Benefits & Use Cases
This multifunctional toaster oven simplifies everyday cooking by consolidating multiple appliances into one compact unit. The convection function ensures even heat distribution—ideal for baking cakes with consistent rise or roasting root vegetables until caramelized. Users particularly value the proof mode, which gently warms dough to help it rise safely without risk of burning. The keep warm feature keeps dishes at serving temperature during parties or when waiting to eat as a group. With its large interior, you can prepare entire meals at once: bake a casserole while simultaneously air frying sides or reheating leftovers. The combination of digital accuracy and generous capacity makes it suitable for everything from weekday dinners to holiday feasts.
Many customers praise the simplicity of the controls and overall ease of use, noting that setup is straightforward and operation feels responsive. The inclusion of essential accessories means no extra purchases are needed to start cooking immediately. For those focused on health-conscious eating, the air fry option provides guilt-free versions of beloved comfort foods without sacrificing texture or flavor. Whether you’re cooking solo or feeding a crowd, this oven adapts to your needs without taking over your kitchen.
Important Notes
While most users find the design practical and performance reliable for daily tasks, some have reported concerns about knob durability after extended use—specifically mentioning issues with knobs breaking or stripping under frequent turning. Heat distribution may vary slightly depending on where items are placed inside the cavity; placing food toward the center yields more consistent results. Cleaning is simplified thanks to the removable crumb tray and non-stick baking pan, though regular wiping and periodic deep cleaning are recommended to maintain hygiene and extend appliance life. Always allow the unit to cool completely before handling accessories or cleaning surfaces. This product includes only the main toaster oven, baking pan, and crumb tray—no additional accessories are required for standard use.

Finding this GE Mechancial Option was a dream come true for my mid-century kitchen
I have a mid-century house and have decorated my kitchen accordingly so a digital display oven/air fryer would have just ruined the look. I almost couldn’t believe my eyes when I found this mechanical control GE unit.Another big problem that ruins so many modern appliances is wildly oversized, ugly logos, I’m thrilled with a tastefully sized classic GE “meatball” logo that enhances rather than detracts from the design. This unit looks perfect on top of vintage serving cart.Besides being beautiful and fitting into my decor, the oven works great too, temperatures are accurate and the timer is accurate. The mechanical option also comes into play with making the appliance blissfully easy to use too, just three knobs to set, the function (bake, toast, air fry, etc.), the desired temperature, and the time. No tedious menus to fumble through or learning curve whatsoever! And unlike many ovens like this, the toast function actually toasts things as fast as a toaster.I love this oven!UPDATE – A frequent complaint of air-fryers is the noise, but air fry function on this oven barely makes any noise. You do hear the whir of the fan when it’s on, but it’s low enough that you can easily carry on a conversation in normal tones, listen to music or TV. For comparison, my old B&D convection toaster oven was much noisier when baking than the GE is when air-frying! Impressive. When using other features you barely hear anything, just the gentle, barely audible ticking of the manual timer (which I like). GE really though of everything when designing this oven, it’s a pleasure all around to use.

Some differences between the manual control model and the digital model
I just got my countertop oven today and between reading the manual, doing a little research (including reading reviews and Q&As), and taking a test drive, I’ve answered most of my own questions.Regarding number of modes – the digital model has one more mode than the manual model: you can proof yeast dough in the digital model but not the manual one. Some people would never use that setting but since gas ovens don’t have pilot lights anymore, anyone who bakes with yeast might welcome that extra setting.Regarding preheating – the digital model does display an indicator for when the oven is preheating. Annoyingly, the timer starts ticking down before the oven reaches temp, which shortens the selected cooking time. For example if you want to bake for 30 minutes and set the timer at 30, it will have timed down to something like 26 minutes before it reaches operating temp. You’ll have to set it back up to 30 when you put whatever you’re cooking in the oven. The manual model apparently doesn’t let you know when the selected temp has been reached.I was puzzled by the fact that the manual control model was less expensive than the digital model, but today is see that the price of the manual model has been reduced such that it’s now less expensive than the digital model.I haven’t actually used one of the manual control models but the toaster oven I’m replacing with the digital model had the same 3 knobs, and it was very intuitive. The digital model requires turning AND push-clicking two knobs, and there’s a separate start/stop button. So the digital model takes some getting used to, and it’s less than perfect, but it does provide some extra functionality, so I’m not sorry I got it.This one’s pretty obvious, but based on comments, the manual model has a mechanical timer. If you find the ticking of the timer to be an annoyance, you might like the digital model with the (silent) electronic timer.I’ve seen reviews where people said the ovens are too small and others that say they’re too big. I think the ovens are about right for a countertop appliance. The sides, front, and top are double-walled which makes the outside of the box much bigger than the inside, but saves energy and moderates surface temps (the back and bottom are single-wall but there are bumpers in the back to keep the appliance away from the kitchen wall). So it’s a very reasonable compromise, IMO.Honestly, I think it was a mistake to list these two items as one. The item description, the Q&As and the ratings lump everything together so it’s nearly impossible to know what’s what. Even so, I think these ovens are versatile, well-designed, attractive, and fairly easy to use. There are pros and cons between the two variations but most people can’t go wrong with either one.

timer knob revisited — a remedy!
and an update: did hear from GE but in the meantime I found an ever so easy fix and am happily baking, roasting, air frying, and toasting and warming.a replacement knob: ordered from Amazon: TJPoto Replacement Part Timer knob Air Fryer HF-919B D Type Shaft; within 2 minutes of its arrival my GE oven was operational without the handy pliers to set the timer.Oven is a delight to use and easy to clean. Price is reasonable. If the timer knob is your concern, there are universal replacement knobs out there evnn more inexpensive than the one I purchased.Loved this appliance for 3 months, when the timer knob came off and could not be reattached. The on and off function is controlled by the timer knob: if it does not work, the oven does not work. Even more distressing is that that GE did not respond to any email requests for assistance despite there being a warranty. I have ordered a universal toaster oven knob “d” style (as it is on this GE oven) and am guardedly hopeful.Nonetheless– not even a “thank you for your email and we will be in touch soon” from GE. Very disappointing.

This toaster oven is high quality and the perfect size. Because it has mechanical controls, you don’t have to push a series of buttons every time you use it. I use the same settings every time, so I never have to adjust the controls. I simply turn the timer knob clockwise to start cooking- literally one operation to get things started. The timer has a faint clicking sound and a there is a white jewel light which lets you know the oven is on. When cooking is complete, a pleasant chime sounds once and cooking stops. It has a hiqh-quality front door and the shelves are great. It looks classy with a brushed aluminum appearance. It operates without any surprises.
