Fantastic upgrade for our home.
This Smart Front Door Lock Handle Set is a fantastic upgrade for our home. It offers multiple lock/unlock options, including fingerprint, keypad, IC Card, and an app.Installation was easy as all of the needed hardware was included. You have to download the app and connect via Bluetooth to set up the lock, especially for the door swing. This handle set does come with 2 keys and 2 IC Cards. I couldn’t get the finger print to work correctly so I will just stick with the passcode and IC Card method of entry.

Secure smart lock
I really do like this smart lock! This is my fourth Hornbill smart lock and all four have been excellent. This fingerprint reader works just like on a phone – it is easy to register new fingerprints and the door unlocks quickly after your print has been scanned. I haven’t had any mis-reads by the fingerprint reader. If there is an issue with the fingerprint sensor, you can use one of the backup methods to open the lock. The installation is so simple a child could do it! The materials feel like they are good quality and I would expect this lock to last many years even in the hot sun and harsh winter conditions.

Im old school so …..
I am in my 60s so I really have a hard time accepting technology for what is is. I get it that it has multiple methods to unlock it. So if technology fails you can always just resort back to the standard good old fashioned KEY method that has worked flawlessly for the last couple of centuries. With that said,You can loch it remotely with your app. And unlock it too. It has smart phone integration so you can connect with bluetooth or wi-fi to control access or monitor call logs. I like the oil rubbed bronze finish, it looks highly sophisticated. The instructions are detailed and easy to understand.Long battery life, with low power alert. I guess it does make your home more secure and you can issue temporary codes to give family and guests access if your not at home which is convenient. I think I will grow to love its when I get used to the idea. 5 stars~! *****

So Nice!
This handle set is amazing! So secure AND convenient! Functions just as it should and was easy to install and set up. Looks so nice as well! This is a keyless option and comes with two cards to grant access or you can set a passcode to get in. Way easier than messing with keys! Great product, worth the value !

Super Happy
So I’ve been eyeballing a smart lock for a while now and when this one popped up, I had to grab it. I really wanted something that worked with multiple ways to open, preferably fingerprint and code, anything else was just going to be extra. We also have a door and handle on our existing front door with the long handleset, so finding something to replace that handle was a bit of a trick. Don’t get me wrong, there’s loads of options but they’re expensive. Recently priced one out at about $250, deadbolt, handle and all the fixins but it only had a keypad, I had to buy a separate gateway to enable the online options, and it had some mediocre reviews. So this one seemed to hit everything I wanted, but I still needed to get a gateway. Fingerprint, code, transferable keys, RFID Card, it was the right color (made the wife happy) and the secondary gateway wasn’t stupidly expensive. So I clicked send and waited.Unboxing was nice, the parts and pieces all seemed very robust and well made, instructions were very detailed but straighforward and it looked like I wasn’t going to need to drill out anything new or make any adjustments since the lower handle looked like it was the same size as my existing one. This even came with a template to compare to all your existing hardware so you can see if everything will line up properly without having to remove anything. Thought that was a nice touch.Installation was straightforward but I didn’t use some of the parts. The screws for example didn’t impress me so when I replaced the strikeplates I used the same 3″ screws I had used before and they almost lined up perfectly on the deadbolt plate, but not quite, so I reused my old strike plate. The lower plate wasn’t even close for some reason even though everything else lined up so I had to lower it about an eight of an inch which isn’t a huge deal and it’s only noticeable if you look closely.Once I started fitting things in place, two things stood out. FIrst the deadbolt on this goes into the frame about a half inch further than my existing deadbolt. I had to make some adjustments but it was easy. The lower strike plate took several adjustments to get the door to close properly because the motor that drives the deadbolt must have free passage of the deadbolt itself. If there’s any resistance at all it won’t set properly, so getting the lower handle strike plate aligned properly so the door closes fully is super critical. I probably made about 5-6 adjustments overall to get the plate right so the door would close properly and the deadbolt traveled freely. That was probably the most difficult part of the installation but also the most important.Once everything was lined up, the lower handle was off just a bit so I had to drill a new lower hole literally touching the previous hole. Thankfully they include a nice ring that sits on the inside of the door where the screw goes into the lower part of the handle so it covered up the old hole and still held nicely.Once everything was in and functioning, I followed the instructions to set up everything in the app and found no issues at all. I used the Next app on an iphone and setting up everything was a snap. Setting up the fingerprint ID is very similar to setting up a fingerprint on a phone, several touches and it eventually accepts it. Others have mentioned that the fingerprint scanner is finicky, I’ve found that not to be the case at all. It opens very quickly which is awesome as far as I’m concerned.Next step was to set up the gateway to enable online use and Alexa, which was also a snap. Alexa enabling took some fiddling but it’s for security reasons. With the Alexa skill you can lock the door easily but they make you jump through some hoops to enable unlocking which I’m fine with and appreciate that there’s some security steps. After making sure everything was all good, I set up the two tiny RFID cards that come with the lock. I don’t know that I’ll ever use them but I put one in the hidden key box we have out in our yard so I guess that has some use. Nice again that there are multiple options. I also enabled the autolock function so the door automatically locks after 60 seconds once the door is closed. Pretty handy, never have to wonder if I locked the door. I also get push notifications when someone unlocks the door, which combined with our doorbell cam gives me plenty of ability to see what’s happening, or to manually unlock the door for the boomer parents that can’t figure out how to key in a number on the pad.Speaking of which, like most locks you have to wake up the keypad to actually key in a number, so that was a dealbreaker for the boomers. They never did get it so I just put in their fingerprint instead. The lock itself has voice prompts for everything in a clear female voice, the keypad has clicks that sound like water drops, and the app sends notifications for everything if you want or nothing if you want. Many of the other available options in the app are gated through microtransactions which put me off a bit, but honestly those functions aren’t really anything I wanted, but if you want text messages or emails or emergency codes and things like that you can get them, just have to pay a bit for it. You also have to pay for a push alert that the batteries are low which seems a bit much, but the battery level is readily visible as soon as you open the app. Since it takes 4 AA batteries, I don’t anticipate it will have any issues anytime soon.It has both rained and frozen here over the last week (midwest things) so they lock has been exposed to moisure and cold and it is working just as well as when I installed it. I forgot to mention I squirted a bit of WD40 on the lock mechanisms but even that wasn’t necessary as I found they were slimed pretty well with some sort of white grease.Overall couldn’t be happier. As I sit here opening and closing the door by voice command with Alexa, I’m feeling pretty good about this. If there were any complaints at all, it’s that the handle has a square base upper and lower, which replaced our old round base handles, so in the spring I’ll need to repaint the outer and inner part of the door, which is fine, it needs it anyway. I also wish the lower handle had a lock on it as well, but I understand why it doesn’t. That would be an additional expense figuring out how to link the lower handle and the deadbolt so for the cost and the value of this set, I have zero complaints. At some point I’ll have the lock rekeyed to our other external doors, but considering all the different ways there are to unlock this door, I don’t know if I need to bother honestly.

Hornbill Smart Front Door Lock Set
Attractive rubbed bronze lock and handle. Instructions for installation are good and only added one hole for handle. Connects with app for easy managing and use. Fingerprint works fine for me but my kids use a passcode. Has keys too if needed. Overall it looks good and works well so is valuable.

I installed everything, I noticed that the handle bolt had a plastic piece where the pin from the handle goes to the bolt, the following morning went to open the door and I eared a crack, at the point the door would not open, I was jailed inside my own house. I had to remove the inside handle to see that the plastic thing was crack. Tried several ways to get the door to open to no avail, I had to destroy the handle bolt in order to be able to get it out of there and finally opened the door. I live in Quebec, Canada and I guess – 20 C is not good for the plastic thing. I am gonna go to a locksmith to see if he can come up with a solution, if not I will be looking for a new door handle set. IMO the handle bolt is so damaged that I don’t think it qualifies for a refund, hence I have not contacted the seller

The hornbill Smart Front Door Lock Handle Set with Deadbolt is a fantastic upgrade for home security. It offers multiple access options, including fingerprint, keypad, keyfob, and app control with an optional add-on WiFi gateway. Installation is easy, as all the hardware is included. The striker plates are silver instead of black. You will need a rectangular counter-sunk latch for this lock to work. You also need the Smart Life app to connect via Bluetooth to activate and set up the lock for the door swing. Build quality looks good, the parts look to be of good quality. It has a good gasket to keep water out. Comes with 2 keys and 2 key fobs.
