Product Overview

The Kwikset Halo Touch Fingerprint Wi-Fi Smart Lock redefines home entry with a seamless blend of convenience, security, and smart technology. Designed for modern living, this low-profile deadbolt integrates advanced fingerprint recognition, built-in Wi-Fi, and voice control—all without requiring a separate hub. Whether you’re unlocking your door with a touch, using the Kwikset app from across town, or granting temporary access to trusted guests, the Halo Touch delivers effortless control over your front door. Backed by Grade AAA certification and a lifetime finish warranty, it’s engineered for both performance and durability. With its intuitive setup and compatibility with major voice assistants, this smart lock is ideal for homeowners seeking a reliable, future-ready entry solution.

Key Features

  • Fingerprint Unlock: Access your home quickly and securely by simply touching the reader with your finger. The sensor recognizes up to 100 unique fingerprints, making it easy to share access with family members, houseguests, or service providers without handing out physical keys.
  • Built-in Wi-Fi & No Hub Required: Unlike many smart locks that rely on third-party hubs, the Halo Touch connects directly to your home Wi-Fi network. This allows you to remotely lock or unlock your door, check status updates, and receive alerts from anywhere using the free Kwikset app.
  • Keyless Entry: Say goodbye to lost keys and bulky keychains. The Halo Touch offers multiple keyless entry methods: use the Kwikset mobile app, scan a fingerprint, or even control the lock via voice commands through compatible smart speakers like Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.
  • Real-Time Notifications: Stay informed about who comes and goes. The system sends instant push notifications whenever the door is locked or unlocked, including warnings if someone attempts unauthorized access—giving you peace of mind whether you’re at work, on vacation, or asleep at night.
  • Voice Control Compatibility: Manage your lock hands-free using voice commands. Ask your smart speaker to “lock the front door” or check recent activity logs—ideal for multitasking parents, individuals with limited mobility, or anyone who values convenience.
  • Easy Installation: No professional help needed. The guided setup process takes just minutes, requiring only a standard screwdriver. The lock fits most standard doors and replaces existing deadbolts without extensive modifications.
  • Grade AAA Certified Security: Meets ANSI/BHMA standards for residential security, ensuring robust protection against forced entry. The solid construction and advanced locking mechanism provide reliable defense for your home.

Benefits & Use Cases

The Kwikset Halo Touch is engineered for everyday convenience without compromising on safety. For busy families, the ability to grant temporary digital keys to caregivers, dog walkers, or delivery personnel enhances both security and flexibility. Parents love not having to worry about misplacing car keys or letting in last-minute playdates. The geofence auto-unlock feature (available via the app) can automatically unlock the door when your phone approaches—though users must manually enable this setting for privacy. Professionals appreciate the real-time activity logs, which show exactly when doors were accessed, adding an extra layer of oversight. The lock also supports remote management, so you can check if your door is locked before bedtime or while traveling. Its compatibility with voice assistants makes it accessible for seniors or people with dexterity challenges. Overall, the Halo Touch simplifies daily routines while maintaining strong security standards.

Important Notes

While the Kwikset Halo Touch offers impressive features, potential buyers should be aware of a few considerations. Battery life varies based on usage frequency—users report needing to replace batteries every six months to a year under normal conditions. Always keep spare batteries on hand, as the lock does not support wireless charging or backup power options. Fingerprint recognition may occasionally struggle with wet, dirty, or very dry fingers, though performance improves after initial setup. Some customers have noted concerns about long-term build quality and durability, particularly regarding internal components. It’s recommended to clean the fingerprint sensor regularly with a soft, dry cloth to maintain accuracy. The package includes the lock mechanism and mounting hardware, but installation may require additional screws or a strike plate depending on your door frame. Before purchasing, verify local building codes, as some municipalities regulate smart lock installations. Despite these caveats, the Halo Touch remains a top choice for those prioritizing ease of use and smart home integration.

    Easiest install and works perfect
Quality. For years I have been buying Kwikset and nothing else. I love the smart key. One key for all your locks! The process to re-key takes 10 seconds and is secure. Pure genius. This is my third powered auto smart lock for the front door. I had to get a keypad when my son was in school so he would be able to get in the house. No keys to lose! It wore out eventually and I got another keypad lock that was on the dead bolt instead of the door handle. Much better idea. And now this the Halo fingerprint lock. The Halo looks great and the motor is a lot smoother this time. Feels really well made.Fingerprint sensors are common now but people still have problems with them. Clean your hands. Wipe off the sweat. Be nice to your sensor. I use a Pixel phone so I know what a BAD fingerprint sensor is. My phone is hit or miss. This lock is not. It works every time. You see blue lights as it scans then green and it’s open. Simple.Timer. Yes. I set mine to 30 seconds. It’s always better to have your home locked then not in my opinion, and when the key is your finger why not? This is a no brainier. I know it’s extra wear and tear but it’s what it’s for. These things wear out over time no matter what anyway. I don’t mind replacing security every 5-8 years. Good investment.App. This company wants this to be easy and it shows they have their stuff together. Every step of the way they explain what we are doing and how long it will take. Even the parts boxes in the main box are numbered. Yes , numbered and they match the step number in the instructions. Well done! The app setup starts with a Bluetooth connection to your smartphone. You update all the lock software and run through a step by step process. You make an account and verify it with an email or phone number( or both), makes sense since this is security for home right? Set up users fingerprints and add WiFi. So yes you can lock or unlock your front door from anywhere on your phone. It also has notifications sent to your phone any time the door is unlocked. You can turn all this off if you don’t want that.No Keypad? Don’t want it. Why would you not use the fingerprint sensor if you live there? If someone who doesn’t live at your house is letting out your dog or taking care of mail and plants while you are on vacation there are better options then a keypad. I changed my old lock keypad code once a year anyway so it was just as easy to give them your spare key. It’s a temporary pass to go in and out of your home, not forever. If they called you you could use the app to open the door from wherever you are instantly. Lastly you can add their fingerprint to the lock with the app. Takes about a minute and you can remove them when you get back home. I may sound paranoid but I have had my home broken into and it changes you. A bunch of your stuff gone and the rest thrown all over the floor. You feel violated. Let’s not throw the blame game on top of that. The fewer people that have access to your home the better. The people who live at your home are the only ones who should have their fingerprints in the system or have a key. Its just common sense for better safety. This is easily the best thing I have installed that’s WiFi connected or “smart” in a long time. This lock gave me no trouble at all. Smooth simple process and everything fit perfect. It looks great and I am so happy I don’t have to punch in a code anymore, or change it. Fingerprint and WiFi are a way better way to do this! A+ job on instructions and App. They send you an email to ask you how they did after your lock is all set up. That’s good customer service. It does still exist. Wow.

    Works great!
Our front door lock-side access is tight, and it’s a pain to carry a bag in one hand, hold the screen door open and unlock with a key all at the same time. I also didn’t want a touch screen or keypad that looked like this was short-term rental rather than a normal welcoming front door. So I wanted a lock with either a fob, or fingerprint reader. This fit the bill. It’s handsome, and the case enclosure seems very well made. The bolt itself looks like standard Quickset quality – decent for residential use. Even though I had to install new rather than replacing an existing deadbolt (I had to cut holes in the door and frame) the directions were some of the clearest I’ve seen recently in any product. The numbered boxes for different parts was very helpful. Setting up the app on my phone was straightforward, as was connection to my wi-fi. The software updated itself upon installation nicely. Pairing the lock mechanism to the app through Bluetooth was a bit glitchy – an error message said I had to rest the lock to factory settings and try again. This requires looking up how to reset online or in the app. But, after doing that it connected and paired correctly. Fingerprint pairing was easy, with an option for using multiple fingers for each user. Nice. I’ve only used it for 1 day, but my first impression is it installs and works well, although like my phone, if you’re a bit off center touching, sometimes you have to touch the reader twice. Don’t know over the long run – we’ll see.

Revised: Don’t buy….very flawed product and AWFUL customer support
updated 6/3/24: These were pure junk. Terrible software, didn’t work when your fingers got a little damp or humid, dismal battery life, constantly needing to be re-setup after they lose their brain. I installed MyQ series which also works with Liftmaster/Chamberlan Garage equipment. Very happy with this. Run from this junkupdated 1/31/24: Had one still installed, I removed and am now using a much more reliable competitor product. Honestly these were an awful product.Update 1/15/22: I removed these today. I must admit after a few firmware updates they got a little more reliable, but usually after about a month it locks up and needs reset or rehanding. But finally on my front door the actuator gave up. Great Idea but awful implementation and Kwikset should be ashamed at fielding such a junky flawed product.Update 3/24/21 – Customer support doesn’t respond EVER, so don’t waste your time as they are basically useless. And Kwikset if you are reading this, know that I have made my findings about your poor service known to every building group in central florida and will continue to do so. You are an awful company, What I did figure out however finally was that it is likely one of the problems I am having is overheating. The unit is black which makes it absorb more heat and the unit seems to “lock up” when the afternoon sun shines on it. It seems to work after it cools down. (I have started putting a little cardboard cover over it). To get it to reset you always have to pull the battery pack out for a few seconds and then re-insert. Obviously a crappy design.Update 3/14/21 – Still no response other than asking for for information I already provided. Do not waste your money on this product it is from a company which is providing flawed products and won’t even respond. My suggestion is, just return this garbage.Update 3/8/21 – After days and days of waiting I finally get a response from kwikset customer response. Useless.Update 3/1/21 – Of the two units I have bought both now have failed. Fingerprint reader locks up after a few reads and becomes unresponsive. I can pull the battery pack out and it temporarily fixes, but will soon fail after a few more reads. Note that I have not had any issues with Wifi or connectivity others have reported and product is reliable from that perspective. But this product obviously has some serious basic reliability or software issues. I’ve read that they had hardware problems that may have been addressed recently but the manufacturing date on mine were from last september.. But as far as I’m concerned these units, although looking very promising are basically junk. Kwikset should be ashamed at selling this kind of junk.Update… 2/28/21 – Other unit that was working ok, behaving badly. For some reason the fingerprint reader just stops working randomly. No response. usually pulling battery case out for a couple of minutes apparently resets it and it works again for a while.I have mixed feelings about this product. I mostly like it, but it has reliability problems. I also had one of the units with out of box failures, so they definitely have QA problems. The good:-Pretty easy to install and replace an existing deadbolt. That is usually when it goes well.-Fingerprint read is quickThe Ugly:- The app sucks.. There is no dashboard so that when you have several of these in your house you can quickly assess lock status of all your doors. It seems not to have been designed with any concept of whole house automation. Also you have to enter your fingerprints for each user on each lock. You would think they would be able to share fingerprint data. So I have 6 of these things and have to go to each one with each family member to enter. Really stupid.- The Wifi integration is lousy.. Constantly falling off of Wifi and and gives offline status.- Reliability is poor. I’ve had two units that were bad right out of the box.- Customer support.. SUCKS.

Installation is one thing but the app is not available in Singapore. Even if I were to download the APK offline, it still requires a non-Singaporean mobile for registration. The only Asian countries that are in the app are India and Vietnam. So for now, I just use the traditional keys.

Just installed this product and went to download the app… It’s not available outside the US & Canada. Crazy!!! Why??? Was so looking forward to replacing my Kevo 2Nd Gen with this model. It’s useless without the app… Just a very expensive dead bolt. I tried to contact Kwikset to query the unavailability of the app but the International number doesn’t work. I sadly have to return it!

No me sentia seguro de comprarlo al ser un producto de costo elevado y tener ciertas opinones de desconfianza por integrar tecnologia a una cerradura.Actalmente no me arrepiento y me encanta tenerlo.
