Product Overview

This 1-inch wet diamond core drill bit from HBKEEN is engineered for deep, precise drilling into the toughest construction materials such as concrete, reinforced concrete, brick, block, and marble. With a 14-inch maximum drilling depth and a universal 5/8″-11 thread arbor, it’s designed to work seamlessly with standard rotary hammer drills and core drilling machines. The bit features laser-welded turbo segments that deliver aggressive cutting action while maintaining segment integrity under high-stress conditions. Operating exclusively in wet mode ensures optimal cooling and lubrication, which not only extends tool life but also produces cleaner, more accurate holes—ideal for professional contractors and serious DIYers tackling demanding masonry projects.

Key Features

  • Laser-Welded Turbo Segments: Advanced laser welding technology bonds the diamond segments to the steel core with exceptional strength and precision. This process eliminates delamination risks and ensures consistent performance during prolonged use in hard substrates.
  • Turbo Segment Design: The aggressive cutting profile includes strategically placed chip removal holes that efficiently evacuate debris from the hole, preventing clogging and maintaining smooth operation even in dense or rebar-laced concrete.
  • Wet-Use Only Operation: Continuous water flow is essential for effective heat dissipation and friction reduction. Dry drilling will generate excessive heat, leading to rapid wear, segment damage, and potential failure of both the bit and your equipment.
  • Precision Engineering: Concentric axes alignment and highly regular sawteeth minimize wobble and vibration, promoting straighter, more accurate holes—critical when installing electrical conduits, plumbing sleeves, or anchor systems.
  • Universal Compatibility: The 5/8″-11 threaded shank fits most standard drill adapters, spindles, and extensions used across major brands of rotary hammers and core drill rigs.

Technical Specifications

  • Diameter: 1 inch (25.4 mm)
  • Maximum Drilling Depth: 14 inches (355.6 mm)
  • Thread Type: 5/8″-11″
  • Compatible Materials: Concrete, reinforced concrete, brick, block, hard brick, asphalt, marble
  • Operating Method: Wet only—water must be continuously applied during drilling
  • Model Number: SZX1
  • Package Dimensions: 17 x 2.4 x 2.4 inches
  • Weight: 1.44 pounds
  • Country of Origin: China

Benefits & Use Cases

This core drill bit excels in applications requiring clean, deep holes through heavily reinforced or extremely hard masonry surfaces. It’s particularly effective for installing electrical conduit runs, creating openings for plumbing stacks, setting anchor bolts, or preparing channels for HVAC ductwork in concrete walls and floors. The high-quality diamond matrix allows it to cut efficiently around embedded rebar without compromising speed or accuracy.

Because it operates strictly in wet mode, this bit generates significantly less dust and heat compared to dry alternatives—making it safer and more practical for indoor jobs where ventilation is limited. Proper water application also improves surface finish quality and reduces chipping at the hole edges, resulting in professional-grade results every time.

Whether you’re working on a commercial renovation, new construction site, or large-scale home improvement project, this 1-inch wet diamond core bit delivers reliable performance backed by HBKEEN’s commitment to durability and innovation.

Important Notes

  • This is a wet-use-only drill bit. Never attempt dry drilling—doing so will dramatically shorten its lifespan and may damage both the bit and your drill machine due to overheating and accelerated wear.
  • Always confirm that your drill accepts a 5/8″-11 threaded shaft before purchase to ensure full compatibility.
  • Some users have reported shorter thread lengths than expected; verify fit if using with specific adapters, couplings, or extension rods that require extended threading.
  • Begin drilling in a vertical position and maintain steady downward pressure while gradually increasing depth. Avoid lateral force or twisting motions to preserve segment alignment and hole straightness.
  • Ensure a consistent supply of clean water throughout the entire drilling process. Insufficient coolant can lead to premature failure and poor cut quality.
  • If you encounter any issues with product performance or quality during use, contact HBKEEN customer support promptly for assistance—they aim to provide a satisfying experience for all customers.

    Worked Great
I wanted to make water fountains out of two pieces of sandstone. I needed to drill 1” holes 26” through the length of the stone. I bought two bits from two different manufacturers incase one did not work as well as another. For once, Blue works better than Red and as it turned out the HBKEEN performed the best. I used the other brand for only a short period of time due to the obvious performance differences. The HBKEEN cut faster and was easier to clean out. The sandstone packs inside the core bit and I found it easier to wash the waste out with a hand pump sprayer than to try to knock the waste out. The HBKEEN has teeth with an inside diameter smaller than inside diameter of the tube, so the core is easier to clean out. The other brand has an inside diameter which is close to the same, which makes clean out harder. Even with the HBKEEN, it needed to be cleaned out ever inch or so.The only drawback to the HBKEEN was that the threads for the adapter are recessed about 1/2 inch or so and my adapter would not engage the threads. Using a hacksaw, I cut about 1/2” off the end of the bit. I ground the end so that the shoulder would be square with the adapter. Then it worked fine. I bought extensions so I could drill the full 26” from one end for a straight hole.

    Worked pretty good
Was able to drill through 17 inches thick and it got the job done. It was worn out when I got through but it did work well. It even cut through one rod of ½ inch rebar.

    Somewhat reliable drill bit
Not a bad deal for this bit, was able to complete about 12 holes with concrete then cue deck pan before noticing three of the teeth were chipped off. Not bad for the price point, had to order three bits to complete a total of 38 holes.

good quality, may not fit all 5/8-11 adapters
overall quality of the core bit is good, but I wish they just made the base larger somehow to accept a larger thread size that’s common for chucks with a water feed system.note: this WILL NOT, accept all 5/8-11 adapters. the threads start about 3/4in from the end, so many adapters may not engage the threads enough or at all. I cut most of the unthreaded part off the end of the bit on a bandsaw and its fine now, but most people may not have this option.

    Great value
Drilled a 10″ deep hole in granite with a grinder at 2500 rpm. Tip is still very newish. Clogged a couple times but to be expected not using a boring rig.

    Great deal
I went to a tool rental and it would’ve cost $75 to rent a drill and then you had to buy the core drill bit @ $150. So I checked on this with a 1/2″ x 1-1/4″-7 adaptor and it was a lil tough to push but it was also a 14″ thick solid concrete wall with rebar. Was tough on me and the drill but not the bit it worked great. Still looks new. Just remember to use a spray bottle to keep spraying water on it.

    Excellent Product
I wasn’t sure if this core drill bit would help me do a core sample in a 14 inch concrete wall. To my surprise it easily did the horizontal 14 inch core. I used a garden hose to drip water from above during the drilling. I used my Bosch Hammer Drill attached to the core bit. That drill has a few years but it’s a beast. I highly recommend this core bit.

    Not a good tool
The first time it was used two of the teeth broke off. Couldn’t even finish what was started. I had to rent a tool for the job.
