Perfect for assembling flat-pack furniture, hanging pictures or mirrors, tightening loose hinges, and handling other simple DIY projects, this 3.6V screwdriver delivers consistent performance without the hassle of batteries or cords. Its lightweight build and ergonomic design make it easy to control, while the pivoting handle allows for improved access in tight or awkward spaces. Whether you’re a beginner or tackling routine household repairs, this tool offers reliable functionality with minimal learning curve.
Key Features
- Ergonomic Pivoting Handle: The handle rotates into three distinct positions, giving you the flexibility to adjust the angle for better grip and reach—ideal when working behind appliances, under cabinets, or in confined areas where traditional screwdrivers struggle.
- Spindle Lock Function: When precise manual control is needed, simply engage the spindle lock to drive screws by hand without power. This feature is especially useful for final adjustments or when operating near sensitive electronics.
- Forward/Reverse Switch: Easily switch between driving screws in or removing them, providing full control during installation or repair work. No need to flip or reposition the tool—just toggle the switch for seamless direction changes.
- 3.6V Lithium-Ion Battery: Powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that maintains its charge for up to 18 months, ensuring the screwdriver remains ready for use even after long periods of storage. There’s no priming required, and recharging is quick and efficient.

Benefits & Use Cases
This electric screwdriver excels in environments where precision, portability, and convenience are key. It’s particularly well-suited for homeowners, renters, or anyone who occasionally tackles light-duty projects without needing a heavy-duty drill. The 180 RPM motor provides steady torque that’s sufficient for most small screws found in furniture assembly, picture hanging, or cabinet installation—without risking over-tightening or stripping delicate threads.
One of the standout advantages is the lithium-ion battery, which not only powers the tool efficiently but also holds its charge remarkably well over time. Unlike traditional batteries that lose power quickly, this screwdriver can sit on a shelf for nearly a year and still be ready to go. This makes it an excellent choice for seasonal tasks or emergency fixes when you don’t want to worry about frequent recharging.
The pivoting handle enhances maneuverability, allowing users to angle the tool comfortably in tight spots where a straight grip would be impossible. Combined with the forward/reverse switch, this feature ensures smooth operation whether you’re installing or removing fasteners. And because it includes two hex shank bits and a dedicated charger, there’s no guesswork—everything you need is included from the start.
Customers consistently praise the tool for its ease of use, reliability, and value for money. Many describe it as a dependable addition to their toolkit, ideal for quick jobs that don’t require professional-grade equipment. It’s also noted for being quiet, lightweight, and easy to store thanks to its compact size.
Important Notes
While the BLACK+DECKER Electric Screwdriver performs excellently for light-duty applications, it is not intended for heavy-duty tasks such as drilling into concrete, driving large wood screws, or prolonged use in demanding workshop environments. Always ensure the forward/reverse switch is set to the correct position before activating the tool to avoid unintended screw removal or jamming.
The included charger enables fast recharging between uses, and the lithium-ion battery requires no memory effect or periodic deep discharges—simply plug it in when needed. For optimal longevity, store the screwdriver in a cool, dry place and avoid leaving the battery fully depleted for extended periods.
This product comes with a standard manufacturer warranty; specific terms and coverage details may vary and should be verified via packaging or official documentation. Always follow safety guidelines and avoid forcing the tool beyond its rated capacity to prevent damage or injury.

This little guy? We definitely talk about this little guy…
Firstly, I hate mindless drones giving anything that turns on a 5…and at the same time I detest those who give anything that isn’t their favorite color a one star. With that typed, this thing delivers…Appearance – 2/5. Its black and orange, which might not be anyone’s favorite colour scheme, but that’s not why we buy tools, so we press on.Ease of use 5/5 – It delivers when it comes to ergonomics and mobility. At first you might think the top operated button is clunky, till you actually start drilling and it all becomes rather unexpectedly easy. It might not look pretty, but it functions perfectly for the duty at hand. From cabinets , doors to drawers, its the right size and angle (pivot handle) for the small tasks. Now keep in mind this isn’t a Dewalt power drill with 2000 rpm…its a small drill for menial tasks, so don’t expect a wall drilling monster.Battery life 5/5 – Was drilling doorknobs, cabinets, a desk (legs), and a desk drawer for more than 5+ hours on one charge. This little guy delivers, really made that 4 star turn into a 5.The cons – It doesn’t have a light, the battery is internal, and it has no trigger per say (again its at the top). Which some might find weird, but I got used to it immediately. Again, this could be a strong 4, due to how much it can take and how much I threw at it without overheating or breaking. But that battery life is the real MVP, I don’t normally give 5’s especially with tools, but B&D delivered here.

Low cost, low torque power screwdriver
I used to have a Skil power screwdriver (actually two of them) that I used quite frequently. They were handy for disassembling electronics and other items that are held together with a billion screws, and their limited torque helped prevent stripping out threads. The Skils gave up the ghost, or at least their batteries did, and I never bothered to replace them. I wasn’t really fixing a lot of electronic stuff so I hadn’t missed them much. Well, that was until recently when I had to disassemble/reassemble a laptop a half-dozen times to diagnose and fix a trackpad issue. I started to really miss the old power screwdriver, so I bought this. This is not a high-end tool, and that’s OK. It’s designed to be an inexpensive way to avoid having to turn screws by hand. I don’t expect it to survive in an electrician’s toolbag or a mechanic’s shop, but for casual use it’s perfect. I keep it charged and ready to go along with a bit holder and an assortment of bits (Philips, Torx, hex, etc.).My only nitpick is that it’s slow. I’ve been spoiled by impact drivers that can run a screw out in a second flat. You have to be really careful using them on any screws threaded into plastic because it’s easy to do some serious damage, but that speed is nice. This driver is stirring molasses by comparison. But that’s a minor concern unless you’re using it in a production environment, in which case you’d probably want something better anyhow. The purpose of this driver is to automate the repetitive motion of screwing or unscrewing, and it does that very well. At this price, I wouldn’t be without it even though I use it sparingly.

It is what it is for $20 and worth it.(It just went to$17.)
ADDENDUM: 8/6/2018.I just had to come back and up this to 5 stars; 6 if I could! The more I use it, the more I like it. I refinished my kitchen cabinets and used this on all of the hinges – perhaps 40 hinges X 6 screws each(?). It performed flawlessly through each day without needing a recharge and, held torque and speed the whole time. To be honest, I was surprised at just how well it performed. This is unbeatable for the money.END OF UPDATEI read some of the reviews before I bought this, especially the 1 and 2 star reviews. But, after a couple of 4 and 5 star reviews, I decided to try it out.OK; it is definitely a light duty tool but, that is expected. After all it is $20.00 not $120.00. One of the complaints was that it didn’t drill very well(?). It most definitely is NOT a drill. It doesn’t claim to be a drill so I was surprised at the reviewers expectations. Another was that it didn’t have much torque or power. That is also true but, that is why it has a lock setting for breaking loose and snugging up the screws by hand. The very big advantage it gives is speed and continuity. That is, not needing to re-position your hand every quarter turn and possibly loosing contact with the screw head and dropping the screw because you were using your other hand to hold the pieces in position etc., etc. There were also complaints about the battery not holding a charge or, in a couple cases, not charging at all. I would suspect one of two things here. One is that the reviewer didn’t read the instructions and fully charge it properly the first time and, the other is they just got a defective product. That’s why Amazon has a great return/exchange policy. I’ve had to use it unfortunately and all was made right. The one complaint I completely agree with, and the reason for only 4 stars, is the location of the power switch and the awkward way it operates. However, this is not a big problem to overcome. In short; it is what it is and, there is no reason to fault it for not being a full size drill/driver tool. If you want to drill and drive torque and power, get a rechargeable hand drill, not a cordless screwdriver.

This B&D product is a replacement for my 25 year old version. The new one is as good as the old with advantage of the 3 selectable positions. There are possibly better versions of these drivers on the market ( at a much higher price) but this model is perfectly adequate for everyday home use.The only problem with the item is that it is now a US import and the battery charger is fitted with a composite US charger / electricity plug. However a standard US to UK adaptor works fine.

Arrived ahead of schedule and as described. Compact, versatile, robust construction and the battery lasts long enough for all the small jobs I needed plus other situations I hadn’t considered. Great value.
