Minimalist but Functional
(Please excuse the mess that is my kitchen, thatâs not what this is about ð)I was considering getting new knives because Iâve had mine for a few years and they were getting dull and the coloring was chipping off which I thought probably wasnât safe to keep using. I was really surprised by how sharp these knives were! Theyâre really easy to cut with, I love that it comes with a few paring knives since I cut a lot of fruit and itâs annoying when a knife is in the middle of a wash. Theyâre dishwasher safe which is a big plus for me since I feel safer using things that have been disinfected by the heat in the dishwasher. Something I would like to note is the holder it comes with. What I really like about this is that the knives donât have a designated spot like a wooden stand would. Itâs just several slots that you can stick any knife in. Itâs not hard to tell which knife youâre reaching for since thereâs really only a big one, a bread knife, and paring knives. It also has enough room to store some older knives as well which is great because it means I can keep them all in one place instead of having several holders or looking in drawers. I was worried I wouldnât like the wooden handles but theyâre not scratchy. Theyâre actually quite smooth and have a nice hand feel. Iâve had no issue using these so far and I cut a lot of chicken and fruits. I canât think of any reason not to go for these honestly!

Good starter knives
This is a decent knife set but nothing particularly fancy from a technical sense. The CAROTE set looks modern and pretty, visually hitting a certain aesthetic and would make a great gift for those setting up a kitchen for the first time and want to stop using mis-matched stuff.It covers the basics – bread , chef , utility, and paring knives with a “place anywhere” slotted knife block. They have slightly rubberized, wooden-looking, round handles and have ceramic coating on the blades to help them be non-stick. The weight is on the lighter side for all the knives, with the scissors being so light they feel a little cheap, but the blades don’t bend. They cut fine out of the box so these are ready to go. The block is all plastic and quite light, making it a little top heavy when all the knives are upright in it, though not dangerously so. The knives fit snug enough once inserted.These are good looking and decent for cooking, but I’m at the point where my needs have swung to heavier knives and a larger selection. This is the knife set I would have liked when I was new to cooking and much less confident in my skills but wanted to not have the thrift store look. The price point is fantastic. Keep these in mind for back to college days for the fledgling young adult.

Good Knife Set
Great set of knives and comes with a pair of scissors too! The knives themselves were pretty sharp and have a decent quality to them. The tip of the biggest knife though was slightly bent but no big deal was able to bend it back to place. I’m docking one star though for the the knife holder. It feels a little too flimsy and cheap and in some cases it seems it may tip over at times. It doesn’t hold the knives as secure as I would like as well. Overall a decent knife set l.

All the knife sets Iâve seen come in those massive wood blocks and they have several knives I never ever use. How nice to have a set thatâs more modern looking and doesnât take up my counter space, which I have very little of.Turns out, this set has the exact knives I actually use a lot: a bread knife a small and medium utility knife and a kitchen shears, all in a sleek round holder. I like the colors of the holder and of the knives – they look nice on my counter and on my table, where I like to keep it because thatâs where I sit to cut things up.The knives are good quality and very sharp (be careful!) Iâve had Carote brand kitchen things before and Iâve been satisfied with them. They seem to hold up better than other brands.I live alone so I use the small utility knife as my steak knife. In fact, this is the ideal set for one or two people. Itâd make a nice gift for someone moving into an apartment.

These are pretty
They are pretty for knives. They came really well packaged for safety when opening and transporting them. I wouldâve like a larger set with more knives but you get the basics and a pair of scissors, so really you have everything you need. The handles are this silky soft feeling material, which is nice. They are comfortable to hold and they are each a good size. I probably wonât use the holder it came with, but maybe. I just bought another utensil holder Iâm obsessed with so who knows. Regardless, itâs a nice quality and size. The concept is cool, I like that the knives wonât be rubbing up against the sides or the other knives and it has a special place for the scissors. The plastic doesnât seem the highest quality, but certainly higher quality than a lot of things Iâve bought over the years, so no telling how they will hold up long term. Overall Iâm happy with them.
