Benefits & Use Cases

These poly pellets are specifically designed to add structural integrity and realistic positioning to soft crafts. Whether you’re creating a custom teddy bear that sits upright, crafting a weighted blanket that offers gentle support, or filling a bean bag for playtime, the uniform weight of the pellets ensures balanced distribution. Educators appreciate their use in preschool and elementary sensory tables, where they enhance tactile learning through seek-and-find games. Crafters value the clean appearance and ease of shaping, knowing the pellets won’t break down or compress unevenly. Because the pellets are washable only after being sealed inside a project, they remain hygienic and low-maintenance once used, offering peace of mind in home and classroom environments.

Important Notes

The product is intended for decorative and craft purposes. While the poly pellets are safe and non-toxic, they should only be washed after being fully enclosed in a finished item to preserve their cleanliness and prevent contamination. Individual preferences may vary regarding pellet size, as some users note differences in texture and flow compared to other brands. This 32-ounce bag provides ample volume for multiple projects and offers good value due to its consistent quality and performance.

Creative Applications and Project Ideas

Fairfield Poly-Fil Poly-Pellets open up a wide range of possibilities for imaginative and practical crafting. For toy makers, these pellets are ideal for bringing handmade plush animals to life—giving them the weight and posture needed to stand or sit naturally. Whether you’re sewing a new teddy bear, designing a fantasy creature, or creating educational puppets, the uniform oval shape ensures even distribution without lumps or shifts. The smooth edges also make them comfortable to touch, which is especially important for items intended for children.

In classroom settings, these poly pellets shine during sensory play and interactive learning activities. Teachers and therapists often use them in sensory tables to develop fine motor skills, encourage exploration, and support focus during quiet time. Seek-n-find games become more engaging when hidden objects are placed beneath the pellets, inviting students to dig and discover while improving hand-eye coordination. Because the pellets don’t absorb liquids or retain odors, they remain clean between uses—making them a practical addition to early childhood education programs.

For those working on therapeutic or comfort-related projects, such as DIY weighted lap pads or custom bean bags, Fairfield Poly-Fil provides a dependable filling solution. The 32-ounce quantity allows for generous fills without overwhelming smaller items, and because the pellets hold their shape over time, your creations maintain their supportive qualities through repeated use. Parents and caregivers will find these pellets particularly useful for making personalized weighted items for kids with sensory needs, offering a natural, chemical-free alternative to synthetic fillers.

Safety and Maintenance Guidelines

Fairfield Poly-Fil Poly-Pellets are formulated with safety in mind, especially for use in environments involving children. As with any crafting material, supervision is recommended during initial handling, but once incorporated into a finished piece, the risk of accidental ingestion or exposure is minimized. The instruction to wash only after sealing is an important safety measure—it prevents direct contact with moisture, dust, or potential contaminants that could compromise hygiene.

This requirement also helps maintain the integrity of your craft. Since the pellets aren’t meant to be laundered independently, enclosing them completely protects both the filler and the outer fabric from wear and tear. Most crafters find this process straightforward: simply stitch or glue the opening securely after filling, then follow standard care instructions for the finished product. For washable items like cloth books or stuffed animals, machine washing on a gentle cycle usually preserves both the fabric and the internal fill.

It’s worth noting that while opinions on pellet size can vary among users, many report satisfaction with the balance between flowability and stability. Some prefer slightly larger beads for slower movement, while others favor finer textures for smoother fills. Regardless of preference, Fairfield Poly-Fil delivers a consistent base that works well across different project types and skill levels.

    Good for weighted plushies
Good, fairly regular bead size- you won’t have issues with any particular bead being too big or too small compared to the others. Good weight to them, but not so heavy that they’d rip fabric. Good texture for going into stuffed animals. Great for any project where you need to add a little extra weight somewhere.

    great product
I use these pellets to stuff pin cushions. They weight down the pin cushion and allow the pins to pierce the cushion. They are wonderful.

Great product and I used them on range bags. My only mistake was only buying one bag. I will order 2 more and should have some left over.

Perfect for rifle range rest bags
They have a little weight to them which is very nice compared to beanbag foam beads. I have purchased 2 bags so far.

Lots of pellets, and great re-closable spout.
First, if you are filling haki sacks, this is a LOT of poly pellets.I have never even seen a haki sack before, so on general instructions… an amigurumi ball, I crocheted 6 of them about 2″ across. Filling them was not hard, but not knowing how much to fill them is a pistol. I found that 1/3 full is right for sand, but not how much is good for pellets. I went with 2/3 full, and that is about 1/8 of a cup, or .57 oz by weight. In other words, I could fill over 40 haki sacks with this bag! I hope they do not get squished much, because hitting them around is okay but any squishing makes the pellets come out through the stitches. I tried putting a sock into the bag and then filling it, but there is more sock that pellets and that doesn’t work.I do like the pour spout. I didn’t even notice it in the description. It makes getting the excess back in the bag super easy, and no spilled bag to worry about. The rest will probably go into little Christmas gnomes and elves instead of using rice in them. You do get your full value with this bag of pellets. Let the crafts begin!
