Product Overview

The GE GCST10A1WSS 4-in-1 Microwave Oven redefines what a countertop appliance can do. Engineered for efficiency and versatility, this 1,050-watt microwave combines four essential cooking functions—microwave, air fry, convection, and broil—into one sleek stainless steel design. With a 1.0 cubic foot interior, it offers ample space for everyday meals without taking up valuable kitchen or dorm room real estate. Whether you’re reheating leftovers, baking a homemade pizza, air frying crispy fries, or broiling a cheese-topped dish, this compact powerhouse delivers professional-style results with minimal effort.

Key Features

  • TWO-STEP CHILD LOCK: A thoughtful safety feature that prevents accidental operation by children. When activated, the control panel becomes temporarily disabled, giving parents peace of mind in homes with young kids. The lock can be easily deactivated when not needed, ensuring flexibility without compromising security.
  • AIR FRY MODE: Built-in air fryer technology allows you to enjoy crispy, golden foods like French fries, chicken nuggets, and roasted vegetables using significantly less oil than traditional frying methods. This promotes healthier eating while still delivering the satisfying crunch your family craves—all within minutes.
  • CONVECTION MODE: Achieve bakery-quality browning and even cooking with convection heating. A special rack inside circulates hot air around food, simulating the effect of a full-sized oven. Perfect for baking cookies, roasting chicken, or reheating casseroles with a perfectly crisp exterior.
  • BROIL MODE: Get grill-like searing and caramelization right from your countertop. Broil mode radiates high heat upward onto food, ideal for melting cheese on nachos, browning the top of mac and cheese, or adding that final touch of char to grilled meats and vegetables.
  • PRESET CONTROLS: Simplify meal prep with optimized settings for common items like frozen fries and nuggets. These presets automatically adjust time and power levels to ensure consistent, restaurant-quality results every time—no guesswork required.
  • COMMERCIAL-STYLE STAINLESS STEEL DESIGN: Sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless steel finish complements modern kitchens, offices, and dorm rooms. Its durable construction resists smudges and is easy to wipe clean, maintaining a polished look with minimal maintenance.

Technical Specifications

  • Capacity: 1.0 cubic feet
  • Power Output: 1,050 watts
  • Color & Model: Stainless Steel (GCST10A1WSS)
  • Safety Feature: Two-step child lock
  • Included Accessory: Stainless steel crisper pan (optimized for Air Fry mode)
  • Cooking Modes: Microwave, Air Fry, Convection, Broil
  • Defrost Options: Automatic (by weight) and manual (timer-based)

Benefits & Use Cases

This microwave is engineered for life on the go—whether you’re a college student in a dorm, a remote worker with limited kitchen access, or someone living in a small apartment where every inch counts. Its compact footprint fits comfortably on standard countertops, yet its 1.0 cu. ft. interior accommodates a full dinner plate, two slices of pizza, or even a medium-sized baked potato.

The integration of multiple cooking technologies eliminates the need for several single-purpose appliances. Instead of owning separate units for microwaving, air frying, baking, and broiling, the GE GCST10A1WSS consolidates them into one efficient system. Reheat last night’s pasta quickly using microwave mode. Bake a batch of brownies using convection. Crisp up some sweet potato fries with air fry mode. Or broil a grilled cheese sandwich until golden and bubbly—all without switching appliances or rearranging your kitchen.

Preset controls like “Fries” and “Nuggets” are especially useful for quick meals or snacks. Simply load the food, select the preset, and press start. The microwave handles the rest, delivering evenly cooked results without overdone edges or undercooked centers. Automatic defrosting lets you thaw meat, poultry, or seafood safely based on weight, while the manual timer option gives you full control for irregularly shaped items.

For families, the two-step child lock adds an extra layer of safety during busy mornings or evening prep times. It’s simple to activate and disable, so it doesn’t interfere with normal use but remains ready when supervision is needed.

Important Notes

The included stainless steel crisper pan is specifically designed for optimal performance in Air Fry mode. Always use this pan as directed to ensure proper airflow and prevent damage to the microwave cavity or internal components.

While the child lock enhances safety, it must be manually enabled by the user. It does not engage automatically upon startup or after periods of inactivity.

Automatic defrost works best for uniformly shaped, standard portions. For larger cuts of meat or oddly shaped frozen items, manual timer defrosting may provide more precise results.

The package includes only the microwave oven and the crisper pan. No additional accessories such as racks, trays, or instruction manuals are confirmed as included in the provided details.

    WOW! New World for Cooking
We killed our other microwave last month. I had toyed with getting an air fryer but we don’t have much counter space.Enter the AirFry/Microwave combos. I grabbed this one because of the many things it does and the many fine reviews. It measures up to all its tasks. The microwave function itself has come a long way. So even cooking and quiet. Love that the turntable is connected to a piece that is attached to the bottom. No more having the turntable flopping off until you get it lined up with those little nubs. It has less power than our previous microwave but it cooks faster and much more evenly.I just tried the air fry setting and it is a new world.. Perhaps all of them cook chicken breast pieces to this level of tenderness but I was amazed at the flavor and how crisp they were after 5 minutes.I have not tried the broil feature yet nor have I tried toast. That heat element does work with the air fryer so I will assume it has those things well. I guess since it has the brroiler feature that that is why it has the extra insulation. Very easy to clean after it has been on. One good surprise after another. Quiet and competent. The only thing I would have liked would have been some kind of manual to use if you have never done convection or air fry. I would also add what others have added: the controls are a bit hard to see. I will write them up and tape them somewhere on the side.Other than that I am very happy with the price and the performance as well as the size for what it holds. It is a keeper.

    Good microwave
So far it works very well as a microwave. Pretty easy clean up not like our old GE convection/Microwave combo. It is smaller than what we’re used to, less wide and not as tall/high. The noise level is about the same, the glass plate stays in place, food heats up really well, maybe because it’s smaller(?) I can see the same problem as our old one with the light. It is very difficult to change the bulb when it burns out. Otherwise, for the price it’s a good value.Convection works well, should use lower temperature to bake since food browned before cooked through. First time baking had a funny smell after that it seemed ok.Happy with purchase.

    Great for small spaces
I needed to replace my old microwave, and in comparing features and prices I came cross this model. Not only did it tick all the boxes (easy to use, good features & reviews), it also works as an air fryer and convection oven. I don’t have a big kitchen, so having a micro with all these features was a plus. The manufacturer website linked on Amazon had great videos and explanations on how to use the oven, too. This microwave is compact and sleek. The microwave works well, and I finally got the courage to try the air fryer feature and it was great. This oven comes with two racks and a no-stick pan. Another reviewer remarked that the control pad is not backlit, making it necessary to use your phone light if it’s dark. I have to agree. Backlighting that pad would make this a perfect review. Otherwise, this is well-made and has great features.

Worth it once all is well.
I have now only had a fully formed one of these for about 16 hours after a week of …a lot of dumb. The one piece important item to pass on to you from that is to verify the mica heatwave guard is intact on the right of the machine. Be careful and do not tear it. Why?-Ge does not make the part for it. They’ll talk about ordering another size you can cut down but won’t verify it’s the same material.- They’ll also say you can use it without this guard, but don’t do this without research first. What I’ve found is this little piece of mica paper protects your machine and makes it last exponentially longer.- They’ll say 3rd party will negate the warranty while recommending you run it without.- Their CSRs are actually quite nice. It’s just the company policy is terrible.(My opinion on this is anger. A whole microwave should not be trashed due to a piece that’s built to be replaced….)I digress. Yea, I’ve only had it for 16 hours but I’ve run its paces to make sure nothing else is wrong. (I’ve been through a number of these now due to missing or damaged parts. Fyi: I was doing open box excellent/like new from all companies I was working with so I would not assume this is a base issue with GE but an issue with returned items not receiving a proper inspection for damage or missing items.)Now. Finally, what I think of it.Yall, I’ve never spent more than $50 on a Microwave. Granted, the original one I spent $50 would be more lile $100 now due to inflation but still. Considering you can buy a decent airfryer or convection toaster oven for under $100… this product is still more money…BUT as long as it is large enough for you (you can look up specs and the full user manual on GEs website…The full manual teaching you how to use it does not come in the box. It only gives you SOME direction. )It’s worth it.Why? I now have ONE device instead of three. It lives up to it’s name. For those of us that have tiny/efficiency kitchens this is HUGE. This alone makes it worth its weight in gold.It works. The baking function works. The air fry function works…and I’ve never had or used anyone else’s microwave where the popcorn function didn’t under or overcook popcorn….Even IT worksYes, the buttons are not lit …so place it at eye height, somewhere well lit…or get one of those USB strip lights to mount next to it. But tbh… 300 more for lit buttons (based on reading reviews of other similar products) just doesn’t cut it. There’s some great videos out there comparing different 3 in 1s and I feel like this one is being underserved for the more expensive ones. Which I’d hope for 150% price increase to be… 150% better… but I’m unsure what this thing would have to do better for that to be the case. (Other than needing a larger oven.)All in all…even if you struggle financially if you can find a way to squeeze it… do it.Potentially buy a warranty for it if that’s the case? They’re fairly cheap for a 2 year… I did.For GE if you need to warranty through them it’s a 6 to 8 week process. Yike. Idk about y’all but I can’t be without my main cooking source for that long. I purchased from Best Buy in the end (while at one point I had purchased from Amazon) and their warrenty was like…$25. Worth. It.And final note on the mica boards: I bet 3rd party mica boards are fine for some day when mines old and yucked to simthereens…. and then I’ll use one of those to keep this thing going as it’ll likely be well beyond warranty by that point. If you’re having trouble with your microwave definitely look in to these items instead of replacing your microwave… but if you want to replace it. Consider this.

    Great microwave
The first one we received was a non-starter, microwave function never heated up. Amazon sent a replacement next day, and all good. I’m very happy with the size, the functionality, everything about this versatile microwave. I wish there was a way to silence or quiet the beeping, but it seems they didn’t build that functionality into this model.
