. I had my fingerprints in the system in about 5 minutes (4 fingers total). Another 5m for my kid. It also has you adjust the door to make sure it knows when it’s open/closed. It screwed up at first but seems to be working fine now.Ease of daily use – it’s just been a day but I get how it works pretty easily. It will auto-lock after you leave, but you can just use your fingerprint to get back in if you left something. My kid is short so his fingerprints do not register that well. However, he likes the code better anyway, and that works just fine. Mine work perfectly. You can also open the app and use that. It’s pretty quick. There’s just one gripe so far. There’s a button on the unit itself that seems to just lock the door only. Every Airbnb I’ve ever been in (that uses a cheap knockoff of this) that button will close AND open the door. The mechanism to open is smooth and easy, but the button only good for one way is an odd choice and not that useful.

Easy to install works smoothly
Impressed with this deadbolt.Installation was pretty straightforward as long as you have an existing deadbolt. I had to notch out a deeper recessed hole in the door frame for the strike plate and strike plate additional security bracket but it wasnât too big of a deal.Mechanism is smooth and pretty quiet. Setting codes is super easy and the key works as well. The fingerprint recognition is surprisingly accurate and easy to use.The lock isnât the most heavy duty thing Iâve seen but definitely better than most inexpensive options at big box stores.I opted out for the hub to connect it with my Alexa. Keep in mind you need the hub to integrate into your smart system.Screen illuminates nicely when activated and disappears when not in use which makes for a sleek look. The voice alerts are nice too but are easily turned off.Overall exactly what I wanted at a great Black Friday price.

Great Lock with all the features I needed
I was a little skeptical about this because it didn’t have a lot of reviews like others and I didnt think Philips was known for making locks. Having said that, I decided to give this a shot and am pleasantly surprised. It pretty straight forward to install this lock and it took me about 45 min. The lock mechanism is pretty good and seems well built and solid. the convenience of fingerpint (which has been working great so far) and PIN code along with concealed key hole are great options. Overall, happy with this lock and looking forward to years of usage. Also, app is just ok. Does everything as expected but I think the UI could be better. Lastly, the description said that it worked with Alexa but when I tried to add it to my Alexa account it said the model I got doesn’t support it. Taking a start down just for that.

Simple, priced well, easy to install; lacking Google or Alexa support
Bottom line: Simple alternative to more expensive locks- especially if you don’t need Google Home, Alexa, or Homekit integration. The lack of remote access or the ability to addWho is this for: Ideal for those who either haven’t selected a smart home platform/ecosystem to work in or simply don’t care to, this lock is mainly for a place you live at, as there aren’t many remote access options. You must enroll fingerprints on the lock itself (can’t do it in the app) and can only issue one-time PIN codes, not codes with expiration like others (e.g. Lockly).Ease of installation: 5/5 – ExcellentMakes you feel like a genius, no matter how (un)technical you are. It just works. Well designed and helpful instructions with quality hardware (e.g. strike plates).Looks: 5/5 – ExcellentLooks stylish, minimalistic, and perhaps a little like an angry Cylon when locked. We got the satin nickel and black finish.Versatility: 5/5 – ExcellentWant to unlock with a PIN code? Check. How about fingerprints? Yup. How about with a custom PIN for your dogwalker or Uncle Bert? Gotcha covered. How about if it loses power or if you’re just old-school? There are two keys for that.Integrations: 0/5 The only major negative of this lock is it does not work with Google Home, Alexa, or Apple Homekit. So you do have to use the Philips app to set it up, but the app is easy to use.The Competition:Another good option is the Lockly Secure Pro, but its setup is a little less intuitive in the app and the overall cost of ownership is higher. It is a very robust solution though, which I recommend for rental homes.Worst: Yale x Nest (which is the worst because it makes you start over repeatedly, and use two different apps to make it work – the Nest app and the Google Home app). Oh, and if you get the bug where it eats batteries in 2 days instead of 3 months, you’re just earned an expensive paperweight.
