My wife specifically asked for a wired lamp with a remote, which she could put by her reading chair. This floor lamp seems to fit the bill; I love the lighting options and ease of control.The lampâs head is in two halves, each of which can be tipped and rotated into a number of lighting configurations, from direct down, to defused upward indirect lighting.The remote has several very useful pre-sets: re-set to natural light color, presets for computer work, reading, baby feedings, and mellow night-light. It has a 1-hour timer option, and a useful ranges of color hues and brightness. It is very handy that the remote has magnets in it, so it can be conveniently stored on the lamppost itself. Brilliant! And I especially like the fact that even without the remote, a person can control the lamp: on/off, color hue and brightness. All very intuitive controls, right on the lamppost.For such a tall lamp, it comes in a surprisingly small package. The lamp assembles easily (multiple segments, with the wires already running through them)The only complaint I have is that, while the lamppost threads readily onto the weighted base, the lamppost is still inclined to wobble. When I first noticed this, I examined it more closely to see if something was loose. I discovered that the top of the base was flexing as the post wobbled. But because the base is a sealed unit, I have no nondistructive way to examine the internal elements of the base. My guess is that the threaded anchor of the base is not actually attached to the solid mass within the base, but rather is merely attached to the thin plastic shell covering the base. Therefore the firmly threaded pole still wobbles when handled, because the plastic shell of the base is flexing under the stresses of the leverage. As long as the lamp is not handled, perhaps it will last a while. But if the lamp is handled roughly or takes a tumble, I expect the entire base could simply break off. It is unfortunate, but I fear the baseâs anchor-point is a very weak link in an otherwise solidly designed and aesthetically pleasing lamp.

It’s fine, it’s maybe a nice “statement piece”?
Putting it together wasn’t a problem, it works FINE, but the angles it’s able to shine are a little awkward, it’s hard to get light where you actually need it. It looks nifty and futuristic but it’s really not practical. It also feels kind of cheap, but you can’t really tell from across the room, it’s just if you pick it up to move it then it’s kind of like “oh, this feels cheap”.

Talk about versatility! This lamp is certainly versatile.__I think the feature I like most is the fact that there are two sides which illuminate. You may choose to turn both side down, or up, or turn one up and the other down__I use this light while photographing jewelry so there are times when I need straight, full, and direct illumination on an item but then other times only need indirect lighting with more of a subtle look__The remote control may seem overkill, but I have found it to be incredibly useful as I often need to change the power or the shade of the light, so rather than having to do that manually, I can use that remote. Handy addition that makes my work task easier to accomplish__The base is sufficiently weighted to keep the lamp securely seated without fear of the lamp become unbalanced
